Glen Murray, W Thursday 7/24, 8:44 PM CT
Glen Murray has cleared waivers, according to the AP.

Our View: Murray went unclaimed one day after being placed on waivers, leaving the Bruins 48 hours in which to buy out the remaining year on his contract. The 35-year-old winger is slated to make $4.15 million next season, but Boston would save $2.9 million against the salary cap by buying out his contract.
Martin St. Pierre, C Thursday 7/24, 12:45 PM CT
Martin St. Pierre was sent from Chicago to Boston on Thursday for center Pascal Pelletier according to the Providence Journal.

Our View: St. Pierre has played in just 21 NHL games over the last three seasons with Chicago.
Glen Murray, W Wednesday 7/23, 2:20 PM CT
The Bruins have placed Glen Murray on waivers, according to TSN.

Our View: The 35-year-old forward had trouble staying healthy in 2007-08, and contributed 17 goals and 13 assists over 63 games, with 50 penalty minutes. Two of his goals were game-winners. Murray can be traded or bought out, or they may simply hold on to him if he clears waivers.
Dennis Wideman, D Tuesday 7/22, 11:00 AM CT
The Bruins agreed to a deal with defenseman Dennis Wideman, which will avoid salary arbitration, according to the Providence Journal. The contract is for four years, and is worth $15.75 million.

Our View: Wideman is a solid offensive defenseman, as he chipped in 13 goals and 23 assists with 70 penalty minutes over 81 games with Boston last season.
Patrice Bergeron, C Sunday 7/13, 10:57 AM CT
Patrice Bergeron's recovery from a major concussion is on track, and he participated in Boston's development camp this week, according to the Boston Herald. “I feel great. There’s no question in my mind that I’m ready and that I can go through the next 1 months of workouts and feel great for September,” he said.

Our View: Bergeron is a talented scorer when healthy, putting up at least 70 points in two of the three seasons he has been healthy. Concussions are tricky though, so drafting him on your fantasy squad comes with a risk that he may suffer another one at any point.
Manny Fernandez, G Sunday 7/13, 10:16 AM CT
Bruins GM Peter Chiarelli expects goalie Manny Fernandez to be ready to go for training camp, reports the Boston Globe. Fernandez is coming off of knee surgery.

Our View: At age 33 and coming off knee surgery, Fernandez can not be counted on by fantasy owners to deliver much, especially with the way Tim Thomas played last season.
Glen Murray, W Sunday 7/13, 10:10 AM CT
Glen Murray will likely be bought out by the Bruins in order to get the contract of Dennis Wideman to fit under the team's salary cap, according to the Boston Globe.

Our View: Murray did not have a great season a year ago, registering just 30 points, and at age 35, his fantasy value is limited.
Dennis Wideman, D Sunday 7/13, 10:06 AM CT
Dennis Wideman will soon have a contract completed with the Boston Bruins, according to the Boston Globe. The paper reports the contract will be for three or four years at about $3 million per year.

Our View: Wideman is a solid fantasy defenseman, and had 13 goals last year, to go along with a +/- rating of +11.
Zach Hamill, C Saturday 7/12, 8:19 AM CT
Zach Hamill will likely start next season in the AHL, according to the Boston Globe. He was the eighth-overall pick in the 2007 draft and has looked good so far in the off-season, but the Bruins are deep at center with Marc Savard, Patrice Bergeron, and Krejci, and Hamill looks to start this season with Providence.

Our View: If Hamill continues on his development curve, he could challenge for a big league role in 2009-10, which is the final season of Savard's four-year contract.
Petteri Nokelainen, C Wednesday 7/2, 3:03 PM CT
TSN reports the Boston Bruins have signed forward Petteri Nokelainen to a multi-year contract. Terms of the deal were not released.

Our View: Nokelainen played in 57 games last year, posting seven goals and three assists for Boston.
Michael Ryder, W Tuesday 7/1, 9:16 PM CT
Former Canadiens' forward Michael Ryder has inked a three-year deal with the Bruins worth $12 million, according to TSN.ca.

Our View: Ryder dipped to 14 goals with Montreal in 2007-08, but he reached 30 in each of his previous two campaigns with the club, and will have a good chance to bounce back with a fresh start in Boston.
Blake Wheeler, W Tuesday 7/1, 3:06 PM CT
Rookie forward Blake Wheeler signed a contract to join the Bruins on Tuesday, according to ESPN. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Our View: Wheeler was the 5th overall selection in 2005 by the Coyotes, but he never came to terms with the club and instead attended the University of Minnesota. Last season he led the Golden Gophers with 15 goals and 20 assists. He will attend developmental camp starting July 8th.
Glen Murray, W Tuesday 7/1, 7:56 AM CT
Glen Murray was not bought out of his contract by the Bruins but there still remains a 48 hour window where it could be revisited upon the completion of Dennis Wideman's arbitration case, according to the Boston Globe.

Our View: Basically, as soon as Wideman's case is finalized, the clock starts ticking for Murray. The team will therefore have a bit of time to decide if they want to bring back Murray and his $4 million plus contract a year after he was limited to just 17 goals and 30 points in 63 injury filled games.
