N'Wide: Franchitti on entry listWednesday 5/28, 11:32 PM CT
A distance of 400 miles might be a little much for Dario Franchitti and his return behind the seat of a stock car. Instead, he'll run the Heluva Good! 200 to warm up.

Our View: Assuming he makes it to the end of the race, Franchitti should be back in action next week at Pocono.
Franchitti picks up speedWednesday 5/28, 11:27 PM CT
Dario Franchitti won't be in the car at Dover, but he picked up speed in the second day of testing at Pocono. His top speed was 167.426 mph.

Our View: Sitting out Dover with the high G forces is a great idea and Chip Ganassi Racing (CGR) is losing all of its momentum with multiple driver and crew chief changes, but Franchitti has shown talent and an ability to rebound.
Ku Busch fastest at Pocono day 2 p.m.Wednesday 5/28, 11:20 PM CT
The speeds picked up in the afternoon of Pocono's day two test, and Kurt Busch led the session with a speed of 169.456 mph.

Our View: Dale Earnhardt Jr. edged Busch for the pole last August, and this has always been one of his better tracks.
Earnhardt fastest at Pocono day 2 a.m.Wednesday 5/28, 11:17 PM CT
Dale Earnhardt, Jr posted the fastest lap in practice in the morning session of Pocono's second day of testing, posting a speed of 167.302 mph.

Our View: Earnhardt earned the pole at Pocono last August with ideal track conditions. He would like to repeat that feat this June.
Haas cars penalizedWednesday 5/28, 11:06 PM CT
As expected, NASCAR has announced the penalties for both Gene Haas cars. The No. 66 driven by Scott Riggs and the No. 70—driven this week by Jason Leffler—have incurred a monetary penalty as well as points deductions and crew chief suspensions.

Our View: NASCAR warned they would get increasingly tough on rules infractions with the COT. The toughest part of the penalties was the 150 points deduction. The No. 70 was already outside the top 35 and now the No. 66 is only five points ahead of 36th.
Mayfield confirmed in No. 40Wednesday 5/28, 10:58 PM CT
It's confirmed: At Dover, Jeremy Mayfield will become the fourth different driver to sub for the injured Dario Franchitti.

Our View: While Chip Ganassi is playing crew chief roulette with Juan Montoya's No. 42 car, he doesn't seem to want to find any rhythm with the driver in the No. 40. It will be quite some time before either of these teams is a good value.
Franchitti back in cockpit, but slowWednesday 5/28, 12:01 AM CT
Dario Franchitti climbed back in the cockpit for Tuesday's test at Pocono Raceway, but his speeds were not overly impressive. His fastest lap of 161.065 mph was only 40th best on the grid.

Our View: While the speed was not encouraging, Franchitti is a little rusty and the important thing is that he is turning laps again.
