Franzen out for Game 5Friday 5/16, 3:54 PM CT
Johan Franzen will not suit up for the Wings on Saturday when the Wings try to eliminate the Stars due to concussion-like symptoms, according to the Associated Press. "He's been cleared for light workouts, but nothing more. “He’s going to have to practice with us for a few days and feel good the next day before he plays again,” GM Ken Holland said.

Our View: Since Franzen went down the Wings power-play is 0-for-15, but obviously the bigger concern is Franzen's health. Given the fact that the Wings should be able to dispose of the Stars without him, there is no reason to rush him back anyway.
Roberts dealing with pneumoniaFriday 5/16, 10:58 AM CT
Gary Roberts had denied that he had a case of pneumonia, but he's now confirmed that that is in fact what he is dealing with, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. The veteran said it is the third time in the past two years he has had that illness. "I've got to make sure it doesn't get escalated to the point where I'm in the hospital, like I was two summers ago," he said.

Our View: Consider Roberts out indefinitely until further notice.
Timonen could return SundayFriday 5/16, 10:52 AM CT
Kimmo Timonen is going to skate on his own today with the hopes of playing as early as Sunday in Pittsburgh, according to the Courier Post. It had been thought that the defenseman was done for the year after doctors discovered a blood clot in his left foot, but it appears the injury isn't as severe as initially thought. Timonen said the decision over whether to return or not now rests with him. "If I feel (today) that I'm good to go for Sunday, then I'm good for Sunday," he said. "There is nothing to prevent me from playing.

Our View: The Flyers' playoff hopes are hanging on by a thread, and they could certainly use Timonen in the lineup. We'll let you know how his workout goes.
Boucher still not readyFriday 5/16, 8:45 AM CT
Philippe Boucher skated Thursday for the first time in a few days, but he's still not ready to return from his hip strain, according to the Dallas Morning News. The defenseman has been out since April 15.

Our View: Coach Dave Tippett said Boucher might travel with the team for Game 5, but won't bring his equipment.
Barnes to sit out Game 5Friday 5/16, 8:44 AM CT
Stu Barnes worked out for about 30 minutes after going through a 20-minute workout Wednesday but still isn't ready to return from his concussion and will sit out Saturday's game, according to the Dallas Morning News.

Our View: It sounds like Barnes could be close. Too bad the Stars are on the brink of elimination.
Lehtinen won't play SaturdayFriday 5/16, 8:40 AM CT
Jere Lehtinen will sit out again in Game 5 on Saturday due to a leg injury, according to the Dallas Morning News. The forward hasn't played since suffering the injury in Game 2.

Our View: With the Stars likely to be eliminated this weekend, Lehtinen's season is probably over.
