Mathis signs onFriday 4/4, 10:08 PM CT
The Redskins signed Jerome Mathis on Friday. The oft-injured receiver/return man could end up returning kicks but won't be a factor in the passing game.
Pacman-to-Dallas has new lifeFriday 4/4, 8:47 PM CT
ESPN's Ed Werder is reporting that Pacman Jones has said he is willing to forego money he has earned from and is owed by the Titans if the team drops its insistence he repay a similar amount of signing bonus. This news really enhances the chances that Jones will end up in Dallas. The Titans reportedly requested a 2008 fourth-round pick, as well as another pick in 2009. Stay tuned.
Barnett welcomes helmet speakerFriday 4/4, 3:58 PM CT
Green Bay head coach Mike McCarthy said earlier this week that Nick Barnett would be the most likely member of the Packers’ defense to wear the helmet with the newly approved radio receiver this season. And the middle linebacker welcomes the change, if for no other reason than to help level the playing field between the offense and defense during a game, according to Packers.com. "I definitely think it's a great thing, due to the fact that offense has that in their helmet and they can hear the coaches and they don't waste any time trying to figure out what each signal is," Barnett said. "That stuff is hard to do when you're tired and it's the fourth quarter and you can't find the coach through the crowd. I think it definitely will eliminate some communication problems as far as what the calls are, and open up lines of communication when we're on the field." The one-way device will operate much like the one the quarterback has on offense, with a coach able to communicate with the player from the time the 40-second play clock starts until 15 seconds remain, or until the snap, whichever comes first.
NFL Network won’t be a pay serviceFriday 4/4, 3:12 PM CT
Several of the nation's cable operators keep insisting on making the NFL Network available only on a pay-extra sports tier, but NFL Network president Steve Bornstein said this week the league never will accept that, according to the Miami Herald. “We'd shut it down before we ever did that kind of deal. We're all about mass distribution and wide availability of our product. And there's no reason we want to make this an elitist product,” Bornstein said. Comcast, which services much of South Florida, has already moved the NFL Network to a tier, charging an extra $5 per month without the NFL's permission - the matter is now in court.
Henry spends extra night in jailFriday 4/4, 2:54 PM CT
Former Cincinnati receiver Chris Henry was released from jail today, after spending an extra night, because no one was available to provide a court-ordered monitoring device, according to CBS Sportsline. Henry was released from the Hamilton County jail today, although his $51,000 bond was posted Thursday night.
Wright remains jailed in TexasFriday 4/4, 2:43 PM CT
Cleveland Browns defensive back Kenny Wright remained jailed Friday after police said he led them on a quarter-mile foot chase that began in the parking lot of the police station, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer. The 30-year-old Wright faces misdemeanor charges of unlawful restraint, evading arrest and possession of marijuana. He remained in the Pearland City Jail on Friday morning with his bond set at $5,000. Wright was a fourth-round pick in the 1999 draft by the Minnesota Vikings and has played one season for Cleveland. The nine-year veteran also has played for Houston, Jacksonville and Washington. He has seven career interceptions.
Carolina expected to draft linemanFriday 4/4, 2:32 PM CT
Team insiders said there is an 80 percent chance that the Carolina Panthers will select an offensive lineman with the 13th overall pick in the NFL draft, according to Pro Football Weekly. Carolina has focused a lot of their attention on the offensive line during the offseason, in preparation to become more of a power running team in 2008. This tidbit could be a smokescreen, as the team has also been rumored to be looking at a running back, such as Rashard Mendenhall or Jonathan Stewart in the first round.
Marinelli on solid ground Friday 4/4, 2:16 PM CT
Rod Marinelli was given a major endorsement from both vice chairman Bill Ford Jr. and GM Matt Millen during this week’s owner meetings in Palm Beach, Florida, according to Pro Football Weekly. Both men enunciated their support for the head coach, despite his record of 10-22 since taking over, and spoke of how much more of an influence Marinelli has had recently over the shaping of the roster. Case in point, Millen had to agree with Marinelli’s assessment that defensive tackle Shaun Rogers never was going to meet his expectations with Detroit, so he was jettisoned out of town. Now only 13 players remain on the roster that Marinelli inherited when he became coach in 2006. Expect his influence to carry a big effect on what the Lions do in the draft in a few weeks.
