Berrian building momentumMonday 10/6, 11:55 PM CT
Bernard Berrian caught six passes for 110 yards and a late score as the Vikings go to option in the passing game with Sidney Rice on the sidelines because of his knee injury on Monday against the Saints.

Our View: Berrian certainly had a poor start to the year but since the club went to Gus Frerotte behind center three games ago Berrian has gone over 75-yards each game though tonight marks the first time that he found the end zone.
Henderson scores, goes for triple digitsMonday 10/6, 11:52 PM CT
Devery Henderson caught four passes for 104 yards including a 17 yard touchdown in the first quarter on Monday night.

Our View: Henderson entered the game with only six receptions and 213 yards all season so tonight's effort came as a bit of a surprise. Still, with all the health concerns of receivers on the Saints squad, it was nice to see him step up and give the type of performance that certainly resides in his talented body.
Bush ties TD recordMonday 10/6, 11:48 PM CT
Reggie Bush tied an NFL record, set 11 times previously, with two punt returns for touchdowns - one covering 71 yards, the other 64 yards - in the Saints 30-27 loss to the Vikings. Bush also carried the ball 12 times for just 29 yards while losing a fumble though he did haul in seven passes for 64 yards though he also lost a fumble in the passing game as well.

Our View: Typical Bush. The guy was all over the field doing pretty much everything other than kicking field goals. One of the fumbles came after a face mask that wasn't called but he still rushed for a paltry 29 yards. None of that matters if you are in a PPR league as he continues to rack up receptions as if he was Marques Colston. The guy may have his faults, but he can be breathtaking to watch in full flight.
Peterson stymied by SaintsMonday 10/6, 11:42 PM CT
Adrian Peterson carried the ball 21 times for an anemic total of 32 rushing yards in the Vikings Monday night victory over the Saints.

Our View: AP will eventually bust loose and make someone pay for being held down, but the guy is maddeningly inconsistent from week to week. In 19 career outings this was the fifth time he was held to 45 or fewer yards and he has now gone three straight outings without an 85-yard effort.
McAllister bottled upMonday 10/6, 11:38 PM CT
Deuce McAllister rushed a paltry six times on Monday night for an equally poor total of just 13 yards for the Saints.

Our View: So much for a follow up effort after last week's 20 carry, 73 yard effort against the 49ers. With Reggie Bush dominating the ball with 19 touches Deuce was left with little to do on this night.
Frerotte solid in victoryMonday 10/6, 11:34 PM CT
Gus Frerotte threw a touchdown and no interceptions while completing 19 of 36 passes for 222 yards in the Vikings victory over the Saints.

Our View: Frerotte was mighty successful given that the Vikings vaunted ground attack totaled just 44 net yards rushing on the night. He continues to do a much better job leading the offense than Tarvaris Jackson ever has.
Brees throws for 330 yardsMonday 10/6, 11:32 PM CT
Drew Brees completed 26 of 46 passes for 330 yards and a touchdown though he was also saddled with two interceptions (one went right through the hands of Lance Moore).

Our View: That's 1,673 yards and counting for Brees who is on pace to rack up a sick total of 5,354 yards which would demolish the single season record of 5,084 yards set by Dan Marino back in 1984. Just imagine what he'll do once his top target, Marques Colston, returns.
Longwell hits late winnerMonday 10/6, 11:28 PM CT
Ryan Longwell kicked the game winning field goal of 30 yards with :13 seconds left as the Vikings came back to defeat the Saints 30-27.

Our View: Longwell was perfect on the night hitting all three of his field goals (53, 33, 30) as well as all three of his extra points.
Gonzalez eyeing a return Monday 10/6, 11:07 PM CT
Anthony Gonzalez suffered a minor concussion in Week 5 but the club believes he could be able to play in Week 6, according to NFL.com.

Our View: With Marvin Harrison struggling to get open and with his communication with Peyton Manning far less effective than it has been in the past, the club really needs a healthy Gonzalez to keep the passing attack potent.
Vanden Bosch has groin injuryMonday 10/6, 11:04 PM CT
Kyle Vanden Bosch suffered a groin injury on Sunday though the severity of the setback has not been made public, according to John Clayton of ESPN.

Our View: The good news is that the Titans are on their bye week so Vanden Bosch has two weeks to rest up before the club faces the Chiefs.
Westbrook remains optimisticMonday 10/6, 11:02 PM CT
Brian Westbrook is optimistic that he will be able to overcome ankle and rib injuries to play in Week 6, according to the Eagles Official Website. "I'm an optimistic person. I'm a guy that thinks that every injury can be overcome," Westbrook said.

