Lynch's car involved in accident Saturday 5/31, 11:57 PM CT
Police are investigating a hit-and-run accident involving a car registered to Bills' running back Marshawn Lynch, according to WGRZ-TV in Buffalo. The car struck a female pedestrian at around 3:30 a.m. on Saturday. The woman struck was on the ground for several minutes, but then was able to get up and walk to a nearby ambulance.

Our View: It remains unknown whether Lynch was driving the car, or whether he was inside it. More details should be revealed shortly.
Green has resumed OTA Saturday 5/31, 8:50 PM CT
Ahman Green has returned to practice Friday after missing the previous two days due to a case of food poisoning, according to the Houston Chronicle.

Our View: Other than the food poisoning, Green has been healthy so far during off-season practice sessions. He has a history of nagging knee problems, but is expected to be 100% at the start of training camp. If he remains healthy, he would likely serve as the Texans' starting running back, but a committee approach is expected, with former member of the Titans Chris Brown a potential candidate for the top backup role.
Flacco's contract talks progressing Saturday 5/31, 7:58 PM CT
Contract talks between Joe Flacco and the Ravens are reportedly moving forward, according to the Carroll County Times. The Ravens initially met with Flacco's agent Joe Linta on May 12 to begin discussing the structure of an anticipated five-year deal for the 18th overall selection. Linta said on Friday, "Good meeting, moving forward. Long way to go, but making progress."

Our View: Both sides are determined to reach an agreement soon so Flacco can report in time to training camp to compete with Kyle Boller and Troy Smith for the starting job.
Booker impressing Eagles Saturday 5/31, 5:14 PM CT
Lorenzo Booker is impressing the Eagles so far in practice, according to the Miami Herald. The team likes his speed, agility, and big-play potential, and offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg commented that the former member of the Dolphins has been even a little better than expected.

Our View: The Eagles' West Coast offense benefits smaller backs, evidenced by Brian Westbrook's production and success. He should be involved in the offense, potentially as a third-down back, and he could hold decent value this season, namely in PPR leagues (he made 28 receptions in limited action with Miami in 2007).
Carter continues to impress Saturday 5/31, 4:59 PM CT
Receiver Jason Carter continues to impress in practice, according to CarolinaGrowl.com. Fellow receiver Muhsin Muhammad said, "One guy that that has really been turning my head is Jason Carter. He comes out here and makes plays every day. He’s a guy that really hasn’t made a big splash in the NFL yet, but I think he’s a guy that can play."

Our View: The team continues to praise Carter, but the Panthers are loaded with talent at receiver, and he has a long battle ahead of him to make the roster. Steve Smith, Muhsin Muhammad, and DJ Hackett are locks to make the team, and Ryan Robinson is also likely to make it. That means Carter will be in a tough competition with Dwayne Jarrett and Travis Taylor for the final spot in the Panthers' receiving corps. Coach John Fox normally does not keep more than five receivers on the active roster.
Pacman decision comingSaturday 5/31, 1:39 PM CT
Despite reports indicating the NFL would put forth a decision by Thursday, May 29th, a day that has come and gone, the folks at NFL.com are now reporting troubled Dallas cornerback Pacman Jones could be reinstated as early as June 2nd or could, in fact, face new levels of discipline, according to ProFootballTalk.com.

Our View: PFT notes a report from NFL Network's Adam Schefter that states a decision could come "any day" and seems likely to be made during the week of June 2nd. The Cowboys appear to be optimistic, but PFT has put forth three scenarios they believe could lead to quick action. (1) If Pacman has pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor charge in Las Vegas and a felony charge pending in Florida, with the NFL suspension originally being laid in April of 2007, the league's Personal Conduct Policies would support fresh discipline due to the timing of these incidents. (2) If Jones is found to have been fraudulent when speaking with Commissioner Roger Goodell in 2007 upon discussing his legal troubles and the events that took place, Goodell could have standing to impose new discipline. (3) If Jones is found to have lied upon being asked by Goodell on May 20th if any potential legal issues were pending, not including the "make-it-rain-but-don't-take-that-money" incident and shooting in Vegas as well as several incidents that followed shortly after, then Goodell could have standing for a fresh round of discipline if the recent failure to pay $20,000 in gambling markers in Vegas is considered a legal incident. All three have Pacman suffering additional discipline, and that makes us wonder why the Cowboys would be so "optimistic." We will update as news becomes available.
Jags add Thorpe to WR battleSaturday 5/31, 11:41 AM CT
With a significant shot at competing for the AFC title this season, the Jacksonville Jaguars realize their most daunting concerns come from the wide receiver position. This morning they continue to add options to that group, signing former Colts target Craphonso Thorpe to a one-year deal, according to ESPN.com.

Our View: Thorpe will start on the Jags' fifth team, but he has spent his entire career in the AFC South. The 6-foot, 187-pound receiver was a fourth-round choice of the Kansas City Chiefs in 2005. His one-year deal is worth $370,000.
McFadden, Raiders looking to get deal doneSaturday 5/31, 10:13 AM CT
Reports out of California claim the Raiders and top pick Darren McFadden could have a contract agreement much sooner than later, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.