Campbell will take time to developFriday 4/4, 2:07 PM CT
Washington Redskins head coach Jim Zorn told the media at the owners’ meetings this week that QB Jason Campbell will have to “develop over several years” in order to grasp the complexities of the West Coast system, according to Pro Football Weekly. Zorn was quick to praise Campbell’s footwork, which is something the two of them have spent the most time working on since he was named head coach. Although the entire offense has yet to be installed, Zorn has a working playbook that will be ready to be implemented in mini-camp. Campbell already has a decent feel for the plays he'll be expected to run. For the record, Hasselbeck threw 22 touchdowns against 18 interceptions in his first 22 starts in the West Coast scheme. Those statistics came after he learned on the sidelines for two seasons. The scheme can be difficult to assimilate, making Campbell a mid-range backup quarterback in the fantasy world.
Kansas City could move downFriday 4/4, 1:37 PM CT
Michigan offensive tackle Jake Long is believed to be the top target on the Kansas City Chiefs’ draft board, but assuming he’s gone, the organization will work the phones to try to move down, according to Pro Football Weekly. “I think they’ll want to go about 5-to-7 spots down,” a source close to the team told PFW. “That way, they still should be able to take Boise State offensive tackle Ryan Clady or Pittsburgh offensive tackle Jeff Otah to help their line.” It’s no secret that Kansas City needs a stellar draft class to have a fighter’s chance of making a playoff run in 2008. Coach Herm Edwards’ recent assertion that he hopes between 50-75 percent of his draftees earn starting roles only highlights that need. So, in a somewhat perverse line of logic, the organization could opt for quantity over quality in the draft.
Carroll unhappy with combat drillFriday 4/4, 1:20 PM CT
USC head coach Pete Carroll was unhappy with the hand-to-hand combat drill at USC's Pro Day, where his college players engaged with a former NFL player, according to the Los Angeles Times. Carroll reportedly told the media, "That won't happen again here." The drill definitely looked like the hardest of the day. Sedrick Ellis (chuckling at times) told LA Times reporter Gary Klein, "That was a sleeper. I didn't know that one was coming. You see it on film but you're never quite ready for that until it happens. That drill's a doozy, man." We’re unsure why Carroll would have issues with a football drill, that could ultimately help one of his player’s draft status.
Arizona re-signs PetersFriday 4/4, 1:13 PM CT
The Arizona Cardinals have announced that they have re-signed center Scott Peters, according to Pro Football Talk. Peters, a 2002 fourth-round draft pick of the Eagles, spent most of 2007 on the Cards’ practice squad.
Wimbley a star in the making?Friday 4/4, 1:02 PM CT
Kamerion Wimbley is widely regarded around the league as a star in the making, even after a five-sack season in 2007, according to Pro Football Weekly. Wimbley, who has started 31 games for Cleveland during his first two seasons, has compiled 16 sacks. The additions of defensive tackles Shaun Rogers and Corey Williams, could open up the pass rushing lanes for the Browns’ outside linebacker in 2008.
CB Robinson encouraged with rehabFriday 4/4, 12:52 PM CT
Dunta Robinson probably won't return to the Houston Texans lineup until the middle of this season, but the cornerback is encouraged with the progress he's made in recovering from the serious knee injury he suffered last November, according to NFL.com. The beginning of the Texans' offseason-conditioning program this week gave Robinson a chance to reunite with his teammates for the first time since surgery to repair a torn anterior cruciate ligament and injured hamstring. Robinson isn't sure of an exact timetable for his return, but feels like he's ahead of schedule.
Linehan confident in LT PaceFriday 4/4, 12:28 PM CT
The St. Louis Rams’ existing situation at left tackle is dicey at best with Orlando Pace coming off shoulder surgery, but head coach Scott Linehan is confident that Pace will be ready for his 12th season, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. "Yeah, I am," Linehan said. "I should say I'm encouraged. First of all, he [Pace] had the injury in early September, so he's coming off seven months (of recovery and rehabilitation). And his work ethic has been outstanding about coming back. He's got a great attitude about it." Last season, the Rams only received 18 of 80 possible games from their projected offensive line starters. As a result, Linehan is on thin ice in 2008, and banking on Pace to play the full 16 game slate, might not be smart money. The Rams have reportedly narrowed down their first-round draft pick to offensive tackle Jake Long and defensive tackle Chris Long. Both are major areas of need, but it might be in Linehan’s best interest to fortify the offensive line after last season’s debacle.
