Peko deal best of the offseasonSaturday 6/28, 11:53 PM CT
Signing defensive tackle Domata Peko to a five-year contract extension through 2014 might be the best move the Bengals made during the offseason. The run stuffer does a great job providing all important pressure up the middle on passing downs, especially for a team that offers little from their rush ends.

Our View: With Peko, Robert Geathers and Antwan Odom signed to long-term deals, the Bengals defensive line is solid even if they don't put up big sack numbers.
Four NFL teams watch JonesSaturday 6/28, 8:39 PM CT
According to the AP, Kevin Jones went through a workout Saturday while four NFL teams scouted. Jones ran sprints and cut for the organizations just five months after having major knee surgery.

Our View: The Lions cut their former first-round pick in March with one year left on his contract, but all indications have the tailback healthy and potentially ready to be a part of some organizations training camp in late July.
Jones-Drew to see more touchesSaturday 6/28, 8:25 PM CT
Maurice Jones-Drew is expected to see more touches this year, and according to Rototimes sources he should be the starter with Fred Taylor seeing touches in relief of the younger and more powerful tailback.

Our View: Jones-Drew has the speed to run off the edge and the power to pound yards between the tackles. The small in stature, huge in heart tailback, is hard to see behind his big offensive linemen. He only needs the majority of the Jags touches at running back to be a No. 1 fantasy option.
Cowboys not interested in "washed up" HornSaturday 6/28, 2:49 PM CT
Updating an earlier report, the Cowboys are denying any consideration or plans to acquire veteran receiver Joe Horn , according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

Our View: A source with the team responding to a call from the paper referred to Horn as a "washed up" player. A denial is no surprise with rumors of the team once again seeking a deal with Terry Glenn (one that would be much more appealing towards the salary cap). Some rumors are short lived and it appears this one has no legs, though if talks with Glenn fail to bring a deal, they could find new life.
Marshall gets medical clearance to practiceSaturday 6/28, 9:49 AM CT
Denver wideout Brandon Marshall has been granted full clearance to take part in all team activities for the week ahead and sources indicate he is already working with quarterback Jay Cutler on routes and timing, according to the Rocky Mountain News.

Our View: Marshall's offseason has been a disaster, but getting the worries of his injured hand out of the way will mean much to creating a positive momentum moving towards training camp. His recent arrest for the alleged assault against his girlfriend looms, but it appears his work on the field is getting underway. Marshall was reportedly catching passes one-handed with his surgically repaired arm and caught any variety of passes. The nerve damage doesn't appear to be lasting.
Glenn talking nice with DallasSaturday 6/28, 9:21 AM CT
While reports and rumors swirl that the Cowboys are taking a strong look at veteran receiver Joe Horn, the beat reporters in town believe Terry Glenn may be back in the fold and close to a new deal, according to the Dallas Morning News.

Our View: Glenn is speaking with Dallas Cowboys officials again in hopes of returning. Glenn, who wasn't allowed to practice with the team because he wouldn't sign an injury waiver, asked the team to release him. But he has changed his mind, saying he doesn't want to get into a confrontation with owner Jerry Jones. We will see how Jones handles this one, but we know the question to answer is cost. Glenn may talk nice, but the bottom line is money. If he brings his asking price down to the league minimum Jones desires, this could get done.
Walker assailant held on bailSaturday 6/28, 8:12 AM CT
Arfat Fadel, the man arrested and charged with kidnapping, beating, and robbing Oakland receiver Javon Walker , was held on Friday and bail was set at $86,000, according to the Associated Press. Public defender Shane Emerick has told reporters his client is likely to remain in jail.Justice of the Peace Tony Abbatangelo set bail at $73,000 and scheduled a preliminary hearing for July 16 on four felony charges: first-degree kidnapping, conspiracy to commit robbery, robbery, and battery causing substantial bodily harm. A kidnapping conviction carries a sentence of life in prison with the possibility of parole.

Our View: It carries little-to-no influence on Walker's fantasy value, though it continues to keep the drama surrounding this embattled target in the headlines. The Raiders are counting on getting huge yardage contributions from Walker to make the offense work this season. If this continues to affect his mentality towards his life on the football field, then it becomes rather difficult to suggest the wideout is worthy of wager.
Sources believe Shockey remains on the blockSaturday 6/28, 8:03 AM CT
It appears there are movers and shakers in the NFL that believe the current picture being presented by the Giants, stating tight end Jeremy Shockey is no longer involved in trade talks, fails to match reality, according to NFL.com.

Our View: In a report filed by Thomas George, unnamed NFL sources with other teams note there are more than a few franchises tracking the situation as beliefs that Shockey's approach to the game no longer fits into the team-first emotion long preached by coach Tom Coughlin but now carrying weight with players after a Super Bowl victory. One source notes there are teams that will continue to make offers and that a deal during training camp still seems like a plausible scenario.
Lynch get slap on the wrist for hit-and-runSaturday 6/28, 7:55 AM CT
Buffalo rusher Marshawn Lynch had his driver's license revoked in traffic court on Friday after saying he didn't know he had struck a pedestrian on a Buffalo street last week, according to the Associated Press.

Our View: Administrative Law Judge Thomas Gagola found Lynch's behavior on May 31 "constituted a reckless disregard of human life or property." He also imposed the maximum $100 fine and $50 surcharge after Lynch pleaded guilty to failure to exercise due care toward a pedestrian. While Roger Goodell may intervene and hand down a suspension, it would seem the severity of the incident (or lack thereof) would result in a minimal punishment (possibly a fine rather than a suspension). If Lynch can get right and stay on the straight in narrow, there is little reason to hamper his fantasy value at this time. Just keep an eye on him moving forward.