Our View: We wish we could be as optimistic but two broken ribs cast a serious cloud over his potential involvement this weekend. He is right about the positive attitude, hopefully he can send some of that energy to his injured body parts.
Abdullah signs with BrownsMonday 10/6, 9:40 PM CT
Free agent safety Hamza Abdullah agreed in principal to join the Cleveland Browns, according to The Denver Post.

Our View: Abdullah started eight games last year and appeared in line this season to start with the Broncos before he injured his groin which contributed to his being released roughly two weeks ago. Abdullah's signing will help the Browns to add some depth at safety with Sean Jones out of action.
Freeney to play through injuryMonday 10/6, 9:29 PM CT
Dwight Freeney (leg) was banged up in Week 5 but the team believes he will be able to play through it, according to NFL.com. "He strained something in his leg on the first fumble, but he went back in for about five or six plays," HC Tony Dungy said.

Our View: Freeney has had a rough time staying healthy of late, but as you just read his most recent setback isn't one that figures to keep him off the field.
LT will play through injuryMonday 10/6, 7:50 PM CT
LaDainian Tomlinson will continue to play through his toe injury no matter how much it detracts from what he wants to do on the field, according to the Rocky Mountain News. "This is a critical time for our football team," he said. "It's not a one-week injury. You can't get better in one week. There's no such thing. Nobody can. If you're injured you're injured."

Our View: LT is averaging a career low 66.2 yards a contest and is on a pace that would net him 13 touchdowns, a total that would be his worst mark since he scored 10 times during his rookie season in 2001. He will remain a weekly start, but the results may not be vintage LT any time soon.
Warner pondering futureMonday 10/6, 7:21 PM CT
Kurt Warner says he will seriously consider hanging up his cleats at the end of the 2008 season after witnessing the devastating hit to teammate Anquan Boldin, according to the Associated Press. Warner sent a text message to his wife immediately after the hit on Boldin last week in which he apparently expressed his desire to consider the quality of life he will have with his family when he is done playing football.

Our View: The surprise isn't that these thoughts went through Warner's mind, the surprise is that they became public knowledge. The 37 year old QB can still bring it on game day, though you can't down a guy for wanting to be there for his family after taking a beating during his career. He will remain the starter, and a good one at that, for now.
Saints Inactives for Week 5Monday 10/6, 6:54 PM CT
The following players are inactive for the Saints in their Monday Night Matchup with the Vikings, according to Saints Official Website. The players are as follows: FB Olaniyi Sobomehin, DT Sedrick Ellis, CB Aaron Glenn, WR Marques Colston, WR David Patten, T Jermon Bushrod, TE Jeremy Shockey and S Chris Reis.

Our View: With Colston, Patten and Shockey on the sidelines, Drew Brees will be forced to rely heavily on the likes of Devery Henderson and Lance Moore to help stretch the Vikings defense.
Vikings Inactives for Week 5Monday 10/6, 6:50 PM CT
The following players are inactive for the Vikings in their Monday Night Matchup with the Saints, according to Saints Official Website. The players are as follows: DT Letroy Guion, FB Thomas Tapeh, S Madieu Williams, WR Sidney Rice, T Marcus Johnson, T Drew Radovich, John David Booty (3rd QB) and CB Benny Sapp.

Our View: Rice was thought to be active this week despite dealing with the PCL injury in his knee, but apparently he just isn't healthy enough to give it a go on this night. Bernard Berrian will have to step up his play with the absence of Rice.
Edwards to sit out practiceMonday 10/6, 6:37 PM CT
Trent Edwards (concussion) is unlikely to appear in practice this week for the Bills which obviously stamps his availability for the Bills next game in Week 7 in some doubt, according to the Associated Press. "We follow a routine for any of our players that suffer a concussion, so that's what we'll do with Trent," HC Dick Jauron said.

Our View: Obviously with the bye week Edwards will have two weeks to get ready for the Bills next game, and he might need that entire time to get back to the point where he is physically capable of performing without concern for his health.
Benson to see more touchesMonday 10/6, 6:21 PM CT
Cedric Benson will see his workload increased per the game plan of HC Marvin Lewis, according to The Cincinnati Enquirer.

