Our View: This was his 17th combined victory in NASCAR's Big Three series with eight wins in Cup, six in Nationwide and three in Trucks.

Johnson crashes in Bristol CTS

Jimmie Johnson wanted to run the Craftsman Truck Series race at Bristol this week to get a little more track time. A "little" more track time is exactly what he got when he crashed just past the mid-point of the race.

Our View: Johnson got loose by himself and struggled to save the car, but couldn't. This won't improve his confidence in the slightest.

No. 42 loses Texaco in 2009

Chip Ganassi will have to find another partial primary sponsor in 2009 for the No. 42 currently driven by Juan Pablo Montoya since Texaco announced they will end their 20-year relationship as a NASCAR sponsor, according to SceneDaily.com.

Our View: After unsuccessfully searching for a sponsor for the No. 40 and with growing unrest by Montoya, Ganassi has some difficult times ahead and this is going to affect their performance.

N'Wide: JGR fined heavily

NASCAR has issued heavy fines and penalties against Joe Gibbs Racing (JGR) after that organization attached magnets to the back of their accelerator in an attempt to stymie NASCAR's horsepower test of Tony Stewart and Joey Logano's Toyotas. A full list of penalties can be found at NASCAR.com.

Our View: Among the penalties are 150 point deductions for both teams and their drivers and indefinite suspensions of the crew and car chiefs. Dave Rogers has been one of the biggest reasons for the success of the No. 20, so this is a huge blow to Logano's odds.
