July 5, 2008 Craig Rivet was traded to the Sabres, not because the Sharks were unhappy with his performance, but because of salary considerations, according to the Our View:The Sharks added Dan Boyle and Rob Blake which not only made Rivet somewhat redundant in terms of blueliners, but also too expensive at $3.5 million. Rivet should continue to be a nice depth defensemen in Buffalo after a solid '07-'08. |

July 4, 2008 Defenseman Craig Rivet, and a seventh-round pick in 2010, have been dealt from the Sharks to the Sabres in exchange for second-round selections in the 2009 and 2010 drafts, according to Our View:Rivet became expendable to the Sharks following their acquisitions of Rob Blake and Dan Boyle. He should prove to be an asset to the Sabres, as he contributed five goals and 30 assists over 74 games for San Jose in 2007-08, with 104 penalty minutes. |
