Radulov saga heading to courtSaturday 9/6, 10:43 PM CT
The Detroit News reports that the Alexander Radulov transfer dispute is now heading to court. The Continental Hockey League (KHL) withdrew its appeal on five other player transfers at a meeting on Saturday between the International Ice Hockey Federation and nine member countries, but couldn't resolve the Radulov case, the IIHF said in a statement. The NHL and KHL will now go to court or arbitration to decide who owns his rights. Radulov had one year remaining on his contract with the Nashville Predators when he signed a deal with a foreign team.

Our View: No one can know how this will work out but we are pulling for the NHL to keep this guy so that he can bring his respectable production back to fantasy leagues.
McLaren back in actionSaturday 9/6, 6:53 PM CT
The Mercury News reports that defenseman Kyle McLaren is back practicing with the San Jose Sharks and appears to be fully recovered from the groin injury that caused him to miss the playoffs.

Our View: It's still unclear how much action McLaren will see this season. Since that the arrival of Dan Boyle, Rob Blake and Brad Lukowich, McLaren looks like the odd man out on San Jose’s blue line. The Sharks are just over the salary cap and losing McLaren’s $2.5 million contract would remedy that with room to spare. Besides that, his playing time last season had fallen below that of younger players such as Christian Ehrhoff and Marc-Edouard Vlasic. On the depth chart, it’s hard to imagine McLaren penciled in higher than a fifth or sixth defenseman at this point.
Bernier will lineup with twinsSaturday 9/6, 5:02 PM CT
Steve Bernier will play on the same line as twins Daniel and Henrik Sedin this coming season according to the Vancouver Sun. "One of the key focuses for us was to get a player we felt would complement them," Vancouver GM Mike Gillis said. "We actively went out and got Steve (Bernier) because we feel he could be a complementary player for them. So that's an indication what I think of them."

Our View: The rugged winger tallied 16 goals and 16 assists last season between Buffalo and San Jose. If he can establish a good chemistry with his new linemates, he should see a sharp increase in production and become a solid fantasy contributor.
Lindros explains declining invite Saturday 9/6, 1:56 PM CT
Eric Lindros explained his reason for declining the Flyers' invitation to attend the Spectrum farewell game, according to the Philadelphia Daily News. Lindros said, "I'm unfortunately unable to attend the ceremony at the Spectrum because I will be attending a memorial service for my close friend's mother who recently passed away. The Spectrum holds many special memories for me, and I always enjoyed playing there in front of the great Flyers' fans."

Our View: Lindros was one of the best players to ever skate for the Flyers at the Spectrum, and clarified that he needs to attend a funeral and not because he had a falling out with the organization.
Holmstrom fully recovered Saturday 9/6, 1:09 PM CT
Tomas Holmstrom believes he is fully recovered from his sports hernia surgery, according to the Detroit News. He said, "I think I'm going to be good for camp. The hernia feels good. I've skated a couple times before."

Our View: He has been demoted from the top line following the addition of Marian Hossa, but should still provide fantasy owners with solid depth as a late-round pick.
Chara progressing well Saturday 9/6, 10:14 AM CT
Zdeno Chara has been progressing favorably in his recovery from left shoulder surgery, according to the Boston Globe.

Our View: Chara has been skating and moving without limitations during this week's informal on-ice sessions, which were limited in physical play. He isn't sure if he will be able to play in any of the eight preseason games, but wants to insure he is back to 100 percent. He looks to return as a No. 1 defenseman for fantasy leagues.
Toivonen goes back to Finland Saturday 9/6, 10:08 AM CT
Hannu Toivonen has gone back to Finland to play for Ilves in the Finish Elite League, according to the Boston Globe.

Our View: Toivonen is still under contract with the Blues, but with Manny Legace and Chris Mason expected to play net in 2008, and with Ben Bishop and Marek Schwarz looking to develop in Peoria, Toivonen became the odd man out.
Stoll battling Handzus Saturday 9/6, 10:04 AM CT
Jarrett Stoll is expected to battle Michal Handzus for the No. 2 spot at center with the Kings, according to the LA Daily News.

Our View: If Stoll can win the job, a 25-goal season is realistically within reach in his first campaign with the Kings.
Zubov looks to be 100 percent Saturday 9/6, 10:00 AM CT
Sergei Zubov looks to be 100 percent recovered from his sports hernia surgery, according to the Star-Telegram.

Our View: He has looked great while skating, and should be good to go for training camp.
York in great shape? Saturday 9/6, 9:56 AM CT
Mike York is reportedly in great shape, according to the Columbus Post Dispatch.

Our View: He could etch out a favorable role with the Blue Jackets if he can come close to his form in 2005-06, when he scored 13 goals and 39 assists (52 points) with the Islanders.
