Kasey Kahne posted a lap of 92.153 to win his first road course racing pole.

Our View: Kahne has started in the top 10 three times, with a best of second at Watkins Glen in 2006, but he's never cracked the top 15 by the races end.

Ambrose wins Infineon P1

Marcos Ambrose posted the fastest single lap in practice, with a speed of 91.744 mph.

Our View: Ambrose is one of the "go-or-go-home" drivers in the No. 21 Wood Bros. Ford. Unless he makes a mistake in qualification, he should easily be in the show.

Franchitti struggles in P1

Friday 6/20, 3:00 PM CT

Dario Franchitti stalled on track barely 15 minutes into the first practice session and then spun off course at the 24 minute make to bring out two cautions.

Our View: Open wheel driver Franchitti has plenty of road racing experience, but he is struggling in the first practice session for the Toyota / SaveMart 350k. With several road ringers in attendance, there is little incentive to start the No. 40 this week.
