Casilla impressing Twins at plateThursday 5/29, 11:01 PM CT
Alexi Casilla continued a solid run at the plate with three hits in four AB from the second hole in the Twins order on Thursday.

Our View: Casilla is hitting .326 with 12 RBI in 13 games since being called up, and as a result he is obviously playing himself into fantasy lineups across the land possibly relegating Nick Punto as unnecessary once he is healthy.
Gomez has four hits, caught stealing twiceThursday 5/29, 10:57 PM CT
Carlos Gomez went 4-for-5 with a run scored and two RBI for the Twins. He was also thrown out twice trying to steal.

Our View: Gomez continues to confound conventional wisdom by hitting at a near .300 clip (.293) despite a plethora of K (52) and few walks (five). At some point something will have to change, we would bet on the average falling.
Gordon produces lone run for RoyalsThursday 5/29, 10:52 PM CT
Alex Gordon waited until the ninth inning to get his first hit of the game, one that knocked in the Royals only run against Kevin Slowey and the Twins.

Our View: Gordon is hitting a solid .289, but with only 23 RBI through 53 games, the runs production just hasn't been there. Last year he heated up as the season progressed, hopefully he can do the same thing this year.
Hochevar hit hard in lossThursday 5/29, 10:50 PM CT
Luke Hochevar fell to 3-5 after allowing 12 base runners and five runs over 5.1 innings to the Twins.

Our View: Hochevar continues to struggle with his control walking well over five batters per nine innings, and each ineffective outing finds him closer to being demoted to the minors to work on his location.
Slowey hurls CG gemThursday 5/29, 10:48 PM CT
Kevin Slowey was magnificent on Thursday as he twirled a complete game victory over the Royals. Slowely allowed six hits, zero walks and only one run while throwing just 101 pitches, 74 of which were strikes.

Our View: Many times we worry about pitch counts for youngsters in complete games, so it was great to see Slowey pumping in strikes and keeping the pitch count low. Slowey has won his last two starts and he hasn't allowed more than three runs in any of his six starts.
Konerko hits first May home runThursday 5/29, 10:42 PM CT
Paul Konerko hit his sixth home run of the season which just so happened to be his first in 23 games in May.

Our View: Not only has he had no power to speak of thanks to his hand injury, he also hasn't been able to produce any hits either with a .205 average in May. His luck is bound to change sometime soon, his BABIP is just .230, and when it does he figures to go on an extended run of success.
Pena strikes out two more timesThursday 5/29, 10:38 PM CT
Carlos Pena had another 0-for-4 on Thursday night as he struck out twice and left five runners on base.

Our View: Pena may be on pace for 30 home runs this season, but at a great cost considering his pathetic .223 batting average. With 65 K in less than 200 AB, he is basically mini-Ryan Howard, and this year that's not necessarily a good thing to be.
Jackson keeps club in game, still losesThursday 5/29, 10:36 PM CT
Edwin Jackson wasn't at his best on Thursday allowing 10 hits and two walks in six innings to the White Sox as he also allowed four runs to fall to 3-4.

Our View: Jackson continues to be a solid arm for the Rays though he continues to be an enigma based on his stuff since it doesn't always lead to the desired result.
Danks does it againThursday 5/29, 10:33 PM CT
John Danks lowered his ERA to 2.86 by permitting just one earned run over six innings on Thursday as he evened his record at 4-4.

Our View: Danks has now allowed two or fewer earned runs in eight of his last nine appearances, and he continues to be one of the better starting pitcher option in the AL. Given his uneven performance last season we are dubious that he will be able to continue his current run, but he has been on the money so far this year.
Stewart hits first home runThursday 5/29, 10:30 PM CT
Shannon Stewart hit his first home run of the season on Thursday amidst a three hit, two RBI day for the Jays.

