Bohn leads Wachovia heading to SaturdaySaturday 5/3, 9:23 AM CT
Jason Bohn enters Day 3 at this week's Wachovia Championship with a two-stroke lead to hold lone possession of 1st place. Bohn stroked an impressive 68 (-4) on Thursday, followed by a 67 (-5) on Friday to hold a score of -9 overall heading into Saturday.

Our View: Bohn has just four cuts made in nine PGA starts this season, but also has two top-10 finishes. He is closely followed by players more than capable of making a charge and challenging for the trophy. Among those top golfers in striking range: Anthony Kim (-7), Dudley Hart (-6), Jim Furyk (-6), Camilo Villegas (-5), John Merrick (-4), Geoff Ogilvy (-4), Vijay Singh (-4), Robert Allenby (-4), Steve Marino (-4).
Big names out of weekend play at WachoviaSaturday 5/3, 9:18 AM CT
With the PGA entering the weekend of competition at this week's Wachovia Championship, more than a few of the Tour's top talents have packed their bags and are starting to prepare for the PLAYERS Championship next week. Among the names of note failing to make this week's cut: Mike Weir, Jose Maria Olazabal, Paul Casey, Justin Rose, Trevor Immelman, Steve Stricker , Johnson Wagner, Jonathan Byrd, Stuard Appleby, and Luke Donald.

Our View: Stricker carded a worrisome 78 on Thursday, making the cut line all but impossible to reach. Donald followed suit with a 77 on Thursday, as did Appleby with a 76. Such is life on the PGA Tour, though many of the favorites to win remain in contention as the tourney enters Round 3 today.
Lonard withdraws at WachoviaSaturday 5/3, 9:10 AM CT
Peter Lonard has officially withdrawn from this week's Wachovia Championship, submitting his withdrawal and walking off the course after three holes of his second round on Friday.

Our View: Lonard told officials he was struggling to deal with the pain of a back injury and no longer wanted to continue. Lonard is listed in the field at next week's PLAYERS Championship, but these events suggest he may think twice and consider an early-week withdrawal. We will update if news comes forth.
MacKenzie out, Couples in at PLAYERSSaturday 5/3, 9:05 AM CT
Will MacKenzie has officially withdrawn from the PLAYERS Championship next week, listing knee surgery as his reason for withdrawal.

Our View: It has been reported by several services that MacKenzie underwent minor surgery on his right knee this week and is likely to miss at least two weeks of PGA competition as a result. As a result, the great Fred Couples has been added to the field, a two-time TPC Sawgrass champion.
Woods on scheduleSaturday 5/3, 9:01 AM CT
Tiger Woods reports his left knee is "right on schedule" for recovery and attendance at this year's U.S. Open (and possibly sooner), according to ESPN.

Our View: Wood underwent arthroscopic surgery on the knee in mid-April and was at the doctor's office for a two-week check-up earlier this week. Woods reported to the Golf Digest.com, stating "It went great. Everything is right on schedule. The doctors said I should be able to play in four to six weeks after the surgery, but there are no guarantees about anything right now. I'm just going to work hard and do what they tell me to do." Woods has not put an official timetable on his return, though history suggests he may be looking at The Memorial, an annual event of preference for Woods held two weeks before the U.S. Open, as a likely target for return. We will update as news becomes available.
