Newsbreakers
November 29, 2008
Andrei Kostitsyn had two points on Saturday's game, picking up a goal and an assist.

Our View:Kostitsyn doesn't have much fantasy value as he only has nine points in 21 games this season.
November 16, 2008
Andrei Kostitsyn picked up a goal and assisted on another as the Canadiens defeated the Blues 3-2 in a shootout.

Our View:Kostitsyn had just four points in 13 previous games, so his fantasy value is minimal at this point, though he did score more than 20 goals last year, so keep an eye on him.
October 28, 2008
Andrei Kostitsyn is set to return to the Canadiens' lineup Tuesday following his recovery from a concussion, according to the Montreal Gazette.

Our View:This is good news, but he may take a few games before he returns to top form.
October 26, 2008
Andrei Kostitsyn joined his teammates for the morning skate Saturday and could be back for next Tuesday's game against Carolina, according to the Montreal Gazette. He is coming back from a concussion.

Our View:Check back for updates, but it sounds like Kostitsyn will be back shortly.
October 25, 2008
Andrei Kostitsyn joined his teammates for Saturday's morning skate and could be ready to return to action for next Tuesday's game against Carolina, according to HabsInsideOut.com. He is recovering from a concussion sustained last week.

Our View:Kostitsyn has 25-30 goal potential, and will provide a significant boost to the Canadiens' lineup when he returns. He shall remain stashed on fantasy rosters.
October 19, 2008
The AP reports that Andrei Kostitsyn will not be in uniform for Montreal when the team hosts the Florida Panthers on Monday.

Our View:Details of the injury have not been revealed. He left Saturday's game against the Coyotes in the second period after sustaining a hard hit from defenseman Kurt Sauer.
October 18, 2008
Andrei Kostitsyn left Saturday's game against the Coyotes in the second period after sustaining a hard hit from defenseman Kurt Sauer, according to the AP. Sauer caught Kostitsyn with his head down in the offensive zone and hit him along the boards. Kostitsyn collapsed to the ice before slowly managing to get to his hands and knees. Although a stretcher was sent onto the ice, Kostitsyn was brandishing a swollen left eye when he got to his feet, with the help of the trainers, and was escorted to the locker room.

Our View:He is unlikely to return to the game. A penalty was not called on Sauer.
October 13, 2008
Andrei Kostitsyn put in one goal and one assist to help lead the Montreal Canadiens to a 5-3 victory over the Philadelphia Flyers.

Our View:Kostitsyn tallied his first points of the season for the Canadiens. He was a former top-ten selection, and has enough skill to put in over 20 goals on the year.
July 1, 2008
Andrei Kostsitsyn signed a 3-year deal to remain with the Canadiens on Tuesday, according to TSN. The deal is for $3.25 million a year for the former restricted free agent.

Our View:Kostsitsyn came alive in the playoffs with five goals and eight points in 12 games, this after a breakout campaign of 27 goals for the former 10th overall selection (2003). Kostsitsyn figures to skate as at top-6 forward next season, one that should challenge the 30-goal mark.
June 25, 2008
Andrei Kostsitsyn was one of six Canadiens who received qualifying offers on Wednesday, according to TSN. The others were forwards Mikhail Grabovski and Corey Locke, defencemen Josh Gorges and Ryan O'Byrne and goaltender Jaroslav Halak.

Our View:By extending these players offers, the Canadiens are able to match any offers that the restricted free agents receive from other teams. Look for the team to push hard to re-sign all six, especially Kostsitsyn who emerged this year with a solid season and playoffs in his first year in Montreal.
June 14, 2008
The Canadiens and Andrei Kostsitsyn have been discussing a new contract, the Montreal Gazette reports. The 23-year-old forward had a breakout season with 53 points over 78 games, and he is due to become a restricted free agent.

Our View:Kostsitsyn was a quality fantasy forward from December through the end of the season (45 points, 57 games), and we imagine the Habs are doing their best to keep him around.
April 21, 2008
Andrei Kostsitsyn scored two goals and had an assist while brother Sergei scored a goal and added an assist in the Habs Game 7 victory over the Bruins.

Our View:Andrei finished the series with five points as Sergei finished the series on a high note as well with six points against the Bruins.
