Andrew Miller was roughed up for four runs in the first inning by the punchless Padres on Tuesday. On the night, he lasted five innings, walked four, struck out five, and gave up six hits. He did not allow a run after the first.
Our View: Miller hasn't been able to figure it out in 2007. His ERA is 5.09 after 19 starts. Here's hoping it's just an adjustment period and not foreshadowing the rest of his promising career. |

Our View: Ozzie Guillen has a deep bullpen to pick a replacement closer out of, but he made the wrong choice on Tuesday. Expect him to experiment with other relievers in the role until Jenks returns. |

After throwing 4.1 innings in Jupiter's 5-4 win, Sanchez said he's on track to rejoin the Marlins' rotation by July 28, according to the Palm Beach Post. He allowed two runs on four hits, throwing 49 of his 70 pitches for strikes. He struck out three and walked two. His velocity ranged from 88 to 93. Sanchez, whose rehab stint started last Thursday when he allowed two runs in five innings in a Gulf Coast League game, said he will start again for the Hammerheads on Sunday in Fort Myers. He said that will be followed by at least two starts for Class AA Carolina.
Our View: Sanchez is recovering rotator cuff surgery. His rehab was delayed sue to the tragic death of his son. |

Our View: If nothing else, Rios is playing his heart out. He has six stolen bases in six games this month. |

Our View: The good news is that Zim (who has a partially torn labrum in his left shoulder) was hitting the ball pretty solid, driving it to the gaps. The not-as-great news is that he didn't say he wasn't in any pain, only that his shoulder felt better than it did back before he went on the DL. |

Our View: "I was a little worried at first," Oswalt said. "I was probably throwing 70-80 percent when I first got out there. The last 20 pitches, I threw as hard as I could throw. I didn't feel anything. I wasn't as crisp as my last start, but hopefully it comes back Friday." If it were any other opponent besides Washington, we might caution you against using him, but he should be ok. |

Our View: With Ryan Church headed to the DL, the Mets could certainly use him. However, given Alou's recent history, the brontosaurus has a better chance of returning from extinction than Moises does of lasting a month with the Mets. |

"It's a great feeling now because everything is working," Liriano told the Rochester Democrat & Chronicle. "I think I'm close to where I need to be. I just need to continue doing what I'm doing right now."
Our View: Liriano would be pitching for other teams, but the Twins have little use for him right now. Their starters have been lights out and the team is on a roll. Still expect to see him in majors before the end of the season. If he's on your waiver wire at the All-Star break, you should pick him up. |

Our View: Tendons can be a tricky thing, so don't count on Cuddyer to return before the All-Star break. When he does return, let's hope his production increases. |

Our View: Surgery would be a terrible blow to the Yankees and fantasy owners. The Yanks have had some luck with minor league outfielders such as Brett Gardner, who's value would increase if Hideki cannot return this season. |

J.C. Romero continues to battle his sore groin, according to the Philadelphia Daily News. Romero originally tweaked the muscle during an appearance in Atlanta on June 7, and the ailment continues to nag him, but not to a point where it has kept him from taking the mound. He said, "It's there, you know, but it's nothing where I can't really do my job. It's not going to keep me from pitching. But let's say I'm looking forward to four days off at the All-Star break. I'll tell you that much."
Our View: In his first 34 appearances of the season, he had allowed just four earned runs, but has surrendered five in his last eight appearances. He is not pitching well right now, but Charlie Manuel believes he is going to be alright, and doesn't seem to be headed to the DL.

Joe Saunders is expected to make his start tonight at Texas, according to the OC Register. His pregnant wife is due for delivery, but Saunders said everything is still on hold. The baby can be born any day now, and Saunders said, "If it comes, I'm out of here."
Our View: Saunders, who is 12-4, should be in your lineups tonight, but keep in mind the risk that he could be called away at any time. |

Mike Napoli underwent an MRI on Monday which confirmed he is suffering from shoulder irritation, according to the OC Register. Skipper Mike Sciosca said, "It’s more of a relief than anything. There’s a lot of things that can happen with a shoulder and that’s an area you need to do a lot of things. We’re relieved. Once the inflammation comes out of there and he gets some strength back in that shoulder, he should be able to get back with us and we’re going to need him."
Our View: Napoli is expected to rejoin the Angels in Texas on Tuesday and begin a rehabilitation program. Jeff Mathis is also expected to get nearly all of the work at catcher until Napoli returns.
