Woods reports rehab is right on scheduleTuesday 5/27, 6:24 PM CT
Tiger Woods reports his rehabilitation efforts are going well and he feels his knee is well on it's way to full recovery in time for the U.S. Open.

Our View: Woods held a news conference today concerning his own tournament to be held later this season, and when asked about the knee (having undergone arthroscopic surgery after The Masters), Woods replied that he is doing well and he anticipates no obstacles between the rehab and his return to play at Torrey Pines. Of course, fantasy owners may struggle to "gamble" on a player that has not set foot into a PGA event since The Masters, but this is Tiger Woods. The wager isn't that risky, especially at course that might be best described as Woods' home stomping grounds.
Stricker shocks with withdrawal from MemorialTuesday 5/27, 6:18 PM CT
Steve Stricker has officially withdrawn from this week's Memorial Tournament.

Our View: At this point, the PGA has yet to report a reason for withdrawal. Needless to say, this will be of great interest for fans of the PGA as Stricker is considered by many to be a member of the game's elite. Stricker is the fifth member of the world's top 10 to take a pass on the meeting at Muirfield, and with the struggles he has faced this season (struggling to make cuts in recent weeks), it would seem odd to miss an opportunity to work towards the U.S. Open in two weeks. It may be that Stricker feels best to wait and play next week at the Stanford St. Jude Championship. We will update if/when news becomes available. Stricker was to be replaced in the field by Alex Cejka, but he promptly filed an official withdrawal as well, leading the addition of Jeff Overton to the Memorial field.
Kim taking a pass on the MemorialTuesday 5/27, 6:16 PM CT
Anthony Kim has officially withdrawn from this week's Memorial Tournament.

Our View: This is a bit of a shock as Kim has been rising through the ranks of the PGA as the young 22-year-old duffer is enjoying an outstanding season. As of this moment, the PGA has not listed a reason for withdrawal. Kim will be replaced in the field by Cameron Beckman.
Clark withdraws from MemorialTuesday 5/27, 6:15 PM CT
Tim Clark has officially withdrawn from this week's Memorial Tournament.

Our View: Clark is coming off the best finish of his season thus far, finishing in a tie for 2nd place at the Crowne Plaza Invitational. He is replaced in the field by Brett Quigley.
Gay withdraws from this week's Memorial TournamentTuesday 5/27, 6:15 PM CT
Brian Gay has officially withdrawn from this week's Memorial Tournament.

Our View: Gay has been rather selective in his decisions to attend and play this season, and with a noticeable lack of history at the Memorial (just one start, finishing at T60), this comes as no surprise. Gay will be replaced in the field by Mark Hensby.
Coceres withdraws from MemorialTuesday 5/27, 6:14 PM CT
Jose Coceres has officially withdrawn from this week's Memorial Tournament.

Our View: Coceres has been a bit up and down this season and doesn't carry a great Memorial resume, thus fantasy owners are likely to be fine without him. Coceres will be replaced in the field by Marco Dawson.
Els is back in, will attend the MemorialTuesday 5/27, 5:58 PM CT
Updating an earlier story, Ernie Els has announced a reversal of his original decision and has re-committed to attend this week's Memorial Tournament, according to Els' personal website.

Our View: On Monday Els posted that he would be skipping the upcoming Memorial as he continued to work on swing and set-up changes with his coaching staff, and as fans of the PGA know, it might be fair to suggest that Els was looking to focus his sole effort on the U.S. Open, having struggled through a rough and inconsistent season. However, as the PGA reported late Monday evening, Els had not filed the necessary paperwork to officially withdraw from the tourney. Now he intends to take part and is available for your fantasy needs.
Singh out of Memorial, may be facing prolonged absenceTuesday 5/27, 10:23 AM CT
Vijay Singh has officially withdrawn from this week's Memorial Tournament and questions continue to linger about his health and potential attendance in upcoming events, including the U.S. Open, according to ESPN.

