Sakic to make decision?

Avalanche center Joe Sakic may be nearing a decision on his playing future and will hold a press conference on Thursday before his charity golf tournament, according to the Rocky Mountain News.

Our View: Sakic still has not made up his mind whether he wants to play or not, but with training camp on it's way, he will have to decide soon. Sakic will be a decent fantasy option if healthy, as he put up 40 points in 44 games last season.

Berard to tryout with Flyers

The Philadelphia Flyers are bringing in veteran defenseman Bryan Berard for a tryout during training camp, according to HockeyBuzz.com.

Our View: Berard has had trouble staying healthy, and though talented, he isn't going to help fantasy squads much. He had 22 points in 54 games with the Islanders a year ago.

Blackhawks sign Aliu

Monday 8/25, 4:06 PM CT

The Chicago Blackhawks signed 19-year-old Akim Aliu, a right winger who was the team's third-round selection in 2007, to a three-year contract, according to the Canadian Press.

Our View: Aliu is not a fantasy prospect right now, but he's certainly a name to remember in the future. He not only had 61 points (28 goals, 33 assists) in 60 OHL games last year, but he accumulated 133 penalty minutes as well.
