NEWSBREAKERS NHL
Pens will continue phyisical playFriday 5/30, 1:14 PM CT
The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports that defenseman Brooks Orpik said the Penguins are convinced a physical price can and is being extracted on the likes of veteran Red Wings such as Samuelsson, Brian Rafalski, Tomas Holmstrom, Kirk Maltby, Draper, Nicklas Lidstrom (38) and Drake, among others. "You want to pound on them as much as possible."

Our View: The physical approach didn't work for the Dallas Stars and as a team they are much more capable of playing the enforcer than the Pens.
Babcock disappointed in power playFriday 5/30, 1:09 PM CT
The Detroit News reports that Coach Mike Babcock has been bothered by the work of his top power-play unit -- Henrik Zetterberg , Pavel Datsyuk, Tomas Holmstrom, Nicklas Lidstrom and Brian Rafalski. He also was upset Zetterberg's group stayed on the ice longer than the standard 35-second shifts Wednesday night, sapping their effectiveness.

Our View: Zetterberg has 22 points (10 assists) over 17 games in the playoffs this season. Tough to complain about that.
Chelios to remain outFriday 5/30, 1:05 PM CT
The Detroit Free Press reports that Chris Chelios (knee) will not rejoin the lineup for Game 4.

Our View: The aging enforcer is nursing a knee injury.
Holmstrom to play Game 4Friday 5/30, 1:02 PM CT
Tomas Holmstrom took a nasty spill late in Game 3 after being dumped in front of Pittsburgh net and limped out of the arena. However the Detroit Free Press reports he is expected to play. "He felt OK this morning," Holland said. "Sometimes in the first 24-48 hours, you get significantly worse. He wasn't any worse today, so that's a good sign."

Our View: Holmstrom is an essential cog to the Red Wings offense and his presence is the crease is a grind for the Pittsburgh defense.
Wheeler to become UFAFriday 5/30, 12:47 PM CT
The Arizona Republic reports that the Coyotes surprised most when they selected Blake Wheeler, a 17-year-old high school player from Minnesota, with the fifth overall pick of the 2004 draft. Now Wheeler has surprised the Coyotes by deciding not to sign with them, thus becoming an unrestricted free agent.

Our View: Wheeler gave the Coyotes 30-days in early May to get him signed to a rookie contract, but didn't allow the team the entire term.
