Steven Stamkos, CMonday 8/4, 10:08 AM CT
Brian Lawton praised Steven Stamkos during prospect camp, according to the St. Petersburg Times. Lawton said, "He was tremendous the entire week. He worked hard, is a very humble young man. He really fit in with his teammates out here and made a great impression on everyone, as a player and as a person."

Our View:The 18-year-old center was considered by many to be the best prospect in the 2008 draft, and is off to a good start with the Lightning.
Steven Stamkos, CMonday 7/28, 11:45 PM CT
The Sports Ticker reports that the Lightning on Monday signed Steven Stamkos of the Ontario Hockey League’s Sarnia Sting to the standard rookie deal of three years at an $875,000 base salary and $2.85-million possible through "maximum achievable performance bonuses."

Our View:An 18-year-old center, Stamkos had long been considered the top prospect in this year’s draft. He recorded 105 points in 61 games with Sarnia, finishing second in the league with 58 goals. He will likely play in the NHL next season and should have a sizeable fantasy impact.
Steven Stamkos, CWednesday 7/23, 8:15 PM CT
Steven Stamkos, the pick in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft, will not skate for Canada's World Junior developmental camp next week as he will instead skate with the Lightnings rookies at the clubs developmental camp, according to TSN.

Our View:Stamkos is looking to prove to the Bolts brass that he is fully capable of being an NHL contributor in his rookie season at 18 years old, and apparently this is the best way for him to do just that.
