Newsbreakers
November 27, 2008
Maxime Talbot is day-to-day with an undisclosed injury, according to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.

Our View:It is uncertain when he may return, but the injury is not believed to be serious. Either way, he holds little to no fantasy value with only four goals and two assists over 20 games.
October 30, 2008
Penguins center Maxime Talbot, who was held out of the team's game Tuesday, was unable to practice on Wednesday and likely won't play Thursday against the Sharks, according to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.

Our View:Talbot is not fantasy relevant, as he has just one goal in nine games, zero PIM and a plus/minus of -4.
October 28, 2008
Maxime Talbot will miss Tuesday's game with an undisclosed injury, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Paul Bissonnette will suit up for the Penguins instead.

Our View:Talbot has played in all of Pittsburgh's games to this point, but has only one goal and is a (-4) so far, having little fantasy value.
May 11, 2008
Maxime Talbot, a sometimes overlooked fourth-line forward on a team renowned for its stars, scored the go-ahead goal midway through the third period and the Pittsburgh Penguins took a two-game lead in the Eastern Conference finals by beating the Philadelphia Flyers 4-2 Sunday night.

Our View:Talbot played in 63 regular season games and scored 26 points, 12 coming by goals.
May 11, 2008
Center Maxime Talbot will play on Sunday night against the Flyers, the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review confirms. He has been out since Game 3 versus the Rangers due to a broken right foot.

Our View:We don't know if Talbot will log many minutes or be 100 percent effective, but his presence will be a boost.
May 10, 2008
Center Maxime Talbot may be laced up and ready to play for his Pittsburgh Penguins in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference finals against the Philadelphia Flyers on Sunday, according to the Associated Press.

Our View:Talbot suffered a broken foot while blocking a slapshot during the Pens' last playoff series against the New York Rangers. He practiced with the team today and coach Michel Therrien told reporters he will be evaluated once more tomorrow morning.
May 7, 2008
Maxime Talbot hopes that he will be able to return from his broken foot in time to suit up for Game 1 against the Flyers, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. "I'll probably play," he said. "That's the plan. It feels better and better every day."

Our View:The team isn't clear about whether or not Talbot truly is ready to return, but he is keeping a happy face about it. His inclusion in the lineup will be a game-time decision.
May 4, 2008
Maxime Talbot remained out on Sunday due to a broken right foot, and the Penguins don't know if he'll be ready for the next round, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

Our View:Talbot is only day-to-day, so we imagine he be able to play at some point in the Eastern Conference Finals.
May 4, 2008
Maxime Talbot remains uncertain to play in Sunday's Game 5 against the Rangers, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Talbot missed Game 4 Thursday because of what is believed to be a broken left foot he sustained in Game 3. He did not join the team for practice at Southpointe but skated earlier, and Coach Michel Therrien said, "He practiced on his own and he felt pretty good, so we'll see for today."

Our View:Gary Roberts would likely replace Talbot in the lineup again if he cannot make it onto the ice. The Penguins are up 3-1 in the series, and Talbot won't be rushed back into action.
May 2, 2008
Maxime Talbot missed Game 4 and is considered day-to-day with a broken foot, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. "I'll see how the pain goes," Talbot said. "Hopefully, I can be back as soon as possible. It's never fun to be out, but I think that's the smart decision, just to rest it."

Our View:Veteran Gary Roberts replaced Talbot in the lineup. With the Pens up 3-1 on the Rangers, there's no need to rush Talbot back this round.
May 1, 2008
Updating an earlier report, Maxime Talbot (foot) is out of the lineup for Game 4 for the Penguins, according to the AP. The good news is that Gary Roberts will be in the lineup to take Talbot's spot.

Our View:In truth, this is probably a better move for the Penguins anyway considering the grit and leadership that Roberts possesses.
May 1, 2008
Maxime Talbot is doubtful for Game 4 due to his foot injury, according to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. Talbot's right foot may be broken, though neither he or team officials would disclose that information. Talbot commented, "It's a foot injury. It's listed day-to-day. And that's what they told me to say. It's disappointing. I don't know if I'll be ready."

Our View:Talbot only scored 26 points over 63 games in the regular season, but he excels at penalty-kills, and had one game-winning goal to his credit. He will be missed on the ice if he cannot go.
April 30, 2008
The Pittsburgh Penguins may be forced to move forward in their Eastern Conference semifinal playoff series without forward Maxime Talbot and defenseman Rob Scuderi, both suffering from foot injuries, according to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.

Our View:Both players missed optional practice today, suffering from injuries absorbed in blocking shots in Game 3. Their listed as day-to-day, but the Pens expect both to miss Game 4.
April 30, 2008
Maxime Talbot may have suffered a broken right foot while blocking a shot in Game 3, this according to TSN. Team officials have declined to officially comment on the situation, but Talbot was seen in a walking boot on Wednesday morning.

Our View:The Penguins are ahead in their series with the Rangers 3-0, so the Pens wouldn't figure to push Talbot even if the foot isn't broken since it's clear that he is at less than 100%. We wouldn't be shocked to see him sit out Game 4 as a precaution even if he is healthy.
April 1, 2008
Maxime Talbot scored the lone goal in Pittsburgh's 2-1 loss to the Rangers on Monday. He has now scored goals in back-to-back games.
March 12, 2008
Maxime Talbot won't play Wednesday night after he aggravated an ankle injury that cost him 13-games in late December and early January. The Pens will depend on the recently returned Sidney Crosby, and Evgeni Malkin more than usual when the team faces off against Buffalo tonight.
January 10, 2008
Maxime Talbot was in back in the lineup Thursday after missing the previous 13 games with an ankle injury, the AP reports. Talbot played 16 minutes and had four minutes in penalties, but he didn't otherwise show up in the box score.