Rooney envisions 17-game seasonFriday 4/4, 11:58 AM CT
Pittsburgh Steelers owner Dan Rooney isn't lobbying, but he believes the day will come when teams will play 17-game regular seasons and three-game exhibition seasons, according to the Rocky Mountain News. "If we went to 17 games, one of those would be in a different place," Rooney said. The 17th game for each team would likely be at a neutral site, perhaps even an international affair.
NFL continues work on HGH testFriday 4/4, 11:54 AM CT
The NFL continues to work to develop a urine test for human growth hormone, commissioner Roger Goodell said this week, according to the Rocky Mountain News. Goodell also said the league has spent $3.5 million in the past 18 months on the effort.
Denver running back updateFriday 4/4, 11:48 AM CT
Denver head coach Mike Shanahan has said repeatedly he doesn't consider Selvin Young or Andre Hall to be big enough to be every-down backs, and this week intimated that Travis Henry would need a "great offseason program" to be considered one again, according to the Rocky Mountain News. The article goes on to speculate that Shanahan could utilize his first-round draft choice (12th overall) to select a running back capable of carrying the load. During Shanahan’s tenure, Denver has not selected a running back in the first round of the NFL draft. The closest foray into that uncharted world came in 2006, when the Broncos' would have taken Laurence Maroney, if Jay Cutler had been off the board.
Harbaugh impressed with O-lineFriday 4/4, 11:38 AM CT
Baltimore head coach John Harbaugh is pleasantly surprised after evaluating his young group of offensive linemen, according to the Carroll County Times. “I think one thing that really jumps out is the offensive line,” Harbaugh said. “I think it’s really got a chance to be tough, physical and athletic.” The biggest question facing the Ravens’ offensive line is the likelihood of having to replace Jonathan Ogden, an 11-time Pro Bowl selection who’s leaning toward retirement. If Ogden chooses to retire, the top two candidates to start at left tackle are Adam Terry, a 6-foot-8, 330-pound former second-round pick from Syracuse who started nine games last season, and Jared Gaither. Although Gaither, 22, needs more seasoning after playing in six games as a rookie, it’s hard to find someone that’s 6-9, 350 pounds with his ability to move. Last season, Baltimore finished 16th in rushing offense (112.3 yards per game) and allowed 39 sacks, which ranked 21st in the league.
Payton believes in Sparano Friday 4/4, 11:24 AM CT
New Orleans head coach Sean Payton believes Tony Sparano is well prepared to be the head coach of the Miami Dolphins, according to the South Florida Sun-Sentinel. "The reason he'll do well is because the players will trust what he's trying to tell them, and they'll buy into what he's telling them," Payton said. "His ability to communicate has always been one of his strong suits. He's very honest with them. There's no hidden agendas with him." Plus, Sparano has an advantage; the opportunity to simply walk down the hall to seek Parcells' counsel.” Payton and Sparano worked together as Dallas offensive assistants before Payton left to become the coach of the New Orleans Saints.
Miami undecided on defensive schemeFriday 4/4, 11:14 AM CT
Despite Bill Parcells' history of running a 3-4 defense at his four coaching stops, the Miami Dolphins' vice president of football operations has left that decision in the hands of his coaches, according to the South Florida Sun-Sentinel. Head coach Tony Sparano remained non-committal this week on what set the Dolphins would use this season, saying that decision won't be made until the team begins practicing during July's training camp. "We just want to see them play," Sparano said. "We want to see what we have out there." Sparano said it is important that a defense create an identity, and that he will likely stay away from a hybrid scheme that combines the 4-3 and 3-4, such as the one the Dolphins have used the past three years.
Utecht could pick up slackFriday 4/4, 11:01 AM CT
Cincinnati offensive coordinator Bob Bratkowski points to tight end Ben Utecht, as a player who could pick up the slack following the release of receiver Chris Henry, according to Bengals.com. Bratkowski, who used to have the NFL's deepest pool of wide receivers at his fingertips, suddenly has just 40 career catches in his system behind T.J. Houshmandzadeh and Chad Johnson on the wide receiver depth chart. This lack of experience will likely result in the Bengals’ implementing more double tight-end sets in place of the three-receiver formations. Utecht has caught 68 balls the past two seasons in Indianapolis, while sharing time with Dallas Clark, so he's definitely a young player to keep an eye on in 2008.
