NEWSBREAKERS NBA
Hendrix signs with Warriors Thursday 7/24, 9:26 PM CT
The Warriors have signed second-round pick Richard Hendrix (Alabama), according to the SF Chronicle. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.

Our View: Hendrix has some upside, but isn't likely to make a fantasy impact as a rookie.
Ellis signs with Warriors Thursday 7/24, 8:52 PM CT
Monta Ellis signed a six-year deal worth $66 million to remain with the Warriors, according to the Contra Costa Times.

Our View: By the size of the contract, it appears that Ellis would have the edge over Marcus Williams for the starting point guard job next season. He averaged 20.2 points last season, and could significantly improve on his assist totals (averaged 3.9 per contest) while running the offense from the point guard position.
Ivey joins SixersThursday 7/24, 8:40 PM CT
Royal Ivey has left the Bucks as he agreed to a deal with the Sixers, according to the AP. It is believed to be a two-year contract.

Our View: Ivey is a good defender and should fit in well as a bench performer for the Sixers. His fantasy value will remain limited.
Warriors match offer for Azubuike Thursday 7/24, 4:24 PM CT
The Warriors have matched the Clippers' offer for Kelenna Azubuike, according to the AP. On July 18, the Clippers offered Azubuike a reported three-year deal worth $9 million, and the Warriors had seven days to match it. Warriors' VP of basketball operations Chris Mullin said, "We are pleased to have Kelenna back in the fold. He’s a young and talented player who has continued to improve during his two seasons with our team."

Our View: He is a good athlete with solid three-point range, and will continue to serve as a key reserve for Golden State.
Garbajosa will play in RussiaThursday 7/24, 2:29 PM CT
Jorge Garbajosa has signed with Khimki BC to play in Russia next season. He will be teammates with former NBA guard Carlos Delfino.

Our View: Garbajosa played just seven games with the Raptors last season as he battled leg and ankle injuries. With such questionable health, it is unlikely he will return to the NBA.
Posey to be sixth manThursday 7/24, 10:11 AM CT
Byron Scott told the Times-Picayune that he plans on using James Posey in a sixth-man role. "I've got so many things I can do with him that I've got to try and figure this all out. He can spread the floor and make shots," Scott said.

Our View: At the moment, Morris Peterson remains the starter despite averaging career-lows in points (8.0), rebounds (2.7) and steals (0.6), with 41% shooting and less than one assist per game. Expect Posey's numbers to improve upon last season's.
Ivey to the 76ersThursday 7/24, 9:50 AM CT
Philly.com reports that the 76ers have reached an agreement with Royal Ivey, who spent last season with the Milwaukee Bucks and the first three seasons of his career with the Atlanta Hawks.

Our View: The Sixers see Ivey as an off-the-bench complement to Williams because of his size and defensive ability. He averaged 5.6 points and 2.1 assists in 75 games last season, making 20 starts.
Allen may be sixth manThursday 7/24, 9:47 AM CT
Danny Ainge had plenty of positive things to tell the Boston Globe about Tony Allen. "He has been our best perimeter defender the last few years, when he got a chance to play. He's a guy the coaches and his teammates trust as a perimeter defender. He is also one of the toughest guys we have on the team, he's an instigator physically. He's an aggressive, attacking offensive player we really didn't have... He didn't contribute as much as he could because of the knee injury. When [Allen] had a chance to play significant minutes last year - actually the last few years - he played really well. He struggled in short-minute roles. We were 9-2 when he started. Our defense was better when he was on the court. In plus-minus we were plus-31 with Tony on the court as a starter.

Our View: Allen could be the sixth man in the Celtics coming season and would start should Allen or Pierce go down with an injury. He is a good source of steals but it remains to be seen how much he'll actually contribute next season.
Andersen joins NuggetsThursday 7/24, 9:36 AM CT
ESPN.com reports that Chris Andersen has signed a one-year deal with the Denver Nuggets.

Our View: Andersen played in only five games last season and none the previous season. If Nene or Kenyon Martin are to get injured, which is entirely likely, he could be an excellent source of blocks.
Landry could land in EuropeThursday 7/24, 9:24 AM CT
Carl Landry could play in Europe next season according to the Houston Chronicle. "There is serious interest in Carl by both other NBA teams and internationally," Landry's agent, Buddy Baker, told Houston television station KRIV-TV on Wednesday.

Our View: Simply put, the Euroleague has more money to spend this offseason than NBA teams. The Rockets botched this move by making abnormal demands of Landry prior to re-signing him. If he bolts, rookie Joey Dorsey will likely be the biggest benefactor.
Wade looking goodThursday 7/24, 8:21 AM CT
The AP reports that Dwyane Wade has seemingly bounced back strong after his knee cost him the second half of last season. "I think Dwyane has been terrific," Krzyzewski said. "The stuff he and (trainer) Tim Grover have done together in coming back shows that he's made an amazing commitment to being in topflight shape and getting over his injury. He's been kind of the most pleasant surprise of our three days because he didn't know what to expect because he was out the last portion of the season."

Our View: This is certainly good news for the Miami Heat star. Keep an eye on him throughout the Olympics. He relies heavily on driving to the hoop and drawing contact, so any injury could be exacerbated at any time.