Our View: It only took 148 AB for Stewart to go deep, though his game isn't about power. Unfortunately it isn't about speed anymore either as he has only three steals, so Stewart is only really a stop gap measure when you need an extra bat due to injury.
Barajas over .300 Thursday 5/29, 10:27 PM CT
Rod Barajas had three hits which led to three RBI for the Jays catcher. With this effort, Barajas is now hitting .301 on the year.

Our View: Baragas has been swinging a hot stick in May with a .391 average in 46 AB. Greg Zaun continues to take at-bats away from Barajas, but Rod is looking like a great AL Only play at the moment.
Chavez returns to DH roleThursday 5/29, 10:25 PM CT
Eric Chavez started for the first time all season on Thursday and went 0-for-4 from the DH spot, according to the Associated Press. “I was just a little lethargic. I need to catch up on some sleep,” Chavez said. “I’ll feel better tomorrow I’m assuming.”

Our View: With Frank Thomas on the DL, the A's would love to have Chavez find his stroke the next couple of weeks as he is worked back into a more regular role at third base. Keep an eye on how he progresses, but with the ability to DH he might be in their quite frequently as he finds his game.
Eveland shelled in lossThursday 5/29, 10:22 PM CT
Dana Eveland had his worst outing of the season on Thursday as he allowed seven runs in 4.1 innings against the Blue Jays. Eveland allowed 11 hits and two walks in the outing.

Our View: Eveland saw his ERA climb to 3.66 from 2.90, and while his owners will certainly be disappointed in this effort, you really have no room to complain when looking at the overall body of work considering he threw only five innings in the majors last season.
Litsch improves to 7-1Thursday 5/29, 10:19 PM CT
Jesse Litsch improved to 7-1 on Thursday by limiting the A's to just seven hits and a walk in seven scoreless innings.

Our View: Litsch has done a great job this season with only nine BB in 11 appearances, but he still allows too many home runs and doesn't miss enough bats. You might consider trading him now before the wheels fall off.
Nady hits ninth homer Thursday 5/29, 9:40 PM CT
Xavier Nady went deep and had a double to account for two runs and two RBI for the Pirates.

Our View: Nady continues to perform like an all-star with a .321-9-42 line serving as the NL version of Carlos Quentin giving his fantasy owners a huge return on what was likely a late round grab.
Bay goes deep for 13th timeThursday 5/29, 9:32 PM CT
Jason Bay went deep for the 13th time this season and also hit his ninth double off the year off of Reds starer Aaron Harang on Thursday.

Our View: Bay has been blazing of late with four home runs and 10 RBI in his last nine games and has two or more hits in six of the last seven games to once again resemble the fantasy stud he has been in years past.
DeJesus overcomes hivesThursday 5/29, 8:28 PM CT
David DeJesus returned to action on Thursday after being forced out of the lineup on Wednesday night due to hives, according to MLB.com.

Our View: He must have taken too many of those Flintstones vitamins.
Davies replaces Tomko in rotationThursday 5/29, 7:22 PM CT
Kyle Davies will replace Brett Tomko in the starting rotation beginning on Saturday night, according to MLB.com. "We appreciate everything that Brett's done but, in light of what we're going through right now, obviously the numbers are what they are," manager Trey Hillman said.

Our View: Tomko is 2-6 with a 6.11 ERA leaving little question that this is th best move for the club (moving him to the bullpen). Davies will be recalled from Triple-A where he was 6-2 with a 2.06 ERA in 10 starts. Davies is a marginal pickup in AL Only leagues, while Tomko's value is almost nil.
Ellsbury on way to steals markThursday 5/29, 7:10 PM CT
Jacoby Ellsbury is 20-for-22 on stolen bases putting him on pace to challenge the Red Sox single season stolen base record of 54, according to MLB.com. The record was set by Tommy Harper in 1974.

