The Boston Bruins re-signed veteran defenseman Aaron Ward to a multiyear contract extension, notes FoxSports.com. Ward, 35, had five goals and eight assists in 65 regular-season games for the Bruins last year, as well as one assist in six playoff games.
Our View: He has 40 goals and 88 assists in a 13-year career with five teams. Ward was the fifth overall pick in the 1991 NHL draft by the Winnipeg Jets. He was traded to Detroit in June 1993, and played on two Red Wings Stanley Cup championship teams. |

Our View: The enforcer is a team captain, but is likely to sign with another team in free agency. He fought through pain, but his mobility is a significant concern for the Flyers and they want to get quicker defensively. |

It has been revealed that Mattias Norstrom has been playing through a sports hernia during the Stars' playoff run, according to the Dallas Morning News. Coach Dave Tippett said, "It's phenomenal he can get through that."
