Jon Sim improved his bid to nail down a spot at left wing alongside Doug Weight and Bill Guerin, as he scored a goal in Saturday's 3-1 win over Boston. Guerin assisted on the goal.

Our View:Sim is expected to open the season on the third-line, but could work his way up if he continues to perform like tonight. He is worthy of targeting as a flier.

Jon Sim has been turning heads and impressing the Islanders' staff so far in training camp, according to Newsday. New coach Scott Gordon said, "With Jon, you're looking at a guy who has a level of skill. Sometimes guys who play with the energy he does, there's a dropoff in skill. But you don't get that with him. He's got good hands, he can score, he goes to the dirty areas to retrieve pucks. Jon is a guy that can make a play, and that's an important element."

Our View:Scott Gordon intends to give him a shot at left wing with center Doug Weight and right wing Bill Guerin, on what could be the Islanders' most productive line. Sim is worthy of a late-round pick in fantasy drafts.

Jon Sim was knocked out of Saturday's game with a sprained knee. He's considered to be day-to-day, according to the New York Daily News. He'll test it out before Monday's afternoon game to see if he will be able to take part in the contest.
