Kings sign up-and-coming guard BrownWednesday 7/23, 8:32 PM CT
Summer-league sensation Bobby Brown has come to terms on a guaranteed contract with the Sacramento Kings, according to ESPN.com.

Our View: Sources told ESPN.com that Brown rejected multiple lucrative offers from overseas after netting a two-year deal from the Kings on the strength of a strong debut season as a pro in Germany and a productive showing in Las Vegas as the lead guard for the New Orleans Hornets' summer squad. The Hornets were among a handful of NBA teams that tried to sign Brown in the last week, with New Orleans star guard Chris Paul calling the 23-year-old personally to urge him to come to training camp in October. Golden State Warriors coach Don Nelson is another Brown fan who was spotted at several of the Hornets' games in Vegas. But the Kings won the race to sign him by commiting two years to Brown, who helped Alba Berlin win the German club championship last season. The second year of Brown's new deal, sources said, is a player option. Undrafted in 2007 after attracting little attention while at Cal State Fulleton, Brown drew raves in Vegas with his improved floor leadership and decision-making to complement his athleticism and scoring ability. Although he's considered more of a combo guard than a pure point guard, Brown outplayed three first-round picks -- Memphis' Mike Conley, Charlotte's D.J. Augustin and San Antonio's George Hill -- in head-to-head matchups.
LeBron to miss exhibition vs CanadaWednesday 7/23, 8:19 PM CT
As the basketball world turns to the Olympics, we have learned the recent ankle injury suffered by LeBron James will keep the top NBA player out of action as the USA squad faces Canada in exhibition action, according to SLAM Sports.

Our View: It is a precautionary measure and the ankle injury is considered a mild sprain, nothing that should keep him out of action that matters. Until he's at full health, the team will play the cautionary role and keep him out of game action.
Denver brings the Birdman backWednesday 7/23, 7:31 PM CT
Chris Anderson has returned to Denver, signing a one-year deal with the Nuggets, according to the Rocky Mountain News.

Our View: The Birdman was a fan favorite during his previous tenure in Denver, and with the cost of Marcus Camby sent along to the Clippers, they have room to make the deal and add the high-flying forward back to the lineup. After signing with the Hornets as a free agent in 2004, Anderson was banned from the NBA for violating the league’s substance abuse policy before being reinstated on March 4, 2008. He rejoined the Hornets upon his return but appeared in only five games.
Clips trade Knight to Utah for HartWednesday 7/23, 7:25 PM CT
The Los Angeles Clippers have traded guard Brevin Knight to the Utah Jazz in exchange for fellow guard Jason Hart, according to SLAM Sports.

Our View: The 32-year-old Knight, who joined the Clippers as a free agent in August, averaged 4.6 points, 1.9 rebounds and 4.4 assists and 22.6 minutes in 74 games last season. He finished second in the NBA with a 4.62-1 assists-to-turnover ratio. Hart joined the Jazz as a free agent after splitting the 2006-07 season between the Sacramento Kings and the Clippers, averaging 9.0 points and 4.0 assists in 23 games for Los Angeles. He enjoyed his best NBA season with Charlotte in 2004-05, averaging 9.5 points, 5.0 assists and 1.1 rebounds in 74 games.
Childress heads for Greece Wednesday 7/23, 9:12 AM CT
Josh Childress has left the Hawks and the NBA as he decided to sign with Olympiakos of Greece, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. He agreed to a three-year deal worth more than the $20 million he was seeking to remain in the NBA.

Our View: Atlanta loses one of his best players. He averaged 11.1 points over 285 career games with the club.
Sharpe inks with Detroit Wednesday 7/23, 9:05 AM CT
Second-round pick (32nd overall) Walter Sharpe has agreed to a two-year deal with the Pistons, according to the AP. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Our View: Sharpe has strong upside, but is raw and needs time to develop and adapt to the NBA, meaning his fantasy value will be limited as a rookie.
Pistons sign Bynum Wednesday 7/23, 9:01 AM CT
Will Bynum has agreed to a two-year deal with the Pistons, according to the AP. The contract offers $700,00 guaranteed, and includes a team option for the second year.

Our View: The team feels he is a great athlete, but he hasn't played in the NBA since the 2005-06 season with Golden State, when he only averaged 3.6 points over 15 games. He is not expected to be fantasy worthy with a fresh start with Detroit.
