Rhett Warrener, D Sunday 10/5, 9:38 AM CT
The Flames could trade Rhett Warrener before the season begins in order to save money, the Calgary Sun reports.

Our View: Either way, Warrener is not a fantasy option.
Mikael Backlund, C Sunday 10/5, 4:38 PM CT
The Flames have decided to send Mikael Backlund back to Sweden for one more year of seasoning, according to The Calgary Sun. The team also sent John Armstrong and Matt Keetley to the AHL.

Our View: Backlund, the clubs first round selection in 2007, is just 19 years old and still has a bright future in this game. He will be sent back to Sweden for a final season to refine his game before hopefully emerging as a top-6 forward for Calgary in 2009.
Jarome Iginla, RW Friday 10/3, 11:18 PM CT
Jarome Iginla ripped off nine shots and converted two of them in Calgary's 4-3 overtime win against the Oilers on Friday. The superstar added an assist in the nail-biter.

Our View: In case you've been in a cave, Iginla is one of the most dominating players in the game. He totaled 98 points a season ago and figures to make another run at triple digits this year.
Curtis Glencross, LW Friday 10/3, 11:22 PM CT
Curtis Glencross scored an unassisted overtime goal to give his Flames the win over his former team 4-3 on Friday. The winger added an assist in the game.

Our View: Glencross is not a likely fantasy factor, but it had to fill good to have such a big performance against his former teammates. He can score and if given enough minutes, he could reach 25-plus goals.
Matthew Lombardi, C Wednesday 10/1, 7:02 AM CT
Matthew Lombardi missed Tuesday's practice, according to the Calgary Herald. Tuesday was considered a "maintenance day" and the top priority of the team is to keep the players healthy.

Our View: Lombardi should challenge 20 goals as the Flames' second-line center this season.
Dustin Boyd, C Wednesday 10/1, 7:05 AM CT
Dustin Boyd has been turning heads and impressing the Flames' staff through training camp, according to the Calgary Herald.

Our View: He has racked up seven points so far in the preseason, but has a two-way contract and is still fighting for a spot on the Flames' final roster.
Brandon Prust, C Wednesday 10/1, 7:10 AM CT
Brandon Prust is day-to-day due to the flu, according to the Calgary Herald.

Our View: The 24-year-old center failed to register any points over 10 games with Calgary last season, and is not expected to make an impact in 2008.