Our View: With Chris Perry turning into a fumbling machine (five in five games, three were lost), the club certainly doesn't have much to lose by turning to Benson. However, it remains to be seen just what the guy has in the tank at this point, so take a cautious approach.
Croyle to start next gameMonday 10/6, 6:13 PM CT
Brodie Croyle (shoulder) will start under center for the Chiefs in Week 7, according to the Kansas City Star. "If I’m healthy, I’m going to go," Croyle said today. "I just have to make sure that over the next two weeks that everything keep going the way it’s supposed to be and we don’t have any setbacks."

Our View: Croyle likely gives the team its best chance to win, though that isn't saying much given the often terrible work the club has gotten from Damon Huard and Tyler Thigpen.
Gregg done for 2008Monday 10/6, 6:05 PM CT
Kelly Gregg will undergo micro-fracture surgery on his injured knee on Tuesday and will miss the rest of the season, according to the National Football Post.

Our View: Gregg is second on the Ravens all-time tackle list with 618 but his career has been derailed because of injury as he was never able to make it onto the field this season after previously having surgery on his knee during the offseason.
Branch injury not seriousMonday 10/6, 5:57 PM CT
Deion Branch's heel injury may or may not allow him to play in Week 6, according to The Seattle Times. While Branch likely wouldn't further injury himself by playing, the injury is extremely painful to play on.

Our View: Branch relies on being able to cut quickly to juke defenders, and if his foot precludes him from doing just that he is highly unlikely to be successful. Monitor his progress this week, but it doesn't sound like you should be counting on him.
QB should practiceMonday 10/6, 5:53 PM CT
Matt Hasselbeck's injured right knee received a positive review after an MRI was clean, according to The Seattle Times. He is expected to practice this week.

Our View: It's been a rough start for Hasselbeck and most of the Seahawks offense early in the year, but at least Matt escaped serious injury. He is obviously expected to play in Week 6 against the Packers.
Henderson placed on IRMonday 10/6, 5:49 PM CT
E.J. Henderson has been placed on the season ending injured reserve list due to two dislocated toes, according to the Kansas City Star. Henderson's roster spot will likely be taken by LT Bryant McKinnie.

Our View: Henderson had missed only three games in his six year career, and coming off a season of 119 tackles this is a huge loss to the Vikes linebacking corps as well as those IDP owners who had counted on E.J. in '08.
Tucker nearing returnMonday 10/6, 5:44 PM CT
Ryan Tucker remains hopeful that he will be able to return from offseason hip surgery in Week 6, according to the Browns Official Website. "Every week it's feeling more natural, more normal. I'm real close right now."

Our View: If the Browns have any hope of salvaging their season they have to start immediately, and a healthy Tucker would certainly improve their chances.
Stallworth expected to playMonday 10/6, 5:40 PM CT
Donte Stallworth (hamstring) is expected to return to action this weekend, according to the Browns Official Website. We should be closer to having our full complement of guys," HC Romeo Crennel said. "Willie (McGinest) and Donte' (Stallworth) were able to practice last week. Having those guys back should help us and we'll see where it takes us."

Our View: Stallworth's next catch will be his first, so now that he is healthy perhaps he can do something to help the team's struggling offense to resemble the unit that did so much damage last season.
Burress back with matesMonday 10/6, 5:36 PM CT
Plaxico Burress is back with his teammates after being suspended for one game but it doesn't appear that he has turned over a new leaf, according to Slam Sports. We'll let him speak for himself. "I'm not going to lose any sleep over it. I got me some rest and was able to get away for a while and chill out and relax. Things like that happen...Some of the demands they ask me to do, I just don't meet. Maybe I have a problem with time or something, I don't know."

Our View: Wow, sounds like a great teammate. Let's see he admitted to violating rules and not really caring one flip about it. And he also said that he didn't lose any sleep over letting his teammates down. Where can we find a job like that?
O'Sullivan has supportMonday 10/6, 5:29 PM CT
J.T. O'Sullivan may have thrown five interceptions in the past two games but he still has the faith of the organization, according to The Press Democrat. "I believe J.T. gives us our best chance to win," HC Mike Nolan said.

Our View: There are some growing whispers in the local media that O'Sullivan could be on a short leash, but we have a hard time believing he will be benched in favor of Shaun Hill any time soon, so just remain patient with J.T.
Davis still in search of productionMonday 10/6, 5:22 PM CT
Vernon Davis has done a fine job blocking opponents this season, though he has only five receptions through five games, according to The Press Democrat. "He's done an outstanding job blocking, both pass and run," HC Mike Nolan said. "The objective is to get the ball in his hand. He has a responsibility to himself to run the correct routes. By no stretch would I say he's a bust."