McCarthy provides O-line updateFriday 4/4, 10:54 AM CT
Head coach Mike McCarthy might be overly optimistic, delusional or able to see things others can't, but he’s not overly concerned about his offensive guard situation, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. "We need to improve inside in the run game," McCarthy said. "There were a number of situations - and it's more technique and recognition - but not making excuses, part of it is being young and part of it you can attribute to us rolling guys in there. We need to continue to find that continuity." There's nothing to debate when it comes to the play of the guards in the running game the last two seasons. It wasn't good at all, but McCarthy insists it isn't as bad as it looked and will get better once the competition between Jason Spitz, Daryn Colledge, Allen Barbre, Junius Coston, Tony Moll and Tony Palmer is complete.
CB Woodson fully healedFriday 4/4, 10:46 AM CT
Charles Woodson is fully recovered from the knee and turf toe injuries, which limited him towards the end of the 2007 season, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. "Charles is doing great," head coach Mike McCarthy said. "He's been in Green Bay a bunch. I mean, I walked through the training room a number of times and he's been in there; he's been working out. Physically, I know he's doing very well. Doc (Pat) McKenzie says he's totally recovered from his injuries and said he looks great." During the second half of the season, Woodson mostly practiced on Fridays, taking Wednesdays and Thursdays off to rest his knee. McCarthy said that might have been a problem if Woodson hadn't shown toughness on Sundays, but he said he was more than satisfied with his play.
Favre squelches comeback talkFriday 4/4, 10:35 AM CT
Brett Favre, startled this morning to see the enormity of a report on a morning sports show that he might play football again, said he is not considering coming out of retirement, according to SI.com. "That's the last thing I'm thinking about,'' Favre told SI.com. "I have no idea where that came from, but it certainly didn't come from me. I'm happy about my decision and I haven't once said, 'I wonder if I made the wrong decision.' I know it's the right one.'' Ninety-nine percent of what he said in a 20-minute conversation was very much about football being in the rearview mirror. And he certainly would not want the Packers or any other team to line up, hoping he'd change his mind in August and come in to save a sorry quarterback situation.
Madden reached out to CoughlinFriday 4/4, 10:30 AM CT
Interesting tidbit from New York head coach Tom Coughlin, who revealed that after he opted to play his starters in the 2007 regular-season finale against the New England Patriots, Hall-of-Fame coach and legendary broadcaster John Madden called and left him an emotional voice mail message, according to NFL.com. On the message, Madden saluted Coughlin for his decision and the Giants for the way they played. Madden went on and on in his praise, and the message left its mark on Coughlin. He was so moved by the voicemail that Coughlin played it for his entire team the week before they played against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the opening round of the playoffs. It was there that the Giants started the run that became one of the most memorable in NFL postseason history, ultimately beating the same New England team that they lost to in the regular-season finale.
Could Walsh lack evidence?Friday 4/4, 10:26 AM CT
There is a feeling from people in the know that former New England employee Matt Walsh lacks the evidence that some think he has on his former team, according to NFL.com. NFL commissioner Roger Goodell, in his strongest comments to date, even went as far as to challenge Walsh to step forward with any evidence that he has implied he has. “I don't like anyone putting out accusations about the league or any of our clubs like that,” Goodell said. “If he has said that he has evidence, I would like to see that. I've said from the beginning of this incident that if there's new information that comes to the public or to me, I have the right to reopen this issue and I will. But the reality is that we haven't gotten any new facts here for seven months.” The commissioner and the owners obviously want to see this public relations nightmare resolved, but for now the topic will not go away.
Davis’ role explained by KiffinFriday 4/4, 10:20 AM CT
Anyone who had any questions about who was making the decisions for the Oakland Raiders had them answered this week, when head coach Lane Kiffin described the role of team owner Al Davis, according to NFL.com. About Davis’ role, Kiffin said: “Because of the fact that we don’t have a general manager, he’s really the general manager. He’s kind of the general manager, director of college scouting, director of pro personnel and sometimes the defensive coordinator.” Nothing groundbreaking here, we already knew this, but it’s refreshing that Kiffin had the guts to say it publicly.
Raiders to host Jake LongFriday 4/4, 10:10 AM CT
Just because offensive lineman Robert Gallery failed to develop into the Pro Bowl player the Oakland Raiders hoped he would, doesn’t mean the organization would hesitate to pick another offensive lineman at the top of the draft, according to NFL.com. The Raiders are planning to bring Michigan offensive tackle Jake Long to Oakland early next week for a visit with team officials. Long, 6-7 and 315 pounds, is widely considered the top offensive lineman in the 2008 NFL draft. Despite this visit, the rumor mill continues to have the Raiders' selecting running back Darren McFadden in the four hole.