Our View: Ellsbury's stolen base skills are why he is so valued an addition to a fantasy squad. Hitting at the top of the Sox lineup also doesn't hurt as all those big bats have pushed him across the plate 39 times in 49 games.
Baldelli returns to fieldThursday 5/29, 6:58 PM CT
Rocco Baldelli returned to the field on Thursday going 1-for-5 in extended spring training in his first step toward reclaiming a once promising career, according to the St. Petersberg Times.

Our View: Baldelli isn't likely to see a major league field anytime soon, but given the dire nature of his prognosis mere months ago, its a great day to hear that he is back on the field regardless of the results.
Cabrera continues maturation on hillThursday 5/29, 5:58 PM CT
Daniel Cabrera is working on an extended run of some of the best work in his career and it's largely through the work he has put in to hone his considerable skills, according to MLB.com. "I think his work ethic is improved," added manager Dave Trembley. "He's a lot more consistent with his effort. I think it's just a matter that he's matured, he's grown up and he's gotten a taste of some success, which he's never had before."

Our View: Cabrera still brings with his tremendous right arm considerable risk given his propensity to walk too many batters, but it really seems like he might have turned the corner. Of course, we have thought that before, so if someone presents you a solid offer for the tall righty, you might still want to listen.
Griffey resting on ThursdayThursday 5/29, 5:44 PM CT
Ken Griffey Jr. will not be in the lineup for the Reds on Thursday as he will be given the night off to rest his weary body, according to the Associated Press. “I’ve got to keep him healthy and not let him get fatigued,” manager Dusty Baker said.

Our View: The good news is that there is no specific injury that he is being rested for, but the bad news is that he just hasn't been a productive hitter for the majority of the season including a recent stretch of 90 AB without a home run.
Hill leaves game with injuryThursday 5/29, 5:42 PM CT
Aaron Hill was removed from the game in the seventh inning after a hard collision with David Eckstein appeared to result in some sort of head injury, according to the Associated Press. It appears that Eckstein's arm hit Hill in the head as they went for a popup.

Our View: There is no word yet on the severity of the injury, so we will have to wait and see if he is able to play over the weekend. Joe Inglett entered the game to replace Hill.
Young to get night offThursday 5/29, 5:15 PM CT
Delmon Young will not be in the starting lineup for the Twins on Thursday night putting his 217 consecutive games played streak in jeopardy, according to the Star Tribune.

Our View: Young certainly could use a day off as his production this season has been simply awful. Drafted for his power and speed combination, Young has come through with eight SB, but he has gone 198 AB without a home run and is batting a poor .258. The talent is still there, and Young makes an attractive buy low candidate, but it's clear that a breakout will not occur until at least 2009.
Johnson stars in penThursday 5/29, 5:10 PM CT
Jim Johnson continues to excel in the bullpen for the Orioles leading the club with 29.1 relief innings and a 1.23 ERA, according to the Baltimore Sun.

Our View: Johnson certainly isn't someone who was targeted early in the year, and while he still may only have value in very deep leagues, he has been a welcomed addition to those clubs looking to improve their ratios.
Butler demoted to work on strokeThursday 5/29, 5:01 PM CT
In a somewhat shocking development, Royals DH Billy Butler has been sent back to Triple-A to find his lost stroke at the plate, according to MLB.com. Mike Aviles, Triple-A Omaha's hottest hitter with a .338 average and 42 RBI, was called up for the first time in his career to take the open roster spot.

Our View: Butler has only one home run in 186 AB, but given that he has been in the lineup for the Royals on an almost daily basis since last June, this is still a shock. However, with a .231 average over his last 31 games, it's clear that something needs to be done. Ross Gload likely gets a short-term boost with this move while Aviles figures to be used somewhat sparingly.
Metcalf called up, Duran sent downThursday 5/29, 4:54 PM CT
Travis Metcalf has been recalled to join the Rangers while the team has demoted German Duran, according to the Associated Press.

