Fritsche signs with AvalancheMonday 8/11, 5:57 PM CT
Tom Fritsche signed an entry level deal with the Avalanche on Monday, according to the Denver Post.

Our View: Fritsche played at Ohio State last season and recorded 19 points. He was also a selections by the Av's in 2005 before he decided to attend college.
Pickard signs with PredsMonday 8/11, 5:45 PM CT
Chet Pickard signed a entry level with the Predators on Monday after the team selected him with the 18th pick in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft, according to TSN.

Our View: The 18 year old netminder went 46-12-4 with a .918 SV% last season in the WHL as he was named the top goaltender in the league as well as the CHL Goalie of the Year. The Predators are relatively thin in nets, so Pickard could find himself with a shot at playing time in a year or two.
Senators sign WaughMonday 8/11, 5:41 PM CT
Defenseman Geoff Waugh signed a two-way contract with the Senators on Monday, according to TSN.

Our View: Waugh suited up for 71 games in the AHL last year with three goals, three assists and 139 points, and doesn't figure to do anything significant in the upcoming season from a fantasy perspective.
Radulov still awaiting rulingMonday 8/11, 4:15 PM CT
The Alexander Radulov saga is still on going, though everyone involved is hopeful that a resolution will be arrived at by the end of the week, according to the Tennessean.

Our View: Radulov has one year remaining on a contract with the Predators but that didn't stop him from signing a deal to return to play in Russia. If Radulov is forced to return to the NHL for one more season, it wouldn't appear that he would make a great fantasy target given his obvious desire to return to Russia.
Kings sign top pickMonday 8/11, 4:12 PM CT
Drew Doughty, the second overall selection in the 2008 NHL Entry draft, has signed a three year contract with the Kings, according to the Associated Press.

Our View: Doughty likely will not make the Kings team at the start of the year given the difficulties of cracking an NHL lineup at 18, but he could force his way into consideration late in the year.
Sakic to decide soon Monday 8/11, 2:43 PM CT
Joe Sakic said he will decide soon regarding his decision to play or retire, according to SI.com. He commented, "I needed some extra time this year. It's been a very, very difficult decision to make. I'm hoping to have something here in the next couple of weeks, make my final decision and go forward with it. I should make my final decision pretty soon. Whatever that is, I want to make sure it's 100 percent sure."

Our View: The 39-year veteran still has a little bit left in the tank, as he contributed 13 goals and 27 assists (40 points) over 44 games with Colorado in 2007-08.
Devils ink Leach Monday 8/11, 9:17 AM CT
The Devils have inked Jay Leach to a one-year two-way contract, according to the Boston Globe. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Our View: Leach will only serve as depth during his time with the Devils next season, and isn't expected to be fantasy worthy.