Our View: Davis may not be a real life bust, but he is the fantasy football version of Britney Spears career, and that our friends is a complete and utter bust. He certainly can't get any worse, but we've also seen nothing to recommend even rostering him at this point.
Simms back with TitansMonday 10/6, 5:17 PM CT
Just two days after he was released to make room on the roster for punter Josh Miller, Chris Simms has been re-signed by the Titans, according to The Tennessean. "Chris totally understood the move (on Saturday), and we assured him we'd get him back under contract and we did,'' Coach Jeff Fisher said.

Our View: Simms will once again take up his clipboard as the Titans' third option behind Kerry Collins and Vince Young.
Ryan looking goodMonday 10/6, 5:15 PM CT
Matt Ryan led the Falcons to just their second road win in 13 tries over the weekend as he was poised and gave the club enough in the passing game (194 yards, two scores) to keep the defense honest for the powerful rushing attack to take control, according to Pro Football Weekly.

Our View: Ryan hasn't done much in terms of production (54.2 completion percentage, four scores, three interceptions), but he is showing the poise the team expects will one day result in some strong work under center.
Maroney playing well?Monday 10/6, 5:10 PM CT
Even though Laurence Maroney appeared in just 17 plays on Sunday HC Bill Belichick is apparently satisfied with what Maroney has been providing, according to the Boston Globe. “Yeah, I think Laurence has done a good job for us," he said. "I think he’s a good back. He’s played well and I think he’ll continue to play well.”

Our View: Perhaps we are looking at two different players because what we see is a back who has been limited to just 28 carries and 93 yards this season despite the fact that he has dealt with a few injuries. At this point he is nothing more than a flex option, and apparently a poor one at that.
Jordan a fast healerMonday 10/6, 5:07 PM CT
LaMont Jordan right leg injury that kept him out of the second half matchup with the Niners, is apparently healing quickly, according to the Boston Globe. HC Bill Belichick said that Jordan “looks like a pretty quick healer...we’ll have to see how he is later in the week.”

Our View: Jordan is part of Denver east as the club continues to rotate backs in a frustrating manner. The good news is that the injury obviously doesn't appear to be very serious.
Mason is just fineMonday 10/6, 5:00 PM CT
As expected, HC John Harbaugh reiterated on Monday that the injury to the thumb of Derrick Mason was indeed minor, according to the Baltimore Sun. "Derrick Mason should be fine," Harbaugh said. "He's going through some bumps and bruises. He's going to spend a little time in treatment this week."

Our View: Mason has 21 receptions in his four games this season and continues to be a solid WR3 option in PPR leagues despite the struggles of Joe Flacco.
Rodgers out until at least ThursdayMonday 10/6, 4:57 PM CT
Aaron Rodgers (shoulder) performed admirably in Week 5 but due to the injury he will not practice this week until at least Thursday, according to The Sports Network. "I'm not going to practice him Wednesday, and we're going to stay in the rehab," HC Mike McCarthy said. "Then we're looking at potentially limited Thursday was the conversation we had with the doctors, and we'll take it from there."

Our View: Rodgers was seen wincing in pain for most of the outing on Sunday but he still gutted it out for 313 yards and three scores. At this point we still expect him to play in the Packers next contest but it is clear that any hit on game day could force him to the sidelines.
Nelson unlikely for Week 6 Monday 10/6, 3:53 PM CT
Reggie Nelson is unlikely to return to the gridiron in Week 6 at Denver as he is still hindered by his bruised knee, according to the Jaguars' official website. Coach Jack Del Rio said, "With Reggie, it’s wait and see. If it doesn’t show significant progress, he could miss again this week."

Our View: This is unfortunate news for the Jaguars' secondary, but favorable news for Jay Cutler and the Broncos' aerial attack.
Clowney unlikely for Week 6Monday 10/6, 3:31 PM CT
David Clowney is making favorable progress in his recovery from a broken collarbone, but is still wearing a red no-contact jersey in practice, and is not likely to be ready for Sunday's battle against Cincinnati, according to the NY Daily News.

