August 24, 2008 Montreal Canadiens sophomore forward Sergei Kostsitsyn isn't convinced Russia's Continental Hockey League - known as the KHL - will threaten the dominance of the National Hockey League, and he reports no interest in leaving the NHL to find out, according to the Montreal Gazette. "Leave the best league in the world? No, thank you," Kostitsyn told Russian prospects.com. Our View:Kostitsyn has two years left on his entry-level contract which pays him $816,000 a season. Kostitsyn scored nine goals and 18 assists in 52 games during his rookie season and is hoping for an even better campaign in 2008-09. |

February 1, 2008 Sergei Kostsitsyn could be seeing more ice time, perhaps skating in place of the struggling Michael Ryder alongside Saku Koivu and Christopher Higgins, according to the Montreal Gazette. The rookie has five goals and 13 points in 21 games this season and has lit the lamp in each of his past two contests. He might be worth riding in deeper leagues if he does get more game action. |
