Scott Gomez, C Friday 11/21, 11:22 AM CT
Scott Gomez (ankle) skated with the Rangers on Friday, but was wearing a non-contact jersey.

Our View: Gomez has missed four games and figures to miss a fifth as New York battles Ottawa on Saturday.
Scott Gomez, C Thursday 11/20, 2:09 PM CT
Scott Gomez is not expected to return to the ice Saturday against the Senators as he is still recovering from an ankle injury, according to Newsday.

Our View: It is believed he has a high-ankle sprain, so he may be out longer beyond Saturday. He has scored 13 points over 18 games and fantasy owners should patiently keep him reserved on fantasy rosters.
Chris Drury, C Wednesday 11/19, 9:39 PM CT
Rangers captain Chris Drury scored a power play goal and added an assist in the Rangers' 6-3 loss to the Canucks on Wednesday night.

Our View: Drury has now scored eight goals on the year and now has 13 points in the Rangers 22 games.
Scott Gomez, C Tuesday 11/18, 1:24 PM CT
The NY Post indicates that Scott Gomez will miss another week while recovering from his ankle injury. He said, "It's a little better but it's not where it needs to be. I wish it would heal quicker, but there's nothing more I can do. I just have to see how it reacts and go from there."

Our View: He is considered day-to-day and shall remain reserved on fantasy rosters.
Henrik Lundqvist, G Monday 11/17, 9:04 PM CT
Henrik Lundqvist continued an excellent season for the Rangers in picking up his 12th win of the year against the Senators on Monday. He stopped 27 of 28 shots in the effort.

Our View: Lundqvist maintained his sub-2 GAA and playing exceptionally well for the Rangers as he is now 12-4-2 on the season.
Scott Gomez, C Monday 11/17, 8:35 AM CT
Scott Gomez will probably miss the Rangers' game against Ottawa on Monday night due to a leg injury, according to the New York Daily News.

Our View: Gomez has missed two games with the malady, and it's unknown exactly how long he will be out, though he's been termed day-to-day with the injury.
Henrik Lundqvist, G Saturday 11/15, 9:59 PM CT
Henrik Lundqvist picked up his 11th win in 17 starts for the Rangers on Saturday, stopping 23-of-25 shots in regulation as New York defeated Boston in a shootout.

Our View: Lundqvist is becoming one of the elite goaltenders in the league and is making the Rangers look like a cup contender, even without Jaromir Jagr and Brendan Shanahan. Have him in your lineup every night.
Markus Naslund, LW Saturday 11/15, 9:53 PM CT
Markus Naslund scored his sixth of the year on Saturday and was a +1 in the Rangers' shootout win over Boston.

Our View: Naslund only has 14 points in 20 games for the Rangers, but is starting to be more consistent on the stat sheet.
Scott Gomez, C Saturday 11/15, 12:36 PM CT
Scott Gomez will be a game-time call for Saturday's battle with the Bruins, according to Newsday. He is dealing with an ankle ailment.

Our View: He will be a risky fantasy option, and should be held out to be safe. He has only mustered two assists over his last six games.
Chris Drury, C Wednesday 11/12, 9:29 PM CT
Chris Drury scored a goal for the second straight game to give him seven on the year. The Rangers beat the Devils 5-2 on Wednesday night.

Our View: Drury started off slowly but now is starting to put the biscuit in the basket. The Rangers captain has scored seven goals and has three assists in 19 games.
Nikolai Zherdev, RW Wednesday 11/12, 9:20 PM CT
Nikolai Zherdev scored his sixth and seventh goal of the year in the Rangers' 5-2 win over Devils.

Our View: Zherdev's two goals were the first goals he has scored since October 30. The right winger now has 16 points in 19 games.
Pat Rissmiller, LW Wednesday 11/12, 7:23 PM CT
The AP reports that the New York Rangers assigned left wing Pat Rissmiller to Hartford of the American Hockey League for conditioning purposes on Wednesday.

Our View: The 30-year-old Rissmiller has appeared in just two games for the Rangers this season, posting a minus-2 rating without recording a point. The winger has registered 18 goals and 27 assists in 182 career games with the San Jose Sharks and Rangers.
Scott Gomez, C Wednesday 11/12, 5:36 PM CT
The AP reports that Scott Gomez will sit out Wednesday’s game against the New Jersey Devils with a leg injury and has been listed as day-to-day. Gomez has missed the Rangers’ last two practices to get treatment for the ailment, which the team has not detailed.

