November 1, 2008 Keith Ballard collected his eighth assist of the season in Saturday's 3-2 shootout loss to Nashville. Our View:The defenseman has been a pleasant surprise so far this season with 10 points over 10 games. He is worth targeting if available on the waiver wire, but it remains to be seen how productive he will be when Bryan McCabe (lower back strain) returns to the blueline. |

September 9, 2008 The Panthers have signed defenseman Keith Ballard to a six-year contract extension, Our View:Ballard isn't terribly useful in fantasy leagues, but the Panthers sure do seem to like him. |

June 20, 2008 Keith Ballard was traded to the Florida Panthers along with defensemen Nick Boyton and a second round pick for Olli Jokinen, according to Our View:Ballard and Boyton both have skills, and you need defense to win in the NHL, but from a fantasy perspective neither is a terribly exciting option. Ballard could have some special teams value, and Boyton could produce some nice PIM totals, but the Panthers now have a gaping whole on the first line that they will need to fill. |
