Moore withdraws from Buick OpenTuesday 6/24, 10:18 PM CT
Ryan Moore has officially withdrawn from this week's Buick Open.

Our View: Moore surprised us with a lackluster performance on Friday last week to miss the cut at the Traveler's, and now he is passing on a chance to rebound and get back on track against a lesser field at the Buick. Moore is one of the best young duffers rising on the Tour, but it may be a rest will do him well mentally. Moore will be replaced in the field by Paul Stankowski.
Surgery a success for TigerTuesday 6/24, 7:03 PM CT
Tiger Woods underwent reconstructive knee surgery today, repairing a torn ligament in his left knee, according to the Associated Press.

Our View: Doctors report the procedure went very well and there is no reason to believe long-term effects will hamper his career moving forward. It was the second time in 10 weeks Woods had surgery on his knee, this time on his anterior cruciate ligament. The surgery, performed by Rosenberg and Dr. Vernon J. Cooley in Park City, was the fourth time Woods has had surgery on his left knee. He had a benign tumor removed in 1994, and he had benign cysts removed in 2002, along with fluid around the ACL. Woods said he tore his ACL while jogging last year after the British Open, but tried to make it through the end of this season without surgery. Two days after his runner-up finish at the Masters, he had surgery to clean out cartilage in his left knee. The world's No. 1 player announced last week that he would miss the rest of the season, which includes two more major championships and the Ryder Cup.
Marino withdraws from Buick OpenTuesday 6/24, 6:57 PM CT
Stephen Marino has officially withdrawn from this week's Buick Open.

Our View: Marino has been the source of much pleasure for fantasy golf owners this season, making 14 of 18 cuts thus far, though his recent returns have been a bit troubling. We had hoped to see him rise once more against a lesser field, but he will take a rest instead. Marino is replaced in the field by Mark Brooks.
Weekley welcomes new child, out until the BritishTuesday 6/24, 6:55 PM CT
Boo Weekley will be out of action until the Open Championship (commonly referred to as the British Open) due to the arrival of he and his wife's second child, according to GolfWeek.com.

Our View: We would like to extend our best wishes to the family and welcome their new child to the world of professional golf. Weekley has been a force on the Tour this season and we hope he returns to the British with the same momentum.
Thompson withdraws from BuickTuesday 6/24, 6:52 PM CT
Nicholas Thompson has officially withdrawn from this week's Buick Open.

Our View: Thompson has been a monster in terms of scheduling, making 21 of 27 total PGA events this season (no other golfer has attended more than 19). The results have followed with one of his best seasons to date, thus a rest is more than understandable. He will be replaced by Dicky Pride.
Armour III withdraws from BuickTuesday 6/24, 6:49 PM CT
Tommy Armour III has officially withdrawn from this week's Buick Open.

Our View: Armour comes off a T2 finish at the Travelers and feels he has earned a rest (an odd decision if you ask us, considering it is his only finish of note this season). He will be replaced in the field by Robert Damron.
Browne gets sponsor's exemption into Buick OpenTuesday 6/24, 6:46 PM CT
Olin Browne has been added to the field at this week's Buick Open thanks to a sponsor's exemption granted this morning.

Our View: Browne is suffering through hard times on the course, missing 10 of 16 cuts this season. It has been 11 months since he last finished among the top 25 at a tourney, thus his fantasy value is limited at best.
Imada withdraws from Buick OpenTuesday 6/24, 6:42 PM CT
Ryuji Imada has officially withdrawn from this week's Buick Open.

Our View: Imada racked up a win at the AT&T Classic this year, thus he has the luxury of status and can take more time off and focus his efforts towards bigger and better goals. There is no injury, he simply feels a rest is needed (though it is rather damaging for a tourney already hurting to attract names and fans despite a lackluster list of committed talents). Imada will be replaced in the field by John Huston.
Micheel done for the yearTuesday 6/24, 6:40 PM CT
Shaun Micheel spoke with reporters and has indicated his shoulder, recently the focus of surgical procedures to repair a torn labrum, was in worse condition than first believed, according to CommercialAppeal.com.

Our View: The labrum was repaired in Micheel's left shoulder but the doctor also removed some bone and a bursa. Micheel reports doctors stated they were shocked, upon seeing the condition of his shoulder, that he was able to play. His recovery from surgery will likely take the rest of the season and thus ends Micheel's bid to get back on track in '08.
Perez withdraws (again)Tuesday 6/24, 6:36 PM CT
Pat Perez has officially withdrawn from this week's Buick Open.

Our View: Perez seems to be struggling for focus, for a chance to compete at events such as these seems to fall out of his desires. He has yet to garner a PGA win and tourneys such as this provide optimal opportunity to do so. He has consistently filed early withdrawals at a higher rate than nearly any other golfer on the Tour (and the others, namely Brett Wetterich and Arron Oberholser, are injured). He will be replaced by Brent Geiberger in the field.
Simpson to hit links at BuickTuesday 6/24, 6:33 PM CT
Webb Simpson has been granted a sponsor's exemption and will be added to the field of competitors at this week's Buick Open.

Our View: Simpson first gained attention as a force at the college level and has two PGA starts this season, making the cut in both. This will be his first Buick Open.
Riley makes Buick on sponsor's exemptionTuesday 6/24, 6:31 PM CT
Chris Riley has been granted a sponsor's exemption and will be added to the field of competitors at this week's Buick Open.

Our View: Riley has been splitting time between the Nationwide Tour and the PGA, hoping to get his PGA card and status moving forward. In his last six starts, Riley has made the cut and cashed checks in four, including three top-25 finishes
Day gets sponsors exemption into BuickTuesday 6/24, 6:29 PM CT
Glen Day has been granted a sponsor's exemption and will be added to the field of competitors at this week's Buick Open.

Our View: Day has made five cuts over eight PGA starts this season, also qualifying for weekend play at three of seven Nationwide Tour events.
Petrovic withdraws from Buick OpenTuesday 6/24, 6:27 PM CT
Tim Petrovic has officially withdrawn from this week's Buick Open.

Our View: Petrovic has suffered through a rough season and missed the cut at last week's Travelers despite shooting two rounds under par. The PGA has not listed his official reason for withdrawal, but he will be replaced in the field by Bob Tway.
Thatcher suffering from synovitisTuesday 6/24, 6:20 PM CT
Roland Thatcher is reportedly suffering from synovitis in his right hand and wrist, making it impossible to swing a golf club, according to ESPN.com.

Our View: The condition is defined as an inflammation of the lining of the joints, causing swelling in those joints. Thatcher has not hit the links in a competitive tourney since the Colonial and has yet to indicate how this prognosis will affect his schedule moving forward. It would seem wise to remove him from fantasy consideration until more news comes forth.