Ayodele’s future in Dallas in doubt?Friday 4/4, 10:00 AM CT
Since the Dallas Cowboys signed linebacker Zach Thomas in February, Akin Ayodele's future has been in doubt, according to the Ft. Worth Star-Telegram. Owner Jerry Jones said he has not talked to Ayodele, but will soon. "Anybody we have in our preseason program and who we played with last year and who we've got back and who is on our roster right now, certainly they have a good chance to be involved [next season]," Jones said. "But that doesn't in any way imply that we won't be working our roster and doing some things different on the roster, which gives rise to, 'Well, can you say for sure that Akin is going to be your starter next year,' and I can't." Ayodele is entering the third year of a five-year, $17.5 million contract he signed as a free agent after leaving Jacksonville. Ayodele, who has started 30 of 32 regular-season games in his two seasons with Dallas, has compiled 141 tackles, one sack and two interceptions during the past two campaigns.
CB Williams disputes court recordsFriday 4/4, 9:44 AM CT
Brian Williams, according to recently obtained court records, launched into a racially charged tirade filled with profane and sexual remarks directed at Jacksonville police during a 2006 drunken driving arrest, according to Florida Times-Union. After receiving a six-month probation sentence and having his license suspended as a result of his guilty plea following the incident in September, 2006, Williams returned to court asking to withdraw the plea. He was allowed to withdraw the plea three months ago, which means a new case will be tried. Head coach Del Rio said he recently spoke with Williams, who denied having made such remarks. "He basically said he did not make comments like that and was offended by the fact that it was said that he had," Del Rio said. "Brian has assured me he has a different version [of what occurred] and I think it's important to let the process play out here. You have two individuals that have a different interpretation of what occurred. He has the legal right to pursue and do the things he's doing and I think we have to allow that right to be carried out." Williams was never suspended or fined by the team for the arrest.
Dixon works out for NFL scoutsFriday 4/4, 9:35 AM CT
Quarterback Dennis Dixon worked out for NFL scouts at Oregon’s pro day, according to the Salem Statesman Journal. Dixon displayed little rust in the 45-minute workout, despite being three months removed from knee surgery to repair a torn anterior cruciate ligament. "I'm not 100 percent on the knee yet," Dixon said. "Once it comes, watch out." Dixon, who expects to be at full strength when rookies report to NFL camps in July, is totally committed to football despite the fact that he was selected in the fifth round of the 2007 Major League Baseball draft by the Atlanta Braves. Dixon is projected as a late-round pick.
White assigned court dateFriday 4/4, 9:18 AM CT
Titans running back LenDale White has been assigned a May 1 court date for a citation he received last month in Denver, according to the Tennessean. White was cited for "interference, resistance, destruction of private property, refused order of officer and destruction of private property'' following the alleged incident on March 15 in downtown Denver. White's uncle, Herman White, who witnessed some of the alleged incident, recently said it "is nowhere near what is being portrayed.'' Denver police have not commented.
Faulk speaks about concert situationFriday 4/4, 9:12 AM CT
Kevin Faulk took full responsibility following his citation for marijuana possession at the Lil’ Wayne concert at the Cajundome, according to the Boston Herald. “I take full responsibility for what I had on me, for what happened,” Faulk said. “But at the same time, with regard to some of the things that were said, there were stories that I got arrested, that I got caught smoking. I know what happened. I don’t have to tell anyone that. When the media calls asking questions and looking for a comment, I was always taught actions speak louder than words. So I didn’t want to talk about it. I wanted to react to it. So I took a drug test, and that was it for me.” The 31-year-old Faulk passed the drug test, which was taken shortly after he was cited for simple possession.
Ocho Cinco comments on WR HenryFriday 4/4, 8:58 AM CT
Disgruntled star receiver Chad Johnson was stunned when told of Chris Henry's release by the Cincinnati Bengals, according to ESPN. "Are you sure? Man, they can't let him go. That dude is good. He's very, very good," Johnson said on 1050 ESPN New York. "We need him. Those are not easy shoes to fill, regardless of the trouble he has gotten into in the past." We’re not sure what is in the water supply that Johnson is drinking, but he's definitely in rare form this offseason.
