NEWSBREAKERS NFL
Dansby still no closer to extensionFriday 6/20, 5:02 PM CT
Karlos Dansby's agent and Cardinals GM ROd Graves have not spoken in a couple weeks as the team and the player attempt to work out a long-term deal, according to the Arizona Republic.

Our View: Dansby was signed to a 1-year tender as the team's franchise player ($8.025 million), but negotiations on an extension beyond this season have gone nowhere.
Returner Jones signs with ChargersFriday 6/20, 4:57 PM CT
Mark Jones singed a 1-year contract to join the Chargers, according to the Associated Press. “Mark’s versatility was very attractive to us,” San Diego GM A.J. Smith said. “He’s an experienced NFL punt returner and a solid player who will raise the level of competition in our camp.”

Our View: Pretty much a non-starter expect in those few leagues that count return yardage, and even those gamers should be wary of adding a guy who is coming off a torn patellar tendon.
Pacman to have home foreclosedFriday 6/20, 4:51 PM CT
The hits just keep coming for Pacman Jones when it was learned that his home in Tennessee is now being foreclosed upon, this according to ESPN. The home, purchased for $1.5 million dollars and sitting on 30 acres, will be auctioned on the courthouse steps on June 27th.

Our View: If you're looking to get a deal on some property, maybe you should take a flight to Tennessee as we are sure it is a beautiful property.
Lynch to plead guilty to hit and runFriday 6/20, 4:36 PM CT
Updating a previous report, it now appears that Marshawn Lynch will in fact plead guilty to a hit and run charge as the driver of the vehicle that struck a woman and fled the scene on May 31st, this according to the Buffalo News. The plea deal likely will not include any jail time.

Our View: Lynch could still face a league mandated suspension, especially if the NFL is sincere about it's desire to clean up an exceedingly disgusting propensity for its players to be involved in illegal activities. Then again, he might escape without punishment since he has never been arrested before. He likely won't be as lucky if a civil case is filed as it most certainly will be.
Lynch update Friday 6/20, 2:28 PM CT
Erie County D.A. Frank Clark has announced that he has reached an agreement in principle to end the Marshawn Lynch fiasco, according to WBEN-930 radio. Clark stated that the agreement is based on a concession that Lynch was "behind the wheel" when his SUV hit a woman on May 31. Clark didn’t say that Lynch was driving, though.

Our View: Lynch is expected back in town next week to answer to the charges.
Ealy working as number three WR Friday 6/20, 1:50 PM CT
Biren Ealy is working as the Titans' number three receiver out of the slot, according to the Tennessean. Ealy has been one of the biggest stars of the off-season for the club, and he is displaying a relentless work ethic and consistently making plays in practice. Coach Jeff Fisher said, "He carries himself as if he’s been in the league for a number of years. He didn’t have wide-eyes when he walked out the first day of practice and he is confident and working to improve on any weakness. He has been very consistent."

Our View: Justin Gage and Justin McCareins are working as the starters right now, and Ealy has really taken advantage of the added reps while Roydell Williams is recovering from his ankle ailment. Ealy is off to a strong start and will be on our radar through training camp.
Taylor isn't bound for Green Bay? Friday 6/20, 12:28 PM CT
John Clayton of ESPN believes a deal to send Jason Taylor to Green Bay is unlikely. Talks between the Dolphins and Packers haven't developed to the point it could be considered a real possibility. Packers' GM Ted Thompson doesn't like to deal draft choices, and the cost of a second-rounder would go against his beliefs. The Packers are also pleased with what they already have at defensive end, as Kabeer Gbaja-Biamila is optimistic he will be ready for training camp despite a knee issue.

Our View: The Dolphins' asking price is still very high, and it will be difficult to move Taylor prior to training camp.
Redskins ink six-rounder Moore Friday 6/20, 12:21 PM CT
The Redskins have inked sixth-round pick Kareem Moore (Nicholls State), according to the Washington Post. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Our View: Moore has good size at 6-2 203 pounds, but must work on his technique before he can challenge for a spot in the Redskins' secondary. He is also recovering from knee surgery.
Buccaneers ink fourth-rounder MooreFriday 6/20, 10:47 AM CT
The Buccaneers have inked fourth-round pick Dre Moore (Maryland) to a deal, according to the Pewter Report. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Our View: Defensive tackle Moore is very athletic for his size (6-4 311 pounds), but needs to play with better leverage before he can compete for a solid role with the club.
Leinart needs to improve footwork Friday 6/20, 10:39 AM CT
Coach Ken Whisenhunt has noted that Matt Leinart needs to improve his footwork, according to USA Today. Whisenhunt said, "What he was doing last year was crossing over his first step and not getting away from the center, and that creates situations on a five-step drop where he is not nine yards deep, or he is not far enough behind the line of scrimmage. He wasn't getting far enough from the line of scrimmage, which makes it difficult protection-wise, makes it difficult for timing of routes."

Our View: Leinart is the starter heading into training camp, and Leinart noted that it is time to prove himself. Whisenhunt has him pointed in the right direction, and has no doubt that Leinart wants to be among the best quarterbacks in the league.
Lynch deal could be close? Friday 6/20, 10:06 AM CT
Some type of deal could soon be reached in the hit-and-run case involving Marshawn Lynch's SUV, according to ProFootballTalk.com. Bills' attorney Paul Cambria said, "I was planning to go to the grand jury with three team officials, and I was notified that their appearances were postponed. To me, that is an indication that Marshawn Lynch, his attorney and the district attorney are moving toward a resolution in this case."

Our View: Lynch has not spoken publicly and has not told the police whether or not he was driving his SUV when it struck a woman. Three of Lynch’s teammates were previously scheduled to testify before the grand jury, but their appearances were postponed.
Long would like to play again in NFL Friday 6/20, 9:30 AM CT
Former member of the Titans Rien Long has stated that he would like another chance to play in the NFL, according to the Tennessean. He racked up nine sacks over two full seasons with Tennessee, and is hoping to arrange a tryout with Jeff Fisher in the coming months.

Our View: Long has a long list of injuries including a concussion, punctured lung, eight broken ribs, filleted pelvis, severed urethra, and fractured C-6 vertebra, and almost died twice, most recently in a serious car accident in January.
Johnson expects to return in mid-JulyFriday 6/20, 8:50 AM CT
Contacted by Bengals.com the day after he had arthroscopic surgery to remove "loose bodies" in his right ankle, receiver Chad Johnson said he plans to be ready to run the second week of July. And expects to join fellow receivers T.J. Houshmandzadeh, Antonio Chatman, Jerome Simpson and Andre Caldwell at a Los Angeles passing camp run by Charles Collins in which Carson Palmer is slated to be one of the throwers.

Our View: Johnson seems to be categorizing his priorities these days, moving from the textbook trade-me-or-retire-rant to getting back to the business of football.
