There's some fluid built up so I've been a little dizzy. It's like that sensation when you get off a plane and your ear needs to 'pop' and it doesn't for a week. It's weird."

Our View: Braun is on day two of a five-day dose of antibiotics but has not noticed much of an effect on his symptoms. His production hasn't taken a hit during his illness, and he is 2-for-2 so far tonight against the Astros, while blasting his 14th homer of the season. Fantasy owners should not be concerned.

Our View: The move is retroactive to May 22, meaning he will be eligible to return June 6.

Our View: Manager Mike Sciosca plans to work Kendrick back in slowly, but noted that his hamstring is 100% healthy again.

Manager Dave Trembley is keeping quiet regarding Steve Trachsel's status in the Orioles' rotation, according to the AP. Trembley isn't ready to put Trachsel back in the rotation, even though there is a spot open for Tuesday against the Twins. Trachsel hasn't pitched in a week, and Trembley said, "I have some options. It depends on what I do in these first two games of this series (against Boston). I’ll probably have a decision after the game tomorrow or first thing Sunday." Matt Albers is believed to be a possibility for Tuesday's start.

Our View: Trachsel won't work out of the bullpen, and if he gets passed again in the rotation, Trembley noted that the team would have to re-evaluate his place on the roster. Trachsel holds a 8.82 ERA and 1.99 WHIP over eight starts, and should be dumped from your roster, regardless of what Trembley does with him.

Trainer Lonnie Soloff said, "Travis is obviously not ready to play right now and we're hoping the DL stint will help him. He didn't quite feel like himself. We feel like the additional time on the DL will help strengthen the shoulder."

Our View: Hafner will be missed, but not much, as he was only hitting .217 with four homers and 22 RBI over 46 games. He could actually benefit from the time off.

Kennedy vs. SantanaFriday 5/30, 3:16 PM CT
Considering how much the team thought of Phil Hughes and Ian Kennedy during negotiations to trade for Johan Santana this past winter, Hank Steinbrenner was asked if he regretted not pushing brother Hal and GM Brian Cashman harder to make a deal. The NY Post reports that Steinberenner stated: "No, because I don't know how much of a difference [Santana] would have made this year."

Our View: Hughes 0-4 with a 9.00 ERA and is currently on the disabled list with a fractured right rib. He isn't expected back until July. How much difference would Santana have made for the Yankees in the first two months of the season? A bunch.

Prospect Mather promoted Friday 5/30, 2:28 PM CT

Our View: The Cardinals need to add some right-handed power, as they face several left-handed pitchers in their next two series. Promoting Mather was a logical move.

The Cardinals optioned left fielder Chris Duncan to Triple-A Memphis on Friday, this according to the St. Louis Post Dispatch. To fill his roster spot the team promoted prospect Joe Mather.

Our View: The move follows Duncan’s prolonged struggle to regain the power stroke apparently sapped by last season’s sports hernia. With daddy "Dave" hanging around everyday, you know this was a tough decision for manager Tony LaRussa.

The Red Sox have recalled Jeff Bailey from Pawtucket and the first baseman will join the team for the weekend series in Baltimore, this according to the Boston Globe. The report notes that it's uncertain whether he'll be activated for the series against the Orioles.

Our View: Whether Bailey is added to the active roster depends on the health and status of Daisuke Matsuzaka. Matsuzaka was scheduled to undergo an MRI this morning but no reports have been published yet. Bailey has been a hot hitter for the PawSox, hitting two more home runs last night in Pawtucket to give him 16 for the season.

According to the San Francisco Chronicle, Alex Hinshaw has emerged as a flame-throwing short reliever with an exceptional curve and a serviceable changeup. He began the season as the closer at Triple-A Fresno, but a string of injuries forced his call-up. "We really like his makeup," pitching coach Dave Righetti said.

Our View: Hinshaw was a starter off-and-on in the minors, and has terrific stuff according to scouts, but he has little fantasy value in traditional formats.
Mulder seeking solutionFriday 5/30, 12:23 PM CT

Our View: The lefthander, who has spent nearly two years in constant rehab, cannot get his arm into the position he needs to pitch effectively. Fantasy owners waiting on the left-hander's return -- need counseling.
Chamberlain figures to start MondayFriday 5/30, 11:37 AM CT
According to the NY Post, Joe Girardi and GM Brian Cashman were undecided whether Joba Chamberlain would start Monday or Tuesday. Monday's game is against the Twins at the Metrodome and would provide a calmer setting than Tuesday night at Yankee Stadium against the Blue Jays.

Our View: Pitching Monday offers two pluses. It would move Andy Pettitte back a day giving him an extra day of rest -- and Chamberlain's father, Harlan, will be on hand to watch on Monday in Minnesota.

Maddux vs. Cain - Part VIFriday 5/30, 11:11 AM CT
According to the Giants' team website, Friday night will be the sixth time that young Matt Cain opposes future Hall of Famer Greg Maddux. Maddux owns 350 career victories and has gotten the better in his confrontations with the 23-year-old Giant. The last time they met in San Francisco, the result was lopsided. Maddux silenced the Giants in their April 7 home opener, allowing one run and three hits in seven innings in an 8-4 Padres triumph. Cain struggled, yielding five runs (four earned) and seven hits while walking five in 4 1/3 innings. The last time they met, period, was much more of a standoff. Cain allowed one run and five hits in seven innings while Maddux blanked the Giants for seven innings.

Our View: Maddux is 3-0 with a 1.84 ERA when he faces Cain. The mirror image is predictable: Cain is 0-3, although his ERA is a respectable 3.66.
