October 18, 2008 Andrei Kostitsyn left Saturday's game against the Coyotes in the second period after sustaining a hard hit from defenseman Kurt Sauer, according to the AP. Sauer caught Kostitsyn with his head down in the offensive zone and hit him along the boards. Kostitsyn collapsed to the ice before slowly managing to get to his hands and knees. Although a stretcher was sent onto the ice, Kostitsyn was brandishing a swollen left eye when he got to his feet, with the help of the trainers, and was escorted to the locker room. Our View:He is unlikely to return to the game. A penalty was not called on Sauer. |