Newman wants to get paidFriday 4/4, 8:48 AM CT
Terence Newman is entering the final year of his contract and wants to be paid like one of the top cornerbacks in the league, according to the Ft. Worth Star-Telegram. "I would like to stay here in Dallas, but I don’t need the money," Newman said. "I definitely want to be recognized as one of the top corners. I just want to be paid as one of the top corners.’’ Newman, who made the Pro Bowl for the first time last year, posted 62 tackles, 15 pass deflections and five interceptions. Newman has obviously been paying attention to the recent mega-deals doled out to some of the other top corners in the league. He is scheduled to make $865,647 in 2008.
NFL ’08 preseason schedule releasedFriday 4/4, 8:35 AM CT
The first 2008 preseason game will take place in Canton, Ohio on Aug. 3 (NBC, 8 p.m. ET), and features the Indianapolis Colts vs. Washington Redskins in the annual Pro Football Hall of Fame Game, according to NFL.com. It will be an eventful weekend for the Redskins, as two of the greatest players in their history –- cornerback Darrell Green and wide receiver Art Monk -– will join the class of 2008 at the Hall induction ceremonies. We’re not counting, but you only have 122 shopping days until the kickoff of the preseason games.
GM calls Favre return “inconceivable” Friday 4/4, 8:24 AM CT
General manager Ted Thompson is laughing off a published report that Brett Favre is considering a comeback with a team other than the Green Bay Packers, according to NFL.com. "We don't know anything about it, and it's inconceivable," Thompson said. The Los Angeles Times, citing anonymous sources, reported on its Web site Thursday that a representative of Favre has "quietly inquired" with other teams about their interest in trading for him. Either way, Favre's rights still belong to the Packers, and he would have to be traded or released if he wanted to play for another team. And for now, that doesn't appear to be the case.
DT Mace signs with BuffaloFriday 4/4, 8:13 AM CT
The Buffalo Bills have signed defensive tackle Corey Mace to an undisclosed contract, according to ESPN. Mace, who was a rookie last year, spent most of the 2007 on the practice squad. He was called up to the active roster late in the season, but didn’t play in any games.
Bills sign TE MassaquoiFriday 4/4, 8:08 AM CT
The Buffalo Bills have signed tight end Tim Massaquoi to an undisclosed contract, according to ESPN. Massaquoi is facing an uphill battle to make the final roster, as the Bills have stockpiled tight ends this offseason.
NFL delays release of scheduleFriday 4/4, 8:03 AM CT
The NFL was supposed to announce its entire regular-season schedule yesterday, but the date has been pushed back, according to the Wisconsin State Journal. NFL spokesman Greg Aiello said during the NFL meetings that he expected the full regular-season slate to be announced in the next two weeks.
Rosenfels dreams of being starterFriday 4/4, 7:57 AM CT
Sage Rosenfels is ready to assume the backup position again in Houston, but he will continue holding on to his dream of one-day being a starter, according to the Houston Chronicle. "I'd like to have a chance to be a starting quarterback in the NFL," Rosenfels said. "That's the lifelong dream I have. I'm 30. Who knows how much longer you're going to have? Hopefully, I have seven or eight more years, but that is the frustrating part of it.” Rosenfels appeared in nine games for the injured Matt Schaub last season, and won four of his five starts. While some fans would like the team to open up the starting job at quarterback, the Texans are not heading in that direction. General manager Rick Smith said during the NFL scouting combine, that Schaub is the Texans starting quarterback and the team feels fortunate to have such a strong backup in Rosenfels. Bottom line… the team is paying Schaub too much money to sit on the bench, but he will be under immense pressure in 2008 to step up his game and stay healthy.
Stovall recovering from surgeryFriday 4/4, 7:43 AM CT
Maurice Stovall is currently recovering from offseason surgery on his elbow, according to the Tampa Tribune. Stovall, who ended last season on injured reserve due to a broken right arm, posted 10 receptions for 86 yards and one score. No word on how much time he will miss while rehabbing the injury.
Henry called “one-man crime wave”Friday 4/4, 7:36 AM CT
Municipal Court Judge Bernie Bouchard set bond at $51,000 on charges of misdemeanor assault and criminal damaging against Chris Henry, while labeling him a one-man crime wave, according to ESPN. Noting Henry's previous arrests involving drugs, guns and alcohol, the judge ordered Henry to have an electronic monitoring device if he makes bail. The Bengals cut him yesterday after his fifth arrest since 2005.