Our View: It is encouraging that he is practicing on a limited basis, but is not yet to get hit and contribute. When he does return, he could push Brad Miller for playing time.
Nugent not expected for Week 6 Monday 10/6, 3:26 PM CT
Mike Nugent is not expected to be ready to play in Week 6 as he is still hindered by his thigh injury, according to the NY Daily News.

Our View: The Jets are coming off a bye, but Nugent needs more time to recover. Jay Feely looks to remain the Jets' kicker for at least one more week.
Watson will be re-signed by BengalsMonday 10/6, 3:22 PM CT
Coach Marvin Lewis indicated that Kenny Watson will be re-signed by the Bengals Monday, according to the official team website. His contract was previously terminated to make room for receiver Chris Henry on the roster.

Our View: Watson would compete with Cedric Benson for the primary backup job behind starter Chris Perry, which could hold some fantasy significance since Perry could be falling out of favor with five fumbles, and is only averaging 2.8 yards per carry.
Chatman activated Monday 10/6, 2:43 PM CT
Jesse Chatman has been activated by the Jets after serving a four-game suspension, according to the Star-Ledger.

Our View: Chatman will serve as the third running back behind starter Thomas Jones and primary backup Leon Washington, but Chatman is physical with solid size, and could potentially work in short-yardage and snipe some goal-line scores, giving him some fantasy value for deeper leagues.
Westbrook's status in doubt Monday 10/6, 2:35 PM CT
Brian Westbrook's status for Week 6 is "very much in doubt," according to the Eagles' official website. Coach Andy Reid said, "We'll see how that works out for him over the next couple of days. Right now he's very sore."

Our View: He is listed as day-to-day. Correll Buckhalter would start in Westbrook's place in a favorable match-up against the 49ers if needed.
Dallas will not make play for Williams?Monday 10/6, 2:30 PM CT
Cowboys' owner Jerry Jones stated that he does not intend to trade for receiver Roy Williams, according to MLive.com.

Our View: Jones also indicated that he will not deal for any receiver prior to the October 14 trade deadline. Williams would benefit from more single coverage while operating opposite Terrell Owens in Dallas' efficient passing offense, but Jones has shot down the idea.
Lions to abandon no-huddle offenseMonday 10/6, 2:25 PM CT
The Lions have decided to abandon the no-huddle offense, according to MLive.com. Receiver Roy Williams is not pleased with the decision and said, "We reached for something and it didn't work. So we get rid of it because it didn't work. It is what it is. It doesn't matter whether I agree or disagree. A lot of things don't work but we don't throw it out."

Our View: Jon Kitna has struggled to effectively run the Lions' offense this season, with five interceptions and a 72.2 efficiency rating. Perhaps he will benefit from a slower and more carefully etched out offensive plan.
Boldin could miss Week 6? Monday 10/6, 2:17 PM CT
The Arizona Republic suggests that Anquan Boldin could miss Week 6 against Dallas.

Our View: The Cardinals do not intend to rush him back, which is reasonable since the team is 3-2 at the top of the NFC West and Steve Breaston is performing well in Boldin's absence.
McFadden still sporting boot Monday 10/6, 2:11 PM CT
Darren McFadden is still sporting a protective boot, and was unable to practice Monday, according to the Oakland Tribune. He is dealing with a toe injury.

Our View: Oakland is coming off their bye, so it is a bit of a concern that McFadden did not practice. We will keep you posted on the rookie's status throughout the week heading into Oakland's favorable match-up with New Orleans.
Madsen returns to Oakland Monday 10/6, 2:05 PM CT
John Madsen has returned to Oakland to fill Seth Wand's (placed on IR) spot on the roster, according to the Oakland Tribune.

Our View: Madsen was previously waived on September 19 by the Raiders to make room for tight end Ben Troupe. Madsen is merely adequate as an NFL tight end, and holds no value.
Wand lands on IR Monday 10/6, 2:03 PM CT
Seth Wand has been placed on season-ending IR by the Raiders, according to the Oakland Tribune. Tight end John Madsen has been brought back to the team to fill Wand's spot on the roster.

Our View: Wand is not a solid pro, and provided little depth to the Raiders' offensive line.
Fargas returns to practice Monday 10/6, 1:58 PM CT
Justin Fargas, who has been dealing with a groin injury, returned to practice Monday, according to the Oakland Tribune.

