Our View: Goc, a three-year veteran, had five goals and three assists in 51 games last season while playing mostly on the Sharks’ checking line. His offensive struggles led to frequent benchings by coach Ron Wilson, but Goc also appeared in four playoff games.

Lightning re-sign Gratton Friday 7/11, 3:55 PM CT
Chris Gratton has been re-signed by the Lightning, according to the Sports Network. He received a one-year deal, but financial terms were not disclosed.

Our View: He only scored 10 goals and 11 assists with the Lightning over 60 games last season, but the team retained him for his toughness, as he also notched 77 penalty minutes. He holds little to no fantasy value in leagues that don't award points for penalty minutes.
Bell lands in Ottawa Friday 7/11, 3:09 PM CT
Defenseman Brendan Bell has left the Coyotes as he signed a one-year, entry-level contract with the Senators, according to the AP. The team signed goalie Mitchell O'Keefe as well.

Our View: The 25-year-old Bell spent a majority of last season with the San Antonio Rampage of the AHL, where he contributed seven goals and 24 assists over 67 games. He did not register any points or penalty minutes over two brief appearances with Phoenix last season, and is not likely going to be a viable fantasy option next season.

Alexander Radulov has left the NHL to play in Russia next season, according to TSN. The talented forward signed with Ufa of the Russian Superleague on Thursday. Exact terms of the deal were not disclosed. He was still under contract with the Predators and said, "I told my bosses in Nashville that I wanted to play at home and some Russian clubs were offering me much better conditions than I had in Nashville. They said they would call me back but never phoned."

Our View: He scored 26 goals and 32 assists (58 points) over 81 games with Nashville in 2007-08. The 22-year-old could have challenged 30 goals if he remained in the NHL next season.
Sullivan still fighting to returnFriday 7/11, 11:52 AM CT
Steve Sullivan isn't ready to end his comeback attempt. The forward hasn't played since February 2007 due to back problems and he has undergone several surgeries, but he is still dealing with spasms. "I am not finished yet," Sullivan informs the Tennessean. "I am pushing it every day, It is a little different every day, but the (bad) episodes are not as consistent."

Our View: Sullivan still doesn't have a timetable for his return. He is a very productive scorer when healthy, but there's no certainty that will ever be the case again.
Toews could be team captain Friday 7/11, 9:10 AM CT
Jonathan Toews could be named the Blackhawks' team captain for next season, according to the Chicago Tribune. Coach Denis Savard said, "It's a natural fit. I need to sit down with the staff and coaches, but I know I have my mind made up. I don't care how young you are. Toews is that type of person who will be a great captain for us."

Our View: Toews was one of the finalists for the Calder Trophy last season after notching 24 goals and 30 assists (54 points) over 64 games with Chicago.
Lecavalier deal less than reported Friday 7/11, 7:47 AM CT
Vincent Lecavalier's new deal may be worth less than the $77 million that was initially reported, according to the Tampa Tribune. Lightning VP Brian Lawton indicated that the reported figure was presumptuous and added, "The numbers are not as advertised. We are putting the final touches on it. Everything you have read and all that's been reported in the media, they are all false. We'll announce it all next week."

Our View: The official deal is expected to be announced on Tuesday.
Sakic not ready to make decision Friday 7/11, 7:30 AM CT
Joe Sakic likely won't make a decision on his playing status until closer to September's training camp, according to the Denver Post. Sakic said, "I've got some time. I want to make sure I'm 100 percent whichever way I choose. I've played the game my whole life. Just mentally, right now, I'm still in a state of still deciding. When I know for sure, I can't tell you when that is going to be, but it will be before camp."

Our View: The 39-year veteran still has a little bit left in the tank, as he contributed 13 goals and 27 assists (40 points) over 44 games with Colorado in 2007-08.
Iginla praises Bertuzzi Friday 7/11, 7:01 AM CT
Jarome Iginla stated that he would like to play on a line with newly acquired Todd Bertuzzi next season, according to the Calgary Herald. Iginla said, "I'm not sure what coach Mike Keenan has in store, but, yeah, I'd love the chance to play with Bertuzzi. I'm excited. Sometimes, you play with different players and you can't explain why, but the chemistry, it's not there. And with some, you just feel, 'If we had some time together, if we could just work together."

Our View: Playing on the same line as Iginla would benefit Bertuzzi's production, namely in the assists department.