Our View: Metcalf has only one AB this season with the Rangers, but he hit .255 with five home runs last season for the Rangers. He figures to fill a reserve role behind Ramon Vazquez at third base now that the decision has been made to shift Hank Blalock to first base.
Millwood activated from DLThursday 5/29, 4:49 PM CT
Kevin Millwood, out due to a strained right groin, has been activated from the DL, according to the Associated Press. to make room for Millwood, Kameron Loe was demoted. Millwood will pitch against Oakland on Friday.

Our View: Millwood was hopeful of regaining his past glory this season, but he has been unable to stay healthy short circuiting that plan. At this point of his career he is merely an AL Only play, and even that is a bit of a stretch for a guy with an ERA approaching five (4.88) with a 1.69 WHIP.
Teixeira collects four RBI Thursday 5/29, 3:28 PM CT
Mark Teixeira went 2-for-3 and collected four RBI in Thursday's 8-1 win over Milwaukee. Most of the damage came on a three-run homer, his sixth of the season.

Our View: That was his eighth multi-hit game in May, and the second time he reached four RBI over his last four games.
Posada didn't throw Thursday Thursday 5/29, 3:22 PM CT
Jorge Posada played in an extended spring training game in Tampa against the Blue Jays, and went 1-for-2 with two walks, according to the Journal News. He served as the catcher, but did not throw to the bases during the game. He participated in his throwing program before the game, and threw from 90, 120 and 150 feet and then to the bases.

Our View: Posada will be cleared to throw to the bases in an extended spring game on Saturday in St. Petersburg against the Rays. The Rays will be asked to run so Posada can test his arm. He could be expected back with the Yankees next week, likely Thursday or Friday, barring a setback.
Aybar activated from DL Thursday 5/29, 3:12 PM CT
Infielder Willy Aybar has been activated from the DL, according to the St. Petersburg Times. He will cover the roster spot for closer Troy Percival, who was placed on the DL with his left hamstring strain.

Our View: Aybar is in the lineup for tonight at DH and batting eighth, with Jonny Gomes in rightfield. Aybar was starting at third base prior to his injury, but future star Evan Longoria stepped into that spot. Aybar was hitting .292, but his fantasy value will be limited while working in a utility role.
Percival placed on DL Thursday 5/29, 3:06 PM CT
Troy Percival has been placed on the 15-day DL, according to the St. Petersburg Times. His hamstring injury isn't serious, and he isn't expected to miss more than the 15 days. Executive VP Andrew Friedman said, "We're confident that it’s not anything that’s going to linger into a month or months of missed time and that was first and foremost the most important thing on our minds. Once we got past that, now it’s figuring out how best to handle it." Infielder Willy Aybar has been activated from the DL as an adjoining move.

Our View: The team decided to go the cautious route with Percival, as he has been valuable to the team with 14 saves and a 0.66 WHIP over 21.1 innings, with 21 strikeouts so far in 2008. Dan Wheeler and Al Reyes are likely to split closing duties while Percival is out.
Sweeney could have broken toe Thursday 5/29, 2:58 PM CT
The Athletics fear that outfielder Ryan Sweeney may have a broken toe, according to CBSsports.com. Sweeney was taken for X-rays after fouling a ball off his left foot on Wednesday against the Blue Jays. Sweeney remained in the game in center field, but was taken out an inning later.

Our View: Sweeney has been a decent option in larger AL-only leagues with a .293 average, two homers, and 22 RBI, with three stolen bases over 46 games. We will keep you posted on his status.
Thomas placed on DL Thursday 5/29, 2:38 PM CT
Frank Thomas has landed on the 15-day DL, according to the AP. He has been brought down by inflammation of his right quad. The team hence decided to activate third baseman Eric Chavez from the 60-day DL earlier than expected.

Our View: He isn't expected to be out of action for long. Jack Cust will platoon at DH with Mike Sweeney and Chavez while Thomas is out of action.
Chavez activated from DL Thursday 5/29, 2:33 PM CT
Eric Chavez has been activated from the 60-day DL, according to the AP. The team decided to place Frank Thomas on the 15-day DL due to his right quad injury (inflammation).