Our View: He is expected to return to battle in Week 6 at New Orleans, but will be a risky fantasy option despite the favorable match-up, as his role and workload will be in question under new head coach Tom Cable.
Coughlin hopeful regarding Hixon Monday 10/6, 1:53 PM CT
Coach Tom Coughlin is hopeful Domenik Hixon will be able to play in Week 6 after sustaining a concussion in Sunday's win over Seattle, according to the NY Daily News.

Our View: Hixon did a great job of filling in for the suspended Plaxico Burress yesterday as he hauled in four receptions for 102 yards and a touchdown, but his fantasy stock will drop with Burress set to return this week at Cleveland. Hixon will resume his role as the No. 4 receiver.
Taylor plans to increase practice loadMonday 10/6, 1:45 PM CT
Jason Taylor is trying to return from surgery to relieve compartment syndrome in his calf, and intends to increase his practice workload this week, according to the Washington Post. Coach Jim Zorn said, "He will try to rev it up, I know that."

Our View: This is encouraging news, but Zorn still cannot speculate when Taylor will be back. Hopefully fantasy owners have done as well as Washington without the stud defensive end, as they are currently 4-1.
Griffin to undergo an MRI Monday 10/6, 1:40 PM CT
Cornelius Griffin is set to undergo an MRI for his injured left shoulder, according to the Washington Post.

Our View: Coach Jim Zorn noted that Griffin has a sprain and the team will try to get him ready for Sunday against the Rams. Griffin holds very little fantasy value, but he is a solid defensive tackle, and his absence would benefit Steven Jackson and the Rams' ground attack.
More swelling for rookie Kelly Monday 10/6, 1:36 PM CT
Malcolm Kelly is experiencing more swelling in his knee, according to the Washington Post.

Our View: He played sparingly Sunday against the Eagles. It would appear that Kelly could be in jeopardy of being placed on IR if his knee doesn't respond favorably soon. The rookie fell behind in training camp and the preseason due to ailments, and only has one catch for six yards.
Perry still struggling with ball security Monday 10/6, 1:12 PM CT
Chris Perry is still struggling with ball security as he fumbled for the fifth time in Sunday's close loss to Dallas, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer.

Our View: If he doesn't take better care of the ball, newly acquired Cedric Benson could potentially unseat him as the starter, especially since Perry is only averaging 2.8 yards per carry.
Williams to see action before bye Monday 10/6, 1:04 PM CT
Chris Williams is expected to see action with Chicago before their bye in Week 8, according to the Chicago Sun-Times. GM Jerry Angelo stated that he could play at any time and he added, "His progress has been very good. Right now our situation with Chris is he missed all of training camp. He's practicing and we keep graduating him each and every week, really it's the last two weeks he's doing more and more. So everything looks good."

Our View: He was projected to start at left tackle this season prior to sustaining a back ailment, which resulted in surgery to repair a herniated disc. The Bears remaining opponents before the bye are the Falcons and Vikings.
Johnson is frustrated Monday 10/6, 12:38 PM CT
Rudi Johnson has been named the Lions' starting running back, but did not see action until the third offensive series in Sunday's blowout loss to Chicago, and is not pleased with his workload, according to the Detroit Free Press. Johnson said, "The way I'm being used? I haven't really been used. So all I can do is try to get on the field and try to help, try to contribute. Would I like to help? Yes, I would like to contribute."

Our View: He was limited to five carries against Chicago, but rookie Kevin Smith didn't get many more with eight, namely since the Lions were forced to abandon the run early while trailing by a considerable margin.
Springs intends to return in Week 6Monday 10/6, 12:32 PM CT
Shawn Springs intends to be ready for Week 6 against St. Louis, according to the Washington Post. He is recovering from a strained calf and said, "I'm gonna be out there this weekend. As good as we played without me. I might be coming off the bench, but I'm playing."

Our View: Springs is still a solid NFL cornerback, and his return will likely slow down Torry Holt and the Rams' passing attack.
Woodson progressing Monday 10/6, 12:26 PM CT
Charles Woodson believes his broken toe is getting better, according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel.

Our View: Woodson is still playing, but is obviously compromised by the injury, which was evident when burned muliple times by Roddy White in Sunday's loss to Atlanta. As a fantasy performer, he still holds solid value with three interceptions and two touchdowns this season.
Smith appealing suspension Monday 10/6, 12:21 PM CT
Eric Smith is appealing his one-game suspension and $50,000 fine for his brutal hit on Cardinals' star receiver Anquan Boldin in Week 4, according to Newsday.

