Ryan O'Byrne, D Wednesday 7/16, 4:31 PM CT
Ryan O'Bryne signed a 3-year deal to remain a member of the Montreal Canadiens, according to The Sports Network. "Ryan acquired a great deal of NHL experience last season," said GM Bob Gainey. "He is part of our young core of defenseman and certainly has the potential of becoming a very good NHL player." Shawn Belle also signed a 1-year deal.

Our View: O'Bryne is just 24 years old, and would seem to have a bright future, even if that doesn't include him staring on any fantasy squads in the upcoming season.
Corey Locke, C Friday 7/11, 5:02 PM CT
TSN.ca reports that Corey Locke was traded to the Minnesota Wild for defenseman Shawn Belle.

Our View: Locke could have some impact but has only played one NHL game. Last season, in 78 games with the AHL Hamilton Bulldogs, he scored 30 goals and tallied42 assists.
Josh Gorges, D Wednesday 7/9, 3:59 PM CT
The Sports Network reports that the Habs have signed defensemen Josh Gorges to a three year deal. "His reliability and solid play made him one of our most improved players," general manager Bob Gainey said. "He is a young defenseman with a very good work ethic."

Our View: At just 23, Gorges looks to improve upon last season's nine points and should see regular time in Montreal's defensive rotation.
Jaroslav Halak, G Tuesday 7/8, 2:59 PM CT
The Canadiens have re-signed goalie Jaroslav Halak to a two-year deal worth $1.55 million, according to TSN.

Our View: The 23-year-old went 2-1-1 with a solid 2.11 GAA with Montreal last season, but his fantasy value will remain limited while serving as Carey Price's backup.
Ryan Flinn, W Monday 7/7, 5:22 PM CT
The Montreal Canadiens signed free agent forward Ryan Flinn to a one-year, two-way contract on Monday, this according to TSN of Canada. As per club policy, financial terms were not disclosed.

Our View: Flinn has seven seasons of AHL experience along with three seasons with Los Angeles Kings and some time with the Phoenix Coyotes prior to the 2006 season.
Marc Denis, G Friday 7/4, 11:30 AM CT
Marc Denis has signed a one-year contract with the Montreal Canadiens, according to The Sports Network.

Our View: Denis was terrible for the Lightning last season, and because this is a two-way contract, he can be sent to the minors easily. Don't consider him an option in fantasy leagues.
Georges Laraque, W Thursday 7/3, 3:15 PM CT
Georges Laraque has signed a three-year, $4.5 million deal to play for the Montreal Canadiens, according to TSN.com.

Our View: Laraque's value lies with his fists more than his hockey stick. He doesn't do enough to have much value in fantasy hockey leagues.
Andrei Kostsitsyn, W Tuesday 7/1, 2:25 PM CT
Andrei Kostsitsyn signed a 3-year deal to remain with the Canadiens on Tuesday, according to TSN. The deal is for $3.25 million a year for the former restricted free agent.

Our View: Kostsitsyn came alive in the playoffs with five goals and eight points in 12 games, this after a breakout campaign of 27 goals for the former 10th overall selection (2003). Kostsitsyn figures to skate as at top-6 forward next season, one that should challenge the 30-goal mark.
