Waltrip drops out of the top 35

Michael Waltrip will have to qualify on time at Michigan International Speedway next week. A spin on lap 107 left him a lap off the pace and unable to make up much ground. He finished 37th.

Our View: All three Michael Waltrip Racing team have managed to cling to the top 35 in points. Now that the No. 55 is out, qualifying for races could be as much of a problem as it was for them in 2007.

Allmendinger scores career best at Pocono

A.J. Allmendinger scored his career best NASCAR Sprint Cup result with his 12th in the Pocono 500. It was his second top-15.

Our View: His previous best result came in last fall's Bank of America 500 at Lowe's Motor Speedway and this team has really been coming on strong.

Vickers 2nd in Pocono 500

Brian Vickers held on for a second-place finish in the Pocono 500—and even more impressive, he did that on old tires.

Our View: This was his second top-five of the season and his best result of the year. The No. 88 has been one of the best dark horses all year.

Kahne wins Pocono 500

Sunday 6/8, 5:33 PM CT

Kasey Kahne won the Pocono 500 by nearly four seconds after having to battle back from adversity in the middle of the race.

Our View: On lap 59, crew chief Kenny Francis called an audible to take two tires instead of four, but lugnuts had already been loosened. That sent Kahne to the back of the pack, but he drove back to the front.