Our View: Singh arrived to play at last week's BMW PGA Championshp on the European Tour last week and was stricken by sharp pains under his left rib cage. As a result, he withdrew from that Euro event, jumped back on a plane for the States, and was to be seen by doctors. Singh reports the pain has not subsided and we are waiting for results from an MRI that was to be performed early this week. As a result, Singh has withdrawn from the Memorial but remains in the field for next week's Stanford St. Jude Championship. We worry that this problem, a pain Singh has described as "unbearable" in recent reports, may hinder his ability to attend the U.S. Open, a significant hazard for all fantasy owners to consider. He will be replaced in the field by Tim Petrovic.
Pampling qualifies for U.S. OpenTuesday 5/27, 10:18 AM CT
Rod Pampling has qualified to attend this year's U.S. Open thanks to his strong performance at last week's Crowne Plaza Invitational.

Our View: Pampling finished in a tie for 2nd place at the Crowne Plaza Invitational, and that finish pushed Pampling into the top 50 on the newly-updated World Golf Rankings, thus giving him automatic qualification for this year's U.S. Open.
Quinney qualifies for the U.S. OpenTuesday 5/27, 10:14 AM CT
Jeff Quinney finished in a tie for 7th place at last week's Crowne Plaza Invitational, thus helping the surging American golfer to qualify for this year's U.S. Open in two fashions.

Our View: First, the finish have given Quinney winnings to rank 10th among PGA combatants on the current Money Leaders list, an automatic qualification for inclusion in the Open field. The finish also pushed Quinney within the top 50 of the new World Golf Rankings, a second automatic qualifier for the Open.
Slocum withdraws from MemorialTuesday 5/27, 10:11 AM CT
Heath Slocum has officially withdrawn from this week's Memorial Tournament.

Our View: Slocum has finished among the top 10 in two of his last four starts and may be resting for a hopeful surge at the U.S. Open. He will be replaced in the field by Charles Warren.
Wi withdraws from the MemorialTuesday 5/27, 10:09 AM CT
Charlie Wi has officially withdrawn from this week's Memorial Tournament.

Our View: Wi has been a volatile fantasy commodity this season but played rather well at the Crowne Plaza Invitational last week, finishing at T15. He will be replaced in the field by Jason Gore, though beware for a potential withdrawal from him as well, having struggled to perform and battling various issues this season.
Crane withdraws from MemorialTuesday 5/27, 10:07 AM CT
Ben Crane has officially withdrawn from this week's Memorial Tournament.

Our View: Crane has played well this season and is coming off a strong performance at the Crowne Plaza Invitational. However, a slight back injury may be lingering (an injury that forced his withdrawal from the AT&T Classic earlier this season). He will be replaced in the field by Jesper Parnevik.
Oberholser falls out of U.S. Open, season may be overTuesday 5/27, 10:05 AM CT
Arron Oberholser has officially lost exemption from automatic qualification for the U.S. Open and thus reports he will not be attending any qualifier tourneys to regain his status, according to ESPN.

Our View: Oberholser has been battling a significant hand injury since last season, and his continued struggles to find health are growing more and more frustrating. In an attempt to retain his exempt status for the U.S. Open, Oberholser made a rare start (just one of five this season) at last week'd Crowne Plaza Invitational, hoping to finish well enough to stay within the top 50 of the World Golf Rankings (a status that would be his ticket into the Open). He played fairly well, but others on both the PGA and European Tours found success that enhanced their own standings and pushed Oberholser to #51. Oberholser reports his hand continues to be a problem, though doctors report he has improved and now carries a low 5% differential between grip strengths in his two hands. It would appear the American duffer is all but prepared to call this season a loss and accept whatever the future may bring.
Els withdraws from Memorial?Tuesday 5/27, 9:58 AM CT
Ernie Els has apparently withdrawn from this week's Memorial Tournament, though PGA officials claim he has not officially filed any notice pertaining to that withdrawal.

Our View: Various sources have put forth several stories concern Els and his status moving forward. ESPN notes Els is working with coaches to revamp his set-up and swing, and thus he has decided to take an additional week off. Els has reported on his own site (ErnieEls.com) that he will be attending the Stanford St. Jude Championship next week, though he intends to stay at home in Wentworth until then. PGA officials noted on Monday that Els had not filed the necessary notice of withdrawal and thus continue to list him in the field. We will update if news becomes available.
