Our View: In 61 games last season with Tampa, the defenseman had four points and was a -3 and is not a candidate for fantasy hockey teams.

Defenseman Aaron Johnson was signed to a one-year deal by the Chicago Blackhawks on Tuesday, according to the Associated Press.

Our View: Johnson had two assists and 30 penalty minutes in 30 games last season and should not be on fantasy rosters.

Our View: Fraser played just five games with Chicago last season and did not register a point, so his fantasy value does not exist.

Phoenix working on Carcillo contractTuesday 7/15, 6:40 PM CT
The Phoenix Coyotes are still in contract negotiations with Daniel Carcillo, according to the Arizona Republic. "Basically, he wants more than I believe is warranted based on Dan's experience and performance," Coyotes GM Don Maloney said.

Our View: Carcillo should be a popular player among those engaged in fantasy hockey leagues based on his absurd penalty minutes alone, leading the NHL with 324 of them last season (equivalent to more than five games worth). He also showed some scoring ability however, notching 24 points.
Willsie signs with ColoradoTuesday 7/15, 6:32 PM CT
Brian Willsie has signed a one-year contract with the Colorado Avalanche, according to the Rocky Mountain News.

Our View: Willsie accumulated four goals and eight assists in 53 games with Los Angeles last season and is not someone who should be considered for fantasy purposes.

Phoenix center Martin Hanzal has a herniated disc in his back and will undergo surgery to repair it, according to The Sports Network. He is expected to be ready for training camp in September.

Our View: The 21-year-old Hanzal, a former first-round selection, showed good promise last year in his rookie campaign. He could be worth a later round pick in fantasy hockey drafts.

The Los Angeles Kings may be interested in Chicago netminder Nikolai Khabibulin, who could be made available soon, according to E.J. Hradek of ESPN.com.

Oilers sign Corazzini Tuesday 7/15, 3:54 PM CT
The Oilers have signed Carl Corazzini to a one-year deal, according to the AP.

Our View: Corazzini spent last season with Grand Rapids of the AHL, while registering 24 goals and 36 assists over 80 games. He notched one assist and two penalty minutes over seven games with the Blackhawks last season as well. The 29-year-old doesn't garner fantasy attention for next season.
Stortini re-signs with Oilers Tuesday 7/15, 3:49 PM CT
Zack Stortini has re-signed with the Oilers, according to the AP. He agreed to a three-year deal, but financial details were not disclosed.

Our View: He only registered three goals and nine assists over 66 games last season, but the Oilers like the intimidating presence he brings to the ice as he also racked up 201 penalty minutes. He is viewed as an important member of their club, but won't be worthy of a fantasy roster in leagues that don't award points for penalty minutes.
Bank sues Fedorov Tuesday 7/15, 3:02 PM CT
A Michigan bank is suing Sergei Fedorov, saying payments have stopped on more than $2 million in loans, according to the AP. Citizens State Bank filed a lawsuit Monday against Fedorov. The lawsuit, filed in Macomb County Circuit Court, stated Fedorov got loans in 2004 and 2005, one for $1.75 million and another for $500,000. A default notice was sent in May after payments stopped, Citizens State Bank attorney Scott Norton indicated Tuesday. The bank is owed at least $2.1 million in interest and principal, according to the lawsuit.

Our View: Norton said Fedorov offered a Miami condominium as collateral on the larger loan. An 11-year-old horse and an insurance policy are collateral on the smaller loan, according to the lawsuit.

Ryan Stone has signed a one-year deal to remain with the Penguins next season, according to the AP. Financial details were not disclosed.

Our View: Beech was claimed off waivers from Columbus in January. He registered six goals and five assists over 25 games of NHL action. The 27-year-old center won't make a fantasy impact with Pittsburgh next season.

Ray Emery responded to the rumor circulating that he has a drug problem, according to the Ottawa Sun. Emery remarked, "No, I don't have a drug problem. People like to talk. People see you out and if you're associated with anyone that's seen as being like that, it snowballs."

Our View: Emery is slated to play in the new Russian Continental League this season, but is hopeful to return to the NHL soon. There is no evidence to support the drug rumor.
Blues sign Regier Tuesday 7/15, 11:12 AM CT
Steve Regier has signed a deal to play for the Blues, according to the AP. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.

Our View: Regier played briefly over eight games with the Islanders last season, and did not register any points. He shouldn't make an impact with the Blues next season.
Filppula should avoid arbitration Tuesday 7/15, 8:41 AM CT
The Wings and Valtteri Filppula should be able to avoid arbitration, according to MLive.com. Wings' GM Ken Holland is continuing talks with Filppula's agent in an effort to sign the 24-year-old to a long-term contract. But if the sides can't agree on a long-term deal, Holland thinks they can avoid an August 1 arbitration hearing by agreeing to a two-year pact. Holland said, "If we have to settle on a shorter term, we'd be able to find a solution without going to arbitration."

Our View: Filppula provides valuable depth to the Wings, as he contributed 19 goals and 17 assists (36 points) over 78 contests last season. Three of his goals were game-winners.
