Following an earlier story, Bruins center Marc Savard has returned to practice and is aiming to rejoin his team on the ice when Boston begins the playoffs against the Montreal Canadiens on Thursday, according to the Boston Globe. Savard, recovering from a broken bone in his back that forced him to miss the final seven games of the regular season, was on the practice ice today, donning a red jersey to signify limited contact was permitted, but the team doctors have cleared him for full contact starting Wednesday. Savard has 15 goals and 63 assists on the season, and his team would love to have him back on the ice when the playoffs commence. Today’s practice puts him on that path.

Andrew Ference practiced for the first time since spraining his knee on March 22 and said he is ready for Game 1 of the playoffs, according to the Boston Globe. The defenseman has ample playoff experience with 51 post-season games under his belt, but holds a poor -14 +/- this season.
Savard determined to return Tuesday 4/8, 9:20 AM CT
Marc Savard is battling a back injury but he is determined to return for the playoffs, according to the Boston Globe. Savard stated, "I'm going to play and I'm going to contribute. Guys have stepped up and played great right now. I'm not going to put the team in a situation where I'm out there just going through the motions at 85 percent. I want to be above 90 and be able to contribute." Savard has missed the last seven games of the regular season due to his injury, and is needed back soon as he notched 78 points over 74 contests played.

Schultz likely out for first round Tuesday 4/8, 7:29 AM CT
Nick Schultz is likely out for the first round of the playoffs against Colorado, according to the Star Tribune. He underwent an appendectomy on Monday night and Wild GM Doug Risebrough noted, "It's a good-sized blow, but we'll just have to deal with it. He's a solid, solid player and a solid, consistent player. He did it the same every night, and there were very few low spots." Schultz is the team's most consistent defender, and his services will be missed.
