Our View: The Sharks added Dan Boyle and Rob Blake which not only made Rivet somewhat redundant in terms of blueliners, but also too expensive at $3.5 million. Rivet should continue to be a nice depth defensemen in Buffalo after a solid '07-'08. |

Sabres' GM Darcy Regier said, "We are very excited to add such a quality veteran player to our roster. He is a great character player that will provide our club added leadership and experience."

Our View: Rivet became expendable to the Sharks following their acquisitions of Rob Blake and Dan Boyle. He should prove to be an asset to the Sabres, as he contributed five goals and 30 assists over 74 games for San Jose in 2007-08, with 104 penalty minutes. |
