Ravens to use no-huddleSaturday 4/19, 7:02 PM CT
The Ravens will use the no-huddle as part of their offense this year even with the retirement of Steve McNair, this according to the Baltimore Sun. Kyle Boller and Troy Smith will continue to work with the new offensive scheme.

Our View: Neither one of the remaining QBs give us the warm and fuzzies, so it remains to be seen how they will take to the new offensive philosophy brought into mini-camp by new coach John Harbaugh.
Cowboys to bench Pro Bowl S?Saturday 4/19, 6:58 PM CT
Roy Williams could be benched on third downs this season despite his pro bowl status, this according to the Star Telegram.

Our View: The article postulates that with so many tough TE on the team's schedule this year that the team would be better off removing him from the secondary in passing situations. Williams has a lot to prove this season.
Teams lining up to offer trades for Ocho CincoSaturday 4/19, 1:42 PM CT
While the Bengals may not be seeking an opportunity to move their best offensive weapon, there are more than a few teams reportedly happy to make an attempt to change their minds, according to ESPN.com. John Clayton of ESPN has reported several teams are interested in trading for veteran WR Chad Johnson , including the Philadelphia Eagles, the Dallas Cowboys, and the Oakland Raiders.

Our View: Dallas owner Jerry Jones has commented on Johnson, stating the Cowboys are looking for a veteran wideout to lineup across from Terrell Owens and Johnson would certainly fit the bill.
Pats fail to sign Seward to offer sheetSaturday 4/19, 10:15 AM CT
Updating a story we reported earlier this month, the New England Patriots have not signed Carolina LB Adam Seward to an offer sheet, according to the Boston Globe.

Our View: The Patriots hosted a visit with Seward, signed to a minimal one-year tender by the Panthers, earlier this month and had to contemplate the cost of a 5th-round draft pick that would be passed to Carolina as compensation. Instead, the Patriots are moving forward and have let the deadline for signing Seward to an offer pass.
Losman still on the trade block?Saturday 4/19, 9:57 AM CT
While the Bills had voiced support for QB J.P. Losman earlier in the week and were apparently set to let Losman come into camp and compete with Trent Edwards for the starting job, reports now indicate the Bills continue to shop Losman in trade offers and are hoping to have a deal done on draft weekend, according to Pro Football Weekly.

Our View: PFW reports the team is asking for a 3rd- to 4th-round draft pick in exchange for the troubled passer. We will have to wait and see if the Bills get any takers, but considering the reasonable asking price and the growing list of teams in need of help at the position, it is hard to imagine the Bills would not receive at least a couple of intriguing offers.
Seattle looking to trade downSaturday 4/19, 9:19 AM CT
Seattle Seahawks' general manager Tim Ruskell has told reporters the team is looking for an opportunity to trade their first-round draft pick, the 25th-overall pick, with hopes of getting additional picks in later rounds, according to the Tacoma New Tribune.

Our View: Ruskell says the team has dedicated funds to their biggest area of need (running back) in free agency and thus have the luxury of flexibility in the upcoming draft.
Atogwe staying in St. LouSaturday 4/19, 8:49 AM CT
The Rams will be retaining talented safety Oshiomogho Atogwe , according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. The Rams placed their first-round tender offer on the powerful young safety and opened the floor for potential suitors to bring offer sheets to Atogwe with hopes of signing him away from St. Louis. The deadline for teams to make such offers has come and gone and no other team seemed willing to compensate the Rams with their 1st-round draft pick to sign Atogwe.

Our View: Now Atogwe is expected to sign the one-year tender offer that will pay him $2 million his season and will make him a free agent at the end of the coming season (assuming the Rams do not come to terms on a long-term agreement with Atogwe, a very real possibility as the team and Atogwe's agents are sure to meet in coming days to discuss those options).
Jets limit choices in draft to McFadden and GholstonSaturday 4/19, 8:41 AM CT
Reports out of New York state the New York Jets have limited their list of desires to be targeted with this year's 6th-overall pick in the upcoming NFL Draft to two players, those being Arkansas RB Darren McFadden and Ohio State DE Vernon Gholston, and should the pick arrive with both of those taken, they will attempt to trade out of the pick, according to ProFootballWeekly.com.

Our View: Jets GM Mike Tannenbaum and coach Eric Mangini seem to favor McFadden as the pick of choice, but the decision has reportedly been made to either draft one of those two players or move down. The Jets have spent big dollars in free agency this year and thus may want to be highly selective with that early (and expensive) draft pick.
Taylor seeking tradeSaturday 4/19, 8:32 AM CT
Reports indicate Miami Dolphins DE Jason Taylor has asked the team to trade him out of Miami, according to Yahoo Sports.

Our View: Jason Cole of Yahoo Sports reports Taylor has made an official request but has not threatened or demanded to be placated in any way, simply telling the team he does not feel he fits into the current plans of the team. Cole also suggests, while Taylor has not threatened to do so, that the veteran pass rusher might retire if his desires to be traded are not fulfilled.
Vikes pondering big trade for AllenSaturday 4/19, 8:27 AM CT
In one of the worst-kept secrets in the NFL today, the Minnesota Vikings and Kansas City Chiefs continue to discuss trade possibilities that center around DE Jared Allen , according to ProFootballTalk.com.

Our View: The deal would seem to include picks in the coming NFL Draft from the Vikings including a player or two all being given to the Chiefs in exchange for Allen, a deal what would include a new contract for the talented veteran pass rusher. ProFootballTalk.com has quoted several reports from the Minneapolis Star Tribune that suggest the Vikings would have to consider surrendering both theis 1st-round pick as well as their 3rd-round pick to get this deal done, while other reports suggest the Vikings are willing to offer this year's 1st-round pick and the team's 2009 2nd-round pick. Allen is a restricted free agent and could be signed to an offer sheet, but the Vikings would have to surrender TWO 1st-round picks if that avenue were used to get Allen in a Vikings uniform.
Shockey seeking trade?Saturday 4/19, 8:15 AM CT
Jeremy Shockey , the talented-but-aggravating Pro Bowl tight end for the New York Giants, has been involved in tumultuous dealings with his team since suffering a broken fibula in a game versus the Washington Redskins last season, and now reports have surfaced that the brash target may be seeking a trade, according to Newark Star-Ledger.

Our View: According to an unnamed source, Shockey approached Giants' coaching and management last season before the playoffs had begun and stated he wanted a changed role in the offense or a trade to another team, and that if neither demand was met, he would sit out this upcoming season. It appears Shockey is none too happy with the role he is given under coach Tom Coughlin, an offensive scheme that asks Shockey to work as a blocker much more often than as a receiver. The Star-Ledger also notes New Orleans coach Sean Payton, the former offensive coordinator for the Giants who tutored Shockey during his rookie season, has contacted the team about potential trade discussions. Shockey is a potent offensive weapon, and while his talents as a blocker are a necessary evil to do the job, it would make sense to give him the ball more often than Coughlin seems willing to offer. We will have to wait and see if Shockey holds true to his threat, but it appears this story could grow worse before it gets better.
