Newsbreakers
November 28, 2008
Jaroslav Halak made just the sixth start of the season on Friday night and he allowed three goals on 30 shots in the Canadiens 3-0 loss to the Capitals.

Our View:Halak is 2-2-1 on the year, hardly impressive, but he does own a solid save percentage of .914. He is nothing more than Carey Price's caddy though, and only deserves to be rostered in extremely deep leagues.
November 15, 2008
Jaroslav Halak took the loss on Saturday even though he stopped 29-of-31 Philadelphia shots for Montreal. It was Halak's first regulation loss of the year in five starts.

Our View:Halak has been a solid backup for Montreal, but hasn't played enough to be a great fantasy option.
November 6, 2008
Jaroslav Halak will start in net for the Canadiens on Friday when they take on the Blue Jackets, with Carey Price starting Saturday against the Leafs, according to TSN.

Our View:Halak has fared well in his three appearances with two wins and a .918 SV% as an able fill-in when the team chooses to rest its starter. Adjust your lineups accordingly.
October 25, 2008
Jaroslav Halak will make his third start between the pipes tonight against Anaheim, according to HabsInsideOut.com. Carey Price is battling the flu.

Our View:Halak is 2-0 with a strong 1.01 goals-against average and .967 save percentage, and is worth starting if you have him on your roster. He would hold much more fantasy value if he wasn't stuck behind Carey Price on the depth chart.
October 20, 2008
Goalie Jaroslav Halak stopped 35-of-36 shots and earned a win against the Panthers on Monday night.

Our View:Halak has been outstanding through two starts. It's too bad he's buried behind Carey Price.
October 19, 2008
TSN reports that goaltender Jaroslav Halak will start his second consecutive game on Monday against Florida.

Our View:In his only start of the season, he allowed just one goal while stopping 24 shots. He should still be considered Carey Price's backup, but the team is showing a lot of confidence in Halak early on so keep an eye on him.
October 1, 2008
Jaroslav Halak stopped 33 of 34 shots in the Habs 3-1 win over Boston on Wednesday. He has allowed just the one goal in his past two games.

Our View:The 23-year-old went 2-1-1 with a solid 2.11 GAA with Montreal last season, but his fantasy value will remain limited while serving as Carey Price's backup.
July 8, 2008
The Canadiens have re-signed goalie Jaroslav Halak to a two-year deal worth $1.55 million, according to TSN.

Our View:The 23-year-old went 2-1-1 with a solid 2.11 GAA with Montreal last season, but his fantasy value will remain limited while serving as Carey Price's backup.
May 1, 2008
Jaroslav Halak got the call over Carey Price in Game 4 on Wednesday, but he was ineffective as he allowed three goals on 25 shots in a 4-2 loss to Philadelphia. The other goal came on an empty net.

Our View:Montreal now trails Philadelphia 3-1 in the series, and it was a surprising move to trust Halak in crucial Game 4, as he only made four starts in the regular season.
April 30, 2008
In a surprising move, the Montreal Canadiens will go with Jaroslav Halak as their starter for Game 4, according to TSN.

Our View:Carey Price is 1-2 with an abysmal .853 save percentage against the Flyers, so the decision was made to go with Halak. The team certainly needs a boost, and this type of switch can often times spark a team that feels it has let its starter in net down. If the Habs lose tonight, the series will be all but over.
March 15, 2008
Jaroslav Halak stopped all 30 shots by the Islanders as he nailed down a shutout, in his first home start of the season. His record improves to 2-0.
March 8, 2008
Jaroslav Halak made 35 saves in his first start of the season to lead the Canadiens to a 5-2 win over Los Angeles on Saturday. Halak made his first NHL start since April 5, 2007, when he was pulled after two periods in a 3-1 loss to the New York Rangers. He served as the backup the previous 22 games.
