Faxon targeting Travelers for return

Brad Faxon reports he intends to return to the PGA Tour at the Travelers Championship.

Our View: Faxon underwent knee surgery last season and has been slow to get back to the links, but he has told reporters he feels good and hopes to be swinging in competition soon. "I'd hoped to return for the Memorial (in three weeks), but that's not going to happen. My recovery plan is to get better as fast as I can and come back when I feel I can compete and not embarrass myself," said Faxon. The Travelers commences on June 19th.

Dougherty making return in Europe

The European Tour has reported Nick Dougherty has confirmed his commitment to play at this week's Italian Open.

Our View: Dougherty's mother recent passed away and he has missed the bulk of the last two weeks as a result. He had originally committed to attend the event before his mother fell ill, but he has confirmed he intends to be present and golfing. Dougherty also reports he will be taking part in the tourney's Pro-Am event on Wednesday, and also reports he intends to take the following week off before making two more starts in Europe. Then, he'll be in the field at the U.S. Open at Torrey Pines.
