NEWSBREAKERS NASCAR
N'Wide: RCR No. 21 scales backSunday 5/18, 7:05 PM CT
Richard Childress Racing (RCR) has announced they will scale back the appearances for the No. 21 to races for which they have already secured sponsorship. This car has been shared by Bobby Labonte and Stephen Leicht in nine races this year.

Our View: Leicht has been one of the best values as a Nationwide Regular. Fantasy owners should hope sponsorship is found.
N'Wide: Busch to race the GlenSunday 5/18, 6:56 PM CT
Kyle Busch continues to piece together a complete Nationwide schedule; he will run the Zippo 200 at Watkins Glen International for D'Hondt Motorsports.

Our View: In another year, he might not be well valued on the road course, but this is 2008 and he's already won on the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez in Mexico City.
Crablike cars in for a changeSunday 5/18, 6:46 PM CT
Look for NASCAR to make a rules change this week, to restrict the amount of chassis-skewing NASCAR teams are doing. Most notably the Penske cars of Sam Hornish Jr. and Ryan Newman looked like they were about to spin in a straight line.

Our View: That was only an optical illusion, but NASCAR may want to leave it alone. With the lack of passing by the new COT, at least it looks like something is about to happen.
Kahne third at IowaSunday 5/18, 6:36 PM CT
Last year, Kevin Harvick won the All-Star race, hopped on a plane and was beaten by 16-year-old Joey Logano at Iowa Speedway. This year, Kasey Kahne also made the long trek after winning the All-Star race.

Our View: Kahne also had a strong run, but he too finished behind a teenage sensation. Kahne actually finished third behind 22-year old Brian Ickler and 17-year-old Marc Davis.
Marlin likely driver for No. 40Sunday 5/18, 6:26 PM CT
Barring a last-minute, miraculous recovery by Dario Franchitti, Sterling Marlin is the likely candidate to race the No. 40 at Lowe's Motor Speedway for the Coke 600, according to Chip Ganassi.

Our View: Marlin suffered mechanical failure at Darlington that left him several laps off the pace and 600 miles is a long way to go error free. Unless he blisters the track in practice, avoid him this week.
