October 29, 2008
Flyers defenseman Randy Jones said he still is quite a bit of time away from returning after hip surgery, according to the Philadelphia Daily News. "It will probably be another 5 or 6 weeks before I'm playing again and probably another 2 weeks before I'm skating. It will probably take me 2 to 3 weeks conditioning-wise to get back into it," Jones said.

Our View:Jones racked up 31 points and 58 PIM while accumulating a +8 last season. His timetable means his return could come before the end of the calendar year.

Randy Jones' hip surgery went better than expected and the hope is that he will be back in around two months and not the 3-4 that were originally estimated, according to The Philadelphia News. "The doctor got in there and what they thought was a boney issue in the joint apparently wasn't," general manager Paul Holmgren said. "It's really good news."

Our View:Jones will still miss a couple of months, but this is clearly good news for a team that has been forced to go with youngsters like Andrew Alberts and Luca Sbisa on the backend.

Defenseman Randy Jones will undergo right hip surgery this week and could miss up to four months, the AP reports. He has a torn labrum.

Our View:We previously saw a timeline of 6-8 weeks, so this is worrisome. Fantasy owners should feel free to drop him.

Randy Jones will need to undergo hip surgery, according to TSN. The ailment has been bothering him for several weeks and he said, "Surgery will be the best thing to get this fixed and take away all the pain and the groin issues and everything else. That is the one main thing that will take the pain away. It's a smarter decision to get it done now. I would be back before Christmas."

Our View:He expects to miss 6-8 weeks, but the team should release a timetable following the procedure. He will be missed as he is coming off a breakout campaign in which he set highs in goals (5), assists (26), and penalty minutes (58).
July 2, 2008
According to the AP, the Philadelphia Flyers re-signed defenceman Randy Jones to a 2-year undisclosed deal.

Our View:Rejoing the Flyers, Jones hopes to build on his five goal, 26 assist season from a year ago.
March 13, 2008
Randy Jones, who has been playing through a bothersome knee since December, did not play in the third period of Wednesday's 3-2 loss to Toronto after suffering a hip flexor injury. The team will perform tests on Jones today, and fantasy owners should consider him day-to-day.