Our View: He is expected to play third base every two days, and then serve as DH every third game. He is making an early return, as he wasn't expected to be activated until June 6. Hopefully he can stay healthy, and finally get past his back issues.
Kendrick played back-to-back days Thursday 5/29, 1:41 PM CT
Howie Kendrick played on back-to-back days for Triple-A Salt Lake, according to CBSsports.com. He played seven innings at second base on Wednesday, and went 1-for-3 with an RBI single.

Our View: That was the first time that he played on consecutive days since injuring his hamstring on April 13. Manager Mike Sciosca believes Kendrick could be ready to return to the Angels this weekend.
Figgins decision coming FridayThursday 5/29, 1:35 PM CT
Chone Figgins missed his seventh straight game on Wednesday due to his ailing hamstring, and manager Mike Scioscia stated the Angels will make a decision by Friday whether to place him back on the DL, according to CBSsports.com.

Our View: If he does go back on the shelf, the move would be retroactive to May 22, meaning he would be eligible to return June 6. We will keep you posted on his status.
Twins claim Breslow off waiversThursday 5/29, 1:28 PM CT
The Twins have claimed lefty hurler Craig Breslow off waivers from the Indians, according to the AP. The team transferred Pat Neshek to the 60-day DL as well.

Our View: Breslow allowed three runs on 10 hits over 8.1 innings of work from the Indians' pen this season, with five walks and seven strikeouts. He could help the Twins' pen, but won't likely make much of a fantasy impact.
Jackson to battle Sox Thursday 5/29, 1:22 PM CT
Edwin Jackson will take the hill tonight when the Rays host the White Sox, according to MLB.com. Jackson is 0-1 with an 8.71 ERA in two career starts against Chicago.

Our View: Jackson is only 3-3 this season but his ERA isn't bad at 3.47 and still holds a passable WHIP at 1.39. He has allowed one or less earned runs in four of his last six starts, and would have a better record if not for poor run support from his team-mates.
Danks in action tonight Thursday 5/29, 1:17 PM CT
John Danks will be in action tonight against the Rays in Tampa Bay, according to MLB.com. Danks is only 3-4 this season, but holds a 3.00 ERA and a solid 1.21 WHIP.

Our View: Danks faced the Rays back on April 20, which was his best outing of the season, as he allowed no runs on three hits over seven innings. Danks has also allowed two or less earned runs in all but one of his last eight starts. He is worth starting tonight.
Percival injury not seriousThursday 5/29, 12:58 PM CT
Troy Percival's MRI on his left leg came back clean, and showed no serious damage, according to the Tampa Tribune.

Our View: That doesn't mean he'll avoid a trip to the DL, however. But, if he does land on the DL, the Rays are confident that he'll be back in the minimum amount of time. The hamstring injury is not believed to linger through the season, which is good news as he registered 14 saves with a 0.66 WHIP over 21.1 innings, with 21 strikeouts so far in 2008.
Rios is hot Thursday 5/29, 12:50 PM CT
Alex Rios is 12-for-35 (.343) over his last nine games, according to MLB.com. He will face lefty Dana Eveland when the Jays host the Athletics today.

Our View: Over that nine game span, Rios has scored five runs, with three doubles, six RBI, and three stolen bases.
Eveland to face Toronto at home Thursday 5/29, 12:44 PM CT
Dana Eveland will face the Athletics at home in Toronto today, according to MLB.com. Eveland holds a solid 4-3 record with a 2.90 ERA and 1.16 WHIP over 10 starts this season.