Our View: McFadden's agent, Ian Greengross, is scheduled to meet with team officials next week with the goal of reaching a deal before June is over. Last season, the top overall pick, JaMarcus Russell, was engaged in a prolonged holdout as contract negotiations went so poorly that Russell was not officially added to the roster until the season had commenced. This season, McFadden has been open and consistent in his asserted intentions to attend each and every day of training camp, and that would mean getting this deal done quickly. We will update as news becomes available.
Ocho adds perjury to growing list of concernsSaturday 5/31, 10:02 AM CT
In the growing drama that is Cincinnati wide receiver Chad Johnson , a Cincinnati lawyer has accused Johnson of committing perjury, according to AOL Sports.

Our View: Lawyer Eric Deters was on local sports radio station 1530AM and has accused Johnson of failing to deliver on a promise to give away a Lexus automobile during an outing at a local comedy club. Deters represents a group of alleged victims suing the receiver that will go to trial on June 30th, claiming Johnson had promised to award a free Lexus at the club and never did so. Now Deters is also claiming Johnson stated, while under oath, that he knew nothing of a promise of a Lexus giveaway, and then immediately stated that he knew there were patrons at the club specifically to win the Lexus. This comes on the heels of reports that (a) Johnson owes thousands of dollars in back taxes, (b) is pushing for a trade out of Cincinnati and is likely to holdout of team practices, and (c) that Johnson's life is nothing short of a total mess. We will update with news as it becomes available.
Ravens not interested in TaylorSaturday 5/31, 9:14 AM CT
More reports continue to hit the NFL wire today concerning the lack of interest in trading for veteran defensive end Jason Taylor , including today's report that the Baltimore Ravens have no interest in adding the pass rusher, according to South Florida Sun-Sentinel.

Our View: ESPN reported the Dolphins were actively shopping their top pass rusher during the NFL Draft, seeking no less than a 2nd-round pick in exchange for Taylor. No teams took the bait, and recent reports on Baltimore sports radio shows indicated the Dolphins were engaged in conversations with the Ravens about a potential swap. Baltimore coach John Harbaugh claims he is not aware of any such talks and that he, as the team's coach, would harbor concerns about Taylor's age, salary, and somewhat troubling relationship with former Dolphins coach Cam Cameron, now working in Baltimore as the Offensive Coordinator.
Harris surprises by showing at minicampSaturday 5/31, 8:33 AM CT
As rumors continue to swirl around the condition and status of his knees, Chicago tackle Tommie Harris is in attendance at this week's minicamp but is not taking part in any team drills, according to the Chicago Sun Times.

Our View: In fact, sources inside the team suggest they are surprised Harris showed up at all and the team has expected Harris, who has already avoid voluntary team activities this year, to be a concern moving forward. Coach Lovie Smith has asserted his desire to bring Harris back into the mix slowly after struggling through 16 starts last season on bad knees, and while worries centered around reports of a potential degenerative prognosis for those knees, it appears Harris is making an attempt to get back in the mix as quickly as possible and may simply be saving his body for games that matter.
Pats, Titans looking at JonesSaturday 5/31, 8:26 AM CT
It appears free-agent rusher Kevin Jones , recently let go by Detroit, is receiving interest from several teams, according to Pro Football Weekly.

Our View: PFW reports the Patriots and the Titans have both contacted Jones' agent to discuss their interest. These updates come off the heels of a report from Dr. D.S. Ping claiming Jones, just five months removed from knee surgery, is in rare form as rehabilitation efforts are advancing at a quick pace. Few anticipated he would be ready for the start of the coming season, but it now seems reasonable to at least discuss that event taking place and where he might be doing so.
Bradley struggling to progress from surgerySaturday 5/31, 8:21 AM CT
Worries continue to center around the offense in Chicago as reports that receiver Mark Bradley continues to struggle for health, according to Pro Football Weekly.

Our View: Bradley underwent arthroscopic surgery on his right knee to clean scar tissue in early May, and while he tells the press that he anticipates being ready for the start of training camp, sources with the team suggest those assertions may be incorrect. The Bears have two quarterbacks that have done little-to-nothing to assure fans that the offense will be lead with competence this season, and now the already-lackluster list of targets is hampered with injury concerns. Keep this in mind as you ponder all offensive options from Chicago this season.
Smith attending minicampSaturday 5/31, 8:18 AM CT
While he skipped the team's voluntary workouts in recent weeks, the Saints report defensive end Will Smith will in fact attend the team's mandatory minicamp this weekend, according to Pro Football Weekly.

Our View: Smith is attempting to renegotiate his contract with the Saints, set to earn a touch of $1 million this season. However, Smith indicates he has every intention of taking part in team practices while his agent and team management work things out.
Jets could put audio in hands of safetySaturday 5/31, 8:13 AM CT
Reports out of New York indicate coach Eric Mangini is considering an intriguing move by putting the team's new defensive audio headset in the helmet of safety Kerry Rhodes , according to Pro Football Weekly.

Our View: Most teams would prefer to put this control in the hands of a man near the front line to make adjustments on the fly, but Rhodes is one of few veterans capable of manning the duties and has a proven nose for the football. Mangini is also reportedly considering inside linebacker David Harris for the job.
Raiders work on McFadden's carriesSaturday 5/31, 8:08 AM CT
Reports indicate the Raiders are instructing their defensive players to put full focus on the football and attempts to knock it loose as they test rookie rusher Darren McFadden , according to Pro Football Weekly.

Our View: The team is concerned with is struggles to lock his elbows down in an effort to avoid fumbles. McFadden wasn't a known for coughing up the football in college, but rare was the opportunity for a defender to find position to create a turnover when he had the ball. In the NFL, McFadden will see those plays with regularity and thus the team is improving his technique.
