The Sports Network reports that the Habs have signed defensemen Josh Gorges to a three year deal. "His reliability and solid play made him one of our most improved players," general manager Bob Gainey said. "He is a young defenseman with a very good work ethic."

Our View:At just 23, Gorges looks to improve upon last season's nine points and should see regular time in Montreal's defensive rotation.

Josh Gorges will join the Canadiens Tuesday, the AP reports. Montreal acquired Gorges over the weekend along with a first-round draft pick; San Jose received veteran defenseman Craig Rivet and a fifth-round selection.