Our View: Eveland shut out the Blue Jays for 6.1 innings in Toronto back on April 10, and he only allowed one run on three hits over nine innings against Tampa Bay in his last start. He should be in your starting lineups for today.
Litsch targeting seventh win Thursday 5/29, 12:39 PM CT
Jesse Litsch will be targeting his seventh win of the season when he battles the Athletics in Oakland today, according to MLB.com. Litsch is 0-1 but holds a solid 1.38 ERA in two outings against the A's.

Our View: Litsch only allowed one walk over his last six starts, and has allowed less than three runs in all but one of those starts over the span as well. He should remain in your lineups today.
I-Rod moved up in orderThursday 5/29, 11:17 AM CT
Ivan Rodriguez has been moved up to sixth in the Tigers' batting order on Wednesday against the Angels, according to CBSsports.com.

Our View: Manager Jim Leyland is trying to generate more production from the lineup. He has batted eighth and ninth most of the season. He hit between Miguel Cabrera and Edgar Renteria in the order Wednesday, but only went 1-for-4 while leaving three men on base, but the Tigers won 6-2.
Hughes update Thursday 5/29, 10:53 AM CT
Phil Hughes won't be cleared to begin throwing for at least another week due to a "hot spot" on his broken rib, according to the NY Daily News. Hughes will have another scan next week to determine if the bone is fully healed.

Our View: As previously stated, Hughes is expected to be out until at least July while he rehabs from the injury.
Kotsay expects to avoid DL Thursday 5/29, 10:28 AM CT
Mark Kotsay stated on Wednesday that his ailing back has improved and he expects to avoid the DL, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Kotsay felt good enough to hit flyballs in the outfield during batting practice, and stated, "I've made a lot of progress from yesterday to today. I'll go out and do some baseball stuff to see how I feel and go from there. I think I'm moving in the right direction with this and staying away from something long-term."

Our View: Kotsay has battled back issues in 2007, but it looks like he won't land on the shelf this time. He is hitting .294 this season, with four homers and 21 RBI, and is enjoying a solid season by his standards.
Musser recalled Thursday 5/29, 10:08 AM CT
Lefty hurler Neal Musser has been recalled from Triple-A Omaha, according to MLB.com. The team is going to place Leo Nunez on the 15-day DL due to a right lat strain, and Musser fills his spot on the roster.

Our View: Musser is 0-4 with a 3.07 ERA and six saves for Omaha this season. His fantasy value will be limited while fighting for playing time out of the Rangers' pen.
Blalock update Thursday 5/29, 9:54 AM CT
If the cortisone shot Hank Blalock received to his right wrist Tuesday has eliminated the soreness in his hand, he could go on a rehab assignment over the weekend and potentially join the Rangers for their series against Cleveland next week, according to the Dallas Morning News.

Our View: The four-game series against Cleveland begins on June 2. He is expected to cover first base when he returns.
Kinsler is a perfect 15-for-15 Thursday 5/29, 9:49 AM CT
Ian Kinsler is a perfect 15-of-15 in stolen base attempts this season, according to the Dallas Morning News. He has not been caught over his last 21 attempts dating back to last season as well.

Our View: Kinsler started off slow, but now holds a solid .294 average with seven homers and 32 RBI, with 45 runs scored over 52 games.
Millwood remains on pace Thursday 5/29, 9:46 AM CT
Kevin Millwood remains on pace to return from the DL on Friday, according to the Dallas Morning News.

Our View: He will start on Friday against Oakland, barring a setback. He is expected to be limited to 85-90 pitches in his first start back, and you should keep him on your bench before considering him for your lineup again, especially since he held a 1.69 WHIP over 48 innings prior to landing on the DL with a strained groin.
Bullington recalled Thursday 5/29, 9:27 AM CT
Pitcher Bryan Bullington has been recalled from Triple-A Indianapolis, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Marino Salas has been optioned as an adjoining move.

