Kevin Garnett racked up 16 points and six boards in Friday's 89-81 win in Game 6 against Detroit. He also contributed four assists. Boston closed out the series 4-2.

Our View: That was his lowest rebounding total of the series, and tied his worst scoring effort, but he is forgiven as the Celtics move on to the NBA Finals.

Chauncey Billups scored a game-high 29 points, but the Pistons still fell to the Celtics 89-81 in Game 6. He also chipped in six boards and six assists. Detroit lost the series 4-2.

Our View: Billups fought through his injuries to carry Detroit tonight, but his heroic effort just wasn't enough to push a Game 7 against Boston.

Paul Pierce led the Celtics with 27 points in the series-clinching 89-81 win over Detroit in Game 6. He also paced the team with eight boards, along with three assists, two steals, and one block.

Rasheed Wallace has been fined for arriving 15 minutes late for Friday's morning shoot around, according to the Detroit Free Press. He only missed stretching, but Coach Flip Saunders fined him regardless.

Our View: He still started tonight's critical Game 6 against Boston.
Allen will miss Game 6 Friday 5/30, 4:07 PM CT
Tony Allen will miss Game 6 against Detroit due to his Achilles' strain, according to the Boston Globe. Allen made the decision that he wouldn't be playing tonight after testing it during the shoot around this morning at The Palace of Auburn Hills.

Our View: Forward Brian Scalabrine is expected to be activated in Allen's place. Allen is yet to score a point in any of his three appearances in the series against Detroit.
Hamilton will start Game 6Friday 5/30, 12:57 PM CT
The AP reports that Richard Hamilton (elbow) says he will play for the Detroit Pistons against the Boston Celtics in Game 6 of the Eastern Conference finals tonight. Hamilton is averaging 21.7 points, seven more points than any teammate in the playoffs.

Our View: After shooting Friday morning with the team, Hamilton said he had discomfort in his right elbow, but would play through the pain.
Allen breaks out of shooting funkFriday 5/30, 11:58 AM CT
Ray Allen is hoping his strong Game 5 will signal the end of a slump, as he scored 29 points including a late jumper that quashed Detroit's momentum.

Our View: Our View - team needs most from his is to be a perimeter threat. In Wednesday's game 5 he was that, shooting 5-for-6 from beyond the arc.
Allen suffering from Achilles strainFriday 5/30, 11:56 AM CT
Celtics' guard Tony Allen sat out Game 5 with a "mild Achilles strain". He is a game time decision for Friday night's Game 6.

Our View: Forward Brian Scalabrine was activated in his place, though Boston's yet to go very deep into their bench against Detroit.
Sheed needs to focusFriday 5/30, 11:54 AM CT
Rasheed Wallace is one of those fiery players who dances to his own music. Sheed could be seen following Wednesday's loss directing his venom at the officiating crew. Without his perimeter shooting and focus, the Pistons will struggle with the Celts even at home.

Our View: Sheed hit six triples in Game 5 but found time to fly off the handle in a post-game tirade against the referees. The drama resulted in the power forward picking up his sixth postseason technical foul, meaning his next will result in a one-game suspension.
Rip to be a game time decisionFriday 5/30, 11:50 AM CT
Shooting guard Richard Hamilton strained his right elbow in the closing moments on Wednesday, and left the arena in a sling. X-rays were negative, but he's considered questionable and his official status will be unknown until right before game time.

Our View: To say the absence of Hamilton would be a big loss is an understatement. The teams heart and soul is their consistent scorer, and is averaging 22.2 points a game in this series.
Billups and Pistons face eliminationFriday 5/30, 11:48 AM CT
Now facing elimination, Detroit needs Chauncey Billups to stay hot. The Pistons point man is finally starting to look like his old self again, with 26 points, six assists and five rebounds in Game 5.

Our View: The biggest concern is shooting guard Richard Hamilton who strained his right elbow in the closing moments on Wednesday, and left the arena in a sling. X-rays were negative, but he's considered questionable and his official status will be unknown until right before game time.
Perkins steps upFriday 5/30, 11:45 AM CT
Kendrick Perkins came out of nowhere to set new playoff career highs in Wednesday's win with 18 points and 16 rebounds.

Our View: Perkins has picked up his play after being chastized by the Boston media. The double-double was his second of the series, but only his fourth in the teams 19 playoff games.
Gasol dominates in winFriday 5/30, 12:14 AM CT
Pau Gasol scored only 12 points on 5-for-15 shooting, but the big news was the fact that he pulled down 19 boards, dished out five assists and blocked four shots as the Lakers advanced to the NBA Finals.

Our View: When Gasol joined the Lakers they really took off, and he, Kobe and Lamar Odom form a formidable threesome that would likely provide some great action if they were to face off against the Celtics and their big three in the Finals.
Ginobili goes out with a whimperFriday 5/30, 12:11 AM CT
Manu Ginobili was held to just 3-for-9 shooting leading to nine points in the Spurs final game of the season on Thursday night.

Our View: Ginobili just ran out of gas as his injured ankle limited him severely toward the end of these playoffs as he scored in single digits in three of his last four games.

Tim Duncan did his all to keep the Spurs from being eliminated from the playoffs, but it wasn't enough as the Spurs fell 100-92 to the Lakers.

Our View: Duncan scored 19 points with 15 boards and 10 assists in a spectacular all-around performance that was all for not. He and his mates now will have a couple of months to gear up for another playoff run next year.

Our View: Bryant took a whopping 30 shots on the night, hitting 16, and he was perfect from the free-throw line going 5-for-5. Bryant appears to be on a mission and will likely give whomever emerges from the East all they can handle.
