NEWSBREAKERS NASCAR
Stremme wins Winchester 400Monday 10/13, 6:20 PM CT
David Stremme beat fellow NASCAR driver Kyle Busch in the famed Winchester 400 at the Winchester (IN) Speedway.

Our View: This half-mile track short track is a good place to get some high-banked experience.
Bliss in No. 00 at MartinsvilleMonday 10/13, 6:10 PM CT
In a continued effort to evaluate the No. 00's program, Mike Bliss will be the team's driver at Martinsville.

Our View: Bliss was last in a Cup car in 2007 and he failed to qualify for nine straight races for Beth Ann Morganthal, so even making the show could be a long shot.
Allgaier wins ARCA race/championshipSunday 10/12, 3:06 PM CT
Justin Allgaier inherited the ARCA point lead after Scott Speed and Ricky Stenhouse Jr. eliminated one another. He didn't stop there, however, and claimed the ARCA Champion 200 as well as the championship.

Our View: Two days after making his Nationwide Series debut, Allgaier proved what Roger Penske sees in this talented Young Gun.
Speed shaken in ARCA fracasSunday 10/12, 2:35 PM CT
Scott Speed was shaken up in an accident in the ARCA Champion 200 at Toledo Speedway; he was transported to a local hospital after complaining of discomfort.

Our View: Speed entered the race with a chance to clinch the ARCA championship, but after getting wrecked by Ricky Stenhouse Jr.—his closest competition for the title—he retaliated and destroyed both cars. Short track racing is not for the faint of heart.
Burton wins Lowe'sSaturday 10/11, 10:37 PM CT
Jeff Burton won the Bank of America 500 with a risky pit strategy; on the final pit stop, he chose to take fuel only and held off a number of cars with two tires.

Our View: The key to success this night was to get into the clean air of the lead. Every driver who ran up front was able to lead regardless of the car's strength.
N'Wide: Busch wins Lowe's crashfestFriday 10/10, 11:26 PM CT
Kyle Busch scored his ninth Nationwide victory of the season and his 20th in NASCAR's Big Three divisions in a crash-marred Dollar General 300. This race was also slowed by two rain delays.

Our View: Busch raised the ire of his fellow drivers twice by leading the field slowly to the green; he made his own luck by stacking up the field behind him and creating multi-car accidents.
Stewart wins Lowe's HHFriday 10/10, 6:25 PM CT
Tony Stewart posted the fastest average speed during Happy Hour practice with a speed of 178.779 mph during 43 laps; his fastest single lap was 10th-best at 180.953.

Our View: Stewart was once one of the best "cookie-cutter" races in the game, and fresh off his victory at Talladega, he could be a hidden gem.
Johnson fastest in Lowe's HHFriday 10/10, 6:23 PM CT
Jimmie Johnson posted the single fastest lap in Happy Hour practice for the race 2505 with a speed of 183.007 mph.

Our View: His average speed of 178.759 during 36 laps was the second best on that chart. He remains our favorite to win.
Hornish crashes in Lowe's HHFriday 10/10, 6:05 PM CT
Sam Hornish became the third driver to slap the wall at Lowe's in Happy Hour at the 43 minute mark, following Clint Bowyer and Kyle Busch into the SAFER barrier.

Our View: During the week that Patrick Carpentier was fired by Gillett-Evernham Motorsports, this has been a rough week for rookies. Hornish will almost certainly have to roll out a backup car.
Bowyer slaps wall in Lowe's HHFriday 10/10, 5:43 PM CT
Clint Bowyer slapped the wall during his first lap of Happy Hour practice at Lowe's for the Bank of America 500 and seriously damaged his car; that damage was not enough to necessitate a backup car.

Our View: Backup car or not, this team has had a tough weekend so far and it's hard to think of him as a favorite.