Our View: If Smith's suspension is upheld, Jesse Chatman, who is returning from his four-game suspenion, would take Smith's roster spot for this week against Cincinnati.
Akers having issues from long-rangeMonday 10/6, 12:14 PM CT
David Akers is having issues from long-range as he has missed nine straight field goal attempts from 45 or more yards, according to the Philadelphia Daily News. Coach Andy Reid still has faith in the veteran kicker, though. Reid stated, "David's going to make a lot more of those than he's going to miss. Down the stretch here, he'll be fine."

Our View: It remains to be determined why Akers is missing his longer attempts, which have all sailed to the right. He will remain the Eagles' kicker for the time being, but fantasy owners should have a solid backup for insurance.
Griese on shaky ground regarding jobMonday 10/6, 11:50 AM CT
Brian Griese is on shaky ground regarding his status as the Buccaneers' starting quarterback, according to the Tampa Tribune. When asked whether Griese would start Sunday against Carolina if he was cleared by the team’s medical staff, coach Jon Gruden stated, "Right now, we’re concerned about Griese’s arm, and we’re encouraged by Jeff Garcia's progress. Brian played pretty well, and Jeff did pretty well. Under the circumstances, both quarterbacks did some decent things." Griese was replaced by Garcia Sunday against Denver after injuring his right elbow and shoulder.

Our View: Even if he does remain the starter, Griese should not be considered for fantasy lineups, as he has thrown six interceptions with a poor 64.6 efficiency rating.
Ruud questionable for Week 6 Monday 10/6, 11:45 AM CT
Barrett Ruud has been deemed questionable for Week 6 due a knee injury, according to the Tampa Tribune.

Our View: Ruud is the anchor of the Buccaneers' defense as he generated 36 tackles (29 solo), one sack, and two interceptions so far this season. It would be unfortunate if he is unable to go in a crucial home game against the division-leading Panthers.
Westbrook injury update Monday 10/6, 11:38 AM CT
Updating an earlier report, Brian Westbrook sustained two fractured ribs in Sunday's loss to Washington, according to the Eagles' official website.

Our View: The team is yet to determine how much time he may miss. The Eagles have their bye in Week 7.

Kelvin Hayden injured his left knee during Sunday's game at Houston, according to the Indianapolis Star.

Our View: He was forced out in the second half and did not return. Tim Jennings replaced him in the lineup. Hayden is a solid NFL cornerback and was off to a favorable start this season with 17 tackles (14 solo) and an interception, and the Colts' secondary will be weakened if he is unable to go in Week 6 against Baltimore. The team is yet to determine the severity of his injury.

Our View: Joe Klopfenstein replaces him in the starting lineup at tight end. This is unfortunate for McMichael as he ranked third on the club in receptions (11) prior to going down, and was excited to work in coordinatoe Al Saunders' offense.

Roderick Hood was forced out of Sunday's game against Buffalo due to a groin injury, according to the East Valley Tribune.

Our View: Rookie Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie saw extensive playing time in Hood's absence, but only registered one solo tackle. Hood holds little fantasy value, but is a solid starting cornerback for Arizona, and their secondary will take a hit if he is forced to miss time. Terrell Owens and the Cowboys' aerial attack will be coming to town in Week 6.
Wilson plays through injury Monday 10/6, 9:41 AM CT
Adrian Wilson played through his hamstring injury Sunday, but did not register any tackles while limited to third-downs, according to the East Valley Tribune.

Our View: He did cause Trent Edwards' concussion however, when he drilled the young quarterback just a moment after releasing a pass. The Cardinals have a big game against Dallas in Week 6, and it will be hard to keep Wilson off the field.

Sheldon Brown suffered a stinger against Washington Sunday and briefly left the game, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer.

Our View: It is a good sign he was able to finish the game, but if he is forced to miss any time, former Pro Bowler Lito Sheppard will be ready to step into his starting spot, hence keeping the Eagles' secondary strong at the position.

Our View: Gostkowski has now hit his last 17 regular-season field goal attempts, which is the third-longest streak in franchise history.
Edwards could be back for next gameMonday 10/6, 7:17 AM CT
Trent Edwards suffered a concussion in Sunday's loss to Arizona, but could be back for the Cardinals' next game as he has extra time to rest with a bye in Week 6, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. Coach Dick Jauron said, "I just came from Trent. He was responding, but he was still a little groggy. Hopefully, he'll be fine as time goes by here. It's a good time to have a bye."
