Carl Edwards boasts the best average finish during the past three years, with a 6.8 in six starts. He is the only driver with an average better than 10th.

Our View: Denny Hamlin is close to cracking the 10th-place mark in terms of average finishes, however. He has a 10.0 in his last four starts at Michigan.

Johnson has most 2-mile laps in top 10

Jimmie Johnson has logged the most laps in the top 10 during the last three years on the two-mile tracks of Michigan International Speedway and Auto Club Speedway. He's run up front for 2,709 of 3,787 circuits.

Our View: The Energizer Bunny Matt Kenseth is second with 2,487 laps and teammate Jeff Gordon rounds out the top three with 2,303.

McDowell top Pocono rookie

With a 27th-place finish, Michael McDowell was the Rookie of the Race in the Pocono 500 for the second time this year.

Our View: McDowell must like the difficult tracks. His other top finish came at the "Track Too Tough to Tame," Darlington Raceway.
