August 3, 2005 The process of getting Evgeni Malkin to the NHL hit a snag when the Russian teams voted unanimously Monday to not sign the new transfer agreement between the NHL and the International Ice Hockey Federation that was believed to be in place, according to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. It was believed that Metallurg Magnitogorsk, the team for which Malkin plays, was going to want $2 million to let him out of his current contract, but there were also reports that the fee could be as much as $10 million. |