Our View: The 27-year starter was 3-6 with a 5.68 ERA at Indianapolis, but won three of his last four starts. He was also named the International League pitcher of the week last week. He has been brought in to provide long relief following two poor starts by Ian Snell and Tom Gorzelanny. He could help the Pirates, but will hold little to no fantasy value.
Thomas recalled Thursday 5/29, 9:10 AM CT
Clete Thomas has been recalled from Triple-A Toledo, according to MLive.com. The team decided to send Matt Joyce down.

Our View: Joyce hit five homers over 18 games, but only hit .208, and Thomas provided a spark earlier in the season as he held a .295 average over 61 games, with four doubles, one triple, and two stolen bases. Manager Jim Leyland opted for speed (with Thomas) over power (Joyce).
Joyce sent to Toledo Thursday 5/29, 9:05 AM CT
Matt Joyce has been sent down to Triple-A Toledo, according to MLive.com. As an adjoining move, the team recalled Clete Thomas. Manager Jim Leyland said, "We really like Joyce. He has a future, he did a good job, but if you're going to have someone sitting around, you'd rather have a little more speed. Thomas provides that."

Our View: Joyce displayed good power potential as he hit five homers over 18 games, but he struggled more often than not, and held a .208 average over 53 at-bats prior to being demoted.
Casilla visits Dr. Andrews Thursday 5/29, 8:55 AM CT
Santiago Casilla visited Dr. James Andrews in Alabama, and Andrews confirmed the original diagnosis, which was a strained elbow ligament, according to the SF Chronicle.

Our View: Casilla already has begun the Athletics' throwing program, and could be back in mid-June if he progresses well.
Chavez may return June 6? Thursday 5/29, 8:49 AM CT
Eric Chavez blasted a homer in his second at-bat at Portland in a rehab start for Triple-A Sacramento on Wednesday and went 1-for-4 while playing nine innings at third base, according to the SF Chronicle. His most likely return date to Oakland right now looks like June 6.

Our View: Hopefully he can stay healthy when he comes back, and finally get past his back issues.
Vlad regressing again? Thursday 5/29, 7:30 AM CT
Vladimir Guerrero was given his second game off in four days on Wednesday, and may be regressing again, according to the LA Times. He hit three home runs last week and appeared as if he was going to get on track, but he struck out in the first inning on Tuesday on an outside ball in the dirt and had another strikeout while looking at a full-count slider with two on to end the sixth inning.

Our View: The disappointment continues for fantasy owners who took Guerrero high on draft day. He is only hitting .258 for the season with seven homers and 28 RBI over 51 games.
Guillen comments after loss Thursday 5/29, 7:22 AM CT
The Royals extended their losing streak to 10 games last night (against Minnesota), and Jose Guillen vented some frustration after the game, according to FanNation.com. Guillen said, "Too many babies in here. They don't know how to play the game and how to win games. That's the problem here. Now I know why this organization has been losing for a while. Now I know. It doesn't have anything to do with our manager. He cares more than anyone."

Our View: Over the losing streak, Guillen has 10 hits, one homer, and six RBI, but the Royals are not getting the job done around him, as he only scored three runs over the span, which all came in one game.
Washburn has start pushed backThursday 5/29, 12:07 AM CT
The Tigers have feasted on left-handed pitching this year, so the Mariners will skip southpaw Jarrod Washburn in the rotation this weekend when the M's play Detroit, according to the Seattle Post-Intelligencer. Washburn has lost his last seven decision against Detroit, and he gave up nine runs in 2 1/3 innings when he faced them last week.

Our View: The Mariners will go with Carlos Silva, Felix Hernandez and Miguel Batista this weekend, and Washburn will be pushed back to next Monday, when he will face the Angels.
Galarraga just misses first shutoutThursday 5/29, 12:02 AM CT
Armando Galarraga allowed two runs on four hits and three walks while striking out four over 8 1/3 innings Wednesday. The righty's bid for a shutout was ruined when Maicer Izturis hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the ninth.

Our View: It's going to be hard for the Tigers to remove Galarraga from the rotation when he has outings like this.