Our View: The former Devil has struggled of late, managing just two assists in the last five games with a plus-minus rating of minus-five. For the season, Gomez has three goals and 10 assists.
Chris Drury, C Monday 11/10, 9:27 PM CT
Chris Drury picked up his sixth goal of the season on Monday as New York fell to the Edmonton Oilers 3-2 in a shootout.

Our View: Drury is off to a relatively slow start but he has picked up his scoring in the past week.
Lauri Korpikoski, LW Sunday 11/9, 7:22 PM CT
Lauri Korpikoski was recalled from the AHL on Sunday to join the New York Rangers, according to the Associated Press.

Our View: The 19th selection in the 2004 draft, Lauri was held pointless in seven previous games with the Rangers this season though he did flash some skills with the Wolpack of the AHL scoring four times in four games. Still, he should be left on waivers.
Alexei Cherepanov, RW Saturday 11/8, 10:56 AM CT
The New York Rangers would like to be compensated because their first-round pick in the 2007 draft, Alexei Cherepanov, died, according to the ESPN.com. There is a rule in the league's CBA that says compensation can be had if a player does not sign with the team. "With all due respect to Alexei's family and his memory, he is technically eligible to be drafted again next year," said Rangers assistant general manager Cam Hope.

Our View: We understand the team wants compensation for the loss of a high draft pick, but it's possible there was a better way to put it than saying he's eligible to be drafted again.
Henrik Lundqvist, G Thursday 11/6, 10:38 PM CT
Henrik Lundqvist made 36 saves on Thursday night against Tampa Bay, allowing just two goals. He earned his eighth win of the year.

Our View: Lundqvist continues to be one of the top goalies in the NHL, racking up wins for the Rangers and fantasy owners alike.
Chris Drury, C Thursday 11/6, 9:53 PM CT
Chris Drury scored a hat trick in Thursday night's game against the Lightning. Two of the goals came on the power play while the other came shorthanded for the Rangers in their 5-2 win.

Our View: Drury's gotten off to slow start offensively this season, but a game like this could get him going. He's owned in nearly all leagues, but you may want to sign him while you still can if he's on the waiver wire.
Brendan Shanahan, RW Thursday 11/6, 4:27 PM CT
In the latest rumor, Brendan Shanahan might be on his way to join the Blackhawks, according to Hockey Buzz. Scotty Bowman, Shanahan's old coach in Detroit (he is now an Executive with Chicago), called Shanahan to gauge his interest in moving to the Windy City.

Our View: Shanahan can still score, and contribute on the power-play, and his veteran experience would be invaluable for any team. He should sign soon, we hope, as this rumor mill stuff is getting a bit old.
Markus Naslund, LW Tuesday 11/4, 9:06 PM CT
Markus Naslund scored the Rangers only goal in their 2-1 loss to the Islanders. The goal was his fifth of the year.

Our View: Naslund now has 12 points on the year and is still a solid fantasy scorer.
Brendan Shanahan, RW Tuesday 11/4, 12:41 PM CT
Brendan Shanahan spoke with the Flyers' GM Paul Holmgren on Monday, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer.

Our View: Shanahan might have to take a sizable pay cut to sign with a contender, as most of the top teams are already near the salary cap for the year.
Brendan Shanahan, RW Sunday 11/2, 1:44 PM CT
Brendan Shanahan may be close to becoming a member of the Pittsburgh Penguins, according to HockeyBuzz.com.

Our View: After waiting for the Rangers to offer him a deal, Shanahan said he is tired of waiting and said he was taking offers from all clubs. Should he join Pittsburgh, consider him a solid depth player for fantasy squads.
Ryan Callahan, RW Saturday 11/1, 9:12 PM CT
Ryan Callahan scored his fourth goal of the season in Saturday's 5-2 loss to Toronto.

Our View: He remains a low-end fantasy option, but has scored two goals over his last three games.
Scott Gomez, C Saturday 11/1, 9:51 AM CT
Newsday reports that Scott Gomez sat out Friday's practice due to soreness, but he will play on Saturday.

Our View: Gomez could use the day off and his production should not be effected. He has 11 points through 13 games this season.
