Our View: In no way, shape or form does this mean fantasy owners should scramble to pick Harang up. It was one good performance, but let's see him to it another time or two before believing in him again. |

Dave Bush has a 1.78 ERA his past three starts (Reds, Nationals and a great outing against the new-look Dodgers). The right-hander has pitched at least seven innings in five of his last seven games, going 3-1 with a 2.77 ERA in that span.
Our View: The stretch started July 5 against the Pirates, when he allowed just one run and four hits in eight innings of work. Rototimes sources can't say enough good things about Bush's form right now. He is doing everything right. His command is spot on, his velocity is the best it's been at any point in his career, his high fastball is almost unhittable and he's pitching smart. Tonight's opponent, the Pirates, have gone from being a threat offensively with Jason Bay and Xavier Nady (.282 team batting average in July) to an anemic entity at the plate without their two sluggers (.236 team batting average since July 31). The difference between the old and the new Pirate lineups should be enough to help Bush perform at the top of his game tonight. It will also help him overcome what was a negative public opinion early in this year's campaign. All that Iraqi business, you know? |

While it appeared in July that the right-hander was rebounding from a sophomore slump -- and returning to his rookie form -- he's coming off two rough starts. Our View: In Kendrick's last start, against the soft-hitting Padres at PETCO Park, he was tagged for six runs in 3.2 innings. In each of his last two starts he and the Phils bullpen gave up eight runs. That's likely four more than his mound opponent tonight, Greg Maddux, needs for a win. |

He has missed most of the season with chronic soreness in the elbow, and three MRI ecams have revealed no ligament damage.
Our View: The latest MRI was last week with Dr. James Andrews, who recommended Soriano begin a throwing program and, if still sore, that he have an exploratory orthroscopy and possible nerve-transposition surgery.

Dan Haren gave up five earned runs on 11 hits in his last start against the Padres and is aiming to make adjustments when he faces them again at PETCO Park next week, according to the Arizona Republic. The Padres had success against him while aggressively swinging early in the count, and manager Bob Melvin said, "The Padres definitely are a team that's pretty aggressive but surprised me a little last night. Haren just doesn't walk anybody. As dominant as he's been, I think it was a pretty good approach for them. They'll have to face him again at their place, and Danny's pretty good about making adjustments and can throw breaking stuff for strikes early in the count. So we'll see how adjustments go on both sides."
Our View: Haren is 14-6 with a 3.12 ERA and 1.06 WHIP and looks to fare better in his next outing against San Diego. |
